So it's Thistle in the dark tops with the light sleeves? Don't remember seeing this strip before. Is it blue and white and were both teams wearing change strips because of the red and yellow / black and gold clash? Apologies for all the questions but I'm only young (57!). ARu-Strathbungo
Found this photo on the EF Twitter feed, this is a photo of the victorious EF team at the 1953 LC final. The strips are confusing me, anybody know why neither PTFC or EFFC appear to be wearing their 'normal' colours?
stuthejag
Nothing mentioned in the preview or match reports about the change of strips. http://partickthistleahistory.wikifoundry.com/page/1953++League+Cup+Final
policemans whistle
How times have changed, over 38 thousand for a game between the Jags and East Fife. East fife were a top team then and over these years produced a couple of internationalists Jimmy Davidson [At that time had the hardest shot in football] and Johnny McKenzie played for Scotland on quite a few occasions

In the days before pre-season friendlies the only game (open to the public) was the Big team v the Wee team trial match. When you look at some of those in the Wee team (Andy Kerr, Willie Crawford, George Smith, Alec Stott, Jimmy Walker) it makes me wish I was Marty McFly and could go "Back to the Future"!

Jaggernaut
Brilliant. For those of us who don't use Facebook it would be great to see those pictures on here. Who is the big guy 3rd left, back row? How about that second strip, if it's navy blue and white, as a future away strip?

policemans whistle
Re "The big team" v The "Wee team" On occasions it was the big team forwards with the wee team defence, against the big team defence and wee team forwards.
