Well.. now the postmortem has been conducted on the game and the performance itself is out of the way can I make an observation on something else.

If Higgy, Fraser and some others have went off the boil of late, after attending the St Mirren game and the game yesterday I think our singing section has also lost its mojo a bit.

Long periods of silence followed by songs that don,t get to completion. Sitting in the city end of the JH the small Inverness turnout sounded just as loud sometimes and the St Mirren supporters definitely won the battle.

You guys when your on SONG make such a big difference to the stadium atmosphere which without doubt filters to the players and in particular when we go a goal down it is so important. So come on North Stand find your voice again!

Retreats to bunker for expected pummeling.

I think you are spot on. There was ample opportunity to throw some weight behind extended versions of Red n Yellow Army, for example. But there are a lot of people in the north stand who have no interest in actually being a vocal supporter, happy just to sit on the coat tails of others.

There are also some fcking idiots!

One, yesterday throwing his scarf away after the second goal. Another verbally abusing fritz when he was trying to get the stand behind the team. Regardless of what you think of a person, we are all Thistle fans and for 90 minutes we should stand together. Abusing a fellow fan across a stand and using their name whilst doing it, I find quite embarrassing. You don't socialise with that person away from the game, you don't know him, you have no right to tell another thistle fan to shut the fck up.

Has the North Stand become a victim of its own success? Maybe. I just wish that those who are there would get their finger out, so that every person walking out that gate felt they had given everything to verbally supporting the team.

Any room in you bunker, Topcat?

I felt sorry Frans with the amount of abuse that he was getting. He was garbage and was getting roasted by Watkins but he looked lost when he had the ball.

The fans singing is a 2 way street. The players need to do something to get the fans going. The North stand was pretty good against Hamilton, at the start of the St Mirren game and after Taylor scored yesterday.

So why were you one of the people who liked La Scimmia Rossa's spectacularly ignorant post last week telling Thistle Fans to "STFU"?

Just so I'm clear, you are asking why I liked a post on an Internet forum by an anonymous user, directed at a group of anonymous users. And comparing it to a single person standing up in the middle of a quiet stand during a game as directing a shout at a specific person, whilst using said persons name.

Jus so I'm clear, you're comparing the two as the same?

If it weren’t for the North end I would have given up long ago it’s the only thing worth turning up for is a good sing song, problem is we don’t have too many songs, where’s the Sheds song writers?

No matter how bleak things appear and how many dumplings are running around in Thistle colours, a song and a laugh and there ye go. A few years back it was “big mad mental Martin Hardie” that morphed into “big mad mental Aaron Muirhead” this year it could be “big mad mental Jamesie Craigen”

Saturday was the1st time in a few yrs that fans were booing the players and also the fans giving fans verbals. Strange especially with over half the game to go. I think due to the selection a few fans were ready to erupt before the game, but yes the singing has been more vocal and needs to get back to where we have been.

Ps... My only gripe apart from the team performance was the smelly barsteward who was fecking letting aff ( rotten egg) the whole game. If you are on here then please feck off somewhere else cos u are fecking stinking smelly barsteward!!!!

Sorry about the rant, but the chunt is a smelly tramp that does it constantly at home games and needs a plug up his arse.

The worst two performances I've seen back to back since dick Campbell and you are expecting folk to start a sing song?

Full of admiration for the guys in the North Stand they are what I was 20 or so years ago but to use the excuse of a poor performance as a reason for not singing then I just don't buy that. We where never out of any of those games so why not get behind the team?

I was standing directly beside the guy who was giving Fritz abuse, and told him to leave him alone and watch the game. The same guy was turning round and giving verbal to those behind him shouting to "fckin support the team" and when folk were calling for Archie to make changes to the team after 20-30 minutes, he shouted "change whit? How can he change it?".

Fans turning against each other is ridiculous. We are supposed to be "supporters". Booing the team after 20 minutes achieves absolutely nothing, we should be "supporting" them to push on and bring the game back. I was furious after what I witnessed in that first half from the players and management, but did I feel the need to boo? No. Instead I decided to shout louder in my encouragements to the team in the hope that this would help them to salvage the game. Nothing worse than seeing players' heads go down because then any hope for a result is lost.

At the risk of sounding cheesey and/or cliched, we should all be standing together, North Stand-ers and Jackie Husband-ers supporting the team for 90 minutes and being the 12th man. Abusing the team, and fellow fans, is not on.

These players don't deserve to be booed.

The fans are rightly frustrated at the inexplicable poor performance in front of them and don't want to sing. That is no different to fans from any team in the UK.

Singing would have made no difference on Saturday. We were on tae plums as soon as AA chose to start that team.

So booing ur team after 20 min will help them? We go as supporters of our club, we try and encourage the players, if it is not working do you seriously think that the players will work harder and play better if we boo them? Of course they will not. With 70 min left on Saturday instead of booing we should have been trying to encourage the players to improve.

My first time in the NS on Saturday and stood near the back. The group I was with had had a few "refreshments" before the game so we were happy to join in the singing despite the poor fare on the park...

My take on the Northie crowd was that it split into roughly 3 camps:-

1. The hardcore "singers" up the back who try and get chants going irrespective of team performance.

2. Those who could diplomatically be called "temperamental" who will join in when the team are doing well but seem quick to throw their scarves away/boo/abuse other fans when the going gets tough.

3. Those who don't seem to see the irony in turning up for the atmosphere but yet are not willing to join in and make any contribution! I think PT was alluding to them above when he says the NS could become a victim of its own success.

Just my take as a first time visitor.

Fall in to the camp 1 category I would Yoda.

First and foremost, I go to see the Thistle play and don't feel any obligation to join in with the singers.

I enjoy supporting the team in my own way by shouting encouragement and applauding good play where deserved.

Occasionally I'll join a chorus when I feel like it although as stated above some of our repertoire is mind numbingly boring and I'm of an age I usually just can't be arsed singing inane chants. I'd rather watch football.

Doesn't make a me a bad person or less of a Thistle fan than anyone else.

I was very surprised to hear so much booing on Saturday, especially so early on in the game. It wasn't just the North Stand, plenty of people in the Jackie Husband were at it as well.

After the performance against St Mirren I was angry the whole weekend. I couldn't, and still can't, bring myself to watch the recording. On Saturday though, when I heard the team news, I think I could have been best described as despondent. I spent most of the game leaning forward with my chin in my hands, with no real belief that we could get anything out of the game. The second half was better but still far from good and there was very little to get excited about. Even when we aren't playing well there is usually something that happens in the game to lift our spirits but, even after Taylor's goal, I don't think many believed we could snatch the draw to give us the replay.

Generally the vocal support in the North Stand is good. Miles better than the lifeless way it was before but surely there were many in there on Saturday with the same thoughts as me. Despondent, Bewildered. Frustrated. No belief. Pretty hard to get a good old sing song going when you feel like that.

The noise of the North Stand is sometimes relative to the efforts of those on the park. I'm sure if the players (and the manager for that matter) start showing the heart and commitment that is desired and give the fans something to get encouraged about the voice will be found again pretty quickly.
