Fawlty Towers
Portsmouth manager says we paid a ' good transfer fee ' for Barton Changed days ! The Weirs ? Hopefully this played a part: https://ptfc.co.uk/fans/players-fund/ With 5 months until the January window closes lets hope a few more people join so Archie can further improve the squad then. twinny
Just spoke to a Pompey supporting friend, he said he and his brother really liked Barton but were happy to see him go as he wasn't being used properly down here. They call him a poor man's Krancjar as he won't do the dirty work but can play the ball. Works best in front of the defence spreading the ball around and would complement a team with attacking full backs. I talked about Osman and he suggested the pair should complement one another. Although he's not a tackler, he can win the ball in the air with his height.
Metz
Really puzzled why he hasn't been given an outing yet. I would have thought that when Welsh came on today that would have been an ideal opportunity to bring him on. If he isn't fit there wasn't much time left so that shouldn't have been a concern. Maybe Archie just didn't feel like taking a chance but we are just one injury away from needing to throw him in the deep end. It's a really low key start to his Jags career let's hope he is worth the fee and the wait.
Barney Rubble
Only rational explanation is that he may be carrying an injury.
Big Col
Bloody hope not! But would he be on the bench if he was injured?
lady-isobel-barnett
Don't like to speak for others but I reckon anyone who saw him on Tuesday night wouldn't exactly be shocked he didn't start today. Also don't feel the way the game panned out today it was likely he'd make an appearance as a sub. If Barton puts in a performance for the U20s at East End Pk I can see him get a turn v Motherwell. I know Barton is not noted as a hard tackler but with Abdul suspended I reckon it likely he'll be involved next week.

Apologies for the selective quote m'lady - but what do you mean by that? Was he off the pace or what?
lady-isobel-barnett
Apologies for the selective quote m'lady - but what do you mean by that? Was he off the pace or what? Difficult to answer that as an overage player often has different priorities than the youngsters. Anyone watching the match the other night will have seen a marked improvement when Young Docherty replaced Barton. I think it more likely he was playing it a bit "pre season" rather than being off the pace. Rusty more than unfit.
