gerrybritton9
The morning after the amazing game at the Celtic, I'm trawling the inter surf looking for good videos. It occurs to me that the club could have its own you tube channel. Easy and cheap to set up with a good way of using advertising and attracting a global fan. Some goals, interviews and behind the scenes . Ever seen the man city channel? All those in favour ?
jaggy
We do, it's called Jagzone :-)
gerrybritton9
Is jag zone a you tube channel?
ian_mac
That would be completely self defeating when we are trying to make money from jagzone. Producing that content costs money at the end of the day. Man City are massive club that can easily afford to produce it for free, so you can't compare them to us. Jagzone currently does everything you just mentioned. The content is a good and I'm happy to pay for it.
ChewinGumMacaroonBaaaz
If the club had a you tube channel set up when Kingsley hit the scene there may have been some easy cash in it.... but it ain't all about direct cash income. While I'm pretty sure most likely customers are willing to take a punt on it to find out, Youtube could be a decent place to showcase the Jagzone content, quality and value with teaser montages and edits that might entice a few lone, tight-wad nomads to a purchase subscription. The club have a facebook page & Twitter, Youtube could be used as another social media tool for publicity. Even once a month, short, summary, video posts of random/out of date Jagzone content would add to the clubs online presence and display, life, activity and progress at the club to the outside world.

The official facebook account posts snippets of interviews inviting people to see the full thing on Jagzone. It wouldn't take long to upload this on an official YouTube account. Similarly, now I don't used snapchat as I don't get it, but could the club also share images that are shared on facebook like the doolan 100, or matchday Posters to subscribers somehow? I really don't know what this would add different to Twitter, but it is a cheap way of advertising to young people who are now often looking at facebook and twitter as outdated. gerrybritton9
I don't know how you make money from YouTube but you clearly do. Remember that "YouTuber" is now a profession! Maybe a taster/teaser for the jags zone?
twinny
Through advertisements. Some youtubers are earning millions. Pewdiepie is probably one of the most famous people among u30s and yet over 30s have no idea who he is. I wouldn't know who he was if my wife wasn't under 30. gerrybritton9
My wife fairly auld (sorry darling) But the 12 year old daughter tells me about Zoella, Alfie etc.... You tube channel would be a nice addition
1 John Lambie
Jagzone is easily worth £5.99 a month, would encourage anyone who does not have it to sign up. Video quality excellent, commentary excellent, interviews excellent, highlights packages excellent.
ian_mac
I would rather pay the money directly to the club and not have to sit through any adverts. The amount you actually make from these adverts is paltry and your videos need to be getting millions of views to make it worthwhile. I am sure the club looked in to this and decided that jagszone was by far the better option.
twinny
Maybe, but the point isn't necessarily to Marke money out of it but to advertise Jagzone. Many young people are choosing to watch YouTube over TV and these are the people who will be Jagzone subscribers of the future. Think of it as kids go free, yes it makes more money if you charge a fee, but long term you might get season ticket purchases by nurturing a relationship from a young age. twinny
Also, the proposal isn't to replace Jagzone, but to post snippets to YouTube that are already bring posted to facebook. This is probably a handful of videos a week, which would take no time at all to upload or maintain (just turn comments off to avoid the need to waste time on moderation). lady-isobel-barnett
Can see both the pros and cons as argued above. I'd suggest from a strictly marketing point of view Jagszone is still in its infancy and the introduction of any other media income stream would be too early. I'd also imagine that the Club don't believe the sales of this service have yet peaked. However there's certainly a credible argument for an alternative media outlet. Jagszone, whether it's good value or not, is solely targeted at the established fan base. Commercially it's purely incremental business. If a dedicated you tube channel aimed at a wider audience (potential & periphery Jags fans) could provide further incremental income, without either jeopardising Jagszone or causing confusion, then it would surely be a useful initiative. Perhaps a You Tube channel could be marketed more thru the wider community and funded by fresh advertising? I've not a clue as to the break even volume that's required. Jaggernaut
As I mentioned previously on another thread, as an overseas Nomad I'm tempted to sign up for the whole Jagszone package for next season, but that will certainly reduce my participation in the various fundraising schemes on here (prediction leagues, last Jag standing, pay as we score) etc.
twinny
I would suggest you sign up Jagger. It has been posted recently by Shuggie on here and facebook that it isn't making as much as was expected and the club will have to consider it's future. Signing up for Jagzone would give the club a more steady and anticipated income stream compared with the fundraising activities on here, though I am by no means belittling those efforts.
gerrybritton9
I've just watched the 5 minutes highlights on the Motherwell YouTube channel Have we missed a trick? It is free. I also watched Conrad play a trial match for Bradford against Motherwell on pre season on the same channel.
ian_mac
What is the obsession with youtube? Have you emailed the club about it?
gerrybritton9
I can't The obsession is such that I can't tear myself away Is there any support I can get for my obsession? I think I might look for a video on YouTube to help. .....oh no! Obsession again.

Wiltshire Jag
My adopted team, Bristol Rovers have both a subscription channel and a youtube channel. The highlights on youtube are never more than 3 minutes and the interviews are usually 3-4 mins, much the same as Archie's postmatch interviews. I don't subscribe to BRTV as I know I can see the goals on youtube, but I don't have the same level of affection for the Gas as I do for the Jags, for whom I'll subscribe to stuff just out of blind loyalty. We could put the "Goals only" videos on youtube as a taster.
