  1. Now the new manager has been appointed I was trying to think of any ex Thistle managers who went onto better things after they left Thistle. Can’t think of any but surely there must be at least one or are we a graveyard for managers? Hope Archie bucks the trend.
  2. BBC have Caldwell as probable choice
  3. Hated Goodwin when he played against us but he knows the game inside out and will definitely move on to better things.Happy for him to start the journey with us.Let’s face it,if we have a successful manager ,clubs will come calling.
  4. If Wenger is playing hardball then McCall or Goodwin
  5. Sabbaths naked hatred for Archie Is all consuming,,even to the point of making up fake news about Archie claiming all the credit. There never was any arrogance or conceit in Archie’s demeanour yet Sabbath would defend a man who tried to screw Thistle. Everyone is entitled to better themselves and there is no problem with that.I would have loved if Kris Doolan had got a big money move.I would have been sorry to see him leave but happy that his talent and attitude had reaped rewards, but Macnamara revealed his greed knows no bounds and his subsequent career tells you something. However he’s made his money so he should worry
  6. Saddest aspect for me is that neither of them will reap the benefit of the training facility that they helped create.Wish they could have been moved into the Academy side of things or accommodated elsewhere within the Thistle family. Some of the comments on here about our ex manager are disgraceful. The words “clown” and “numpty” have been used to describe an honest ,intelligent and courteous professional who tried to cross a bridge too far.
  7. Strange one.Just spoke to cousin who is ICT supporter and was at game.Says the score is a joke and Jags were better team. Can anyone who was there give an honest assessment?
  8. Just a wee question? Did Archie take the penalty? Just asking, like.
  9. My one and only visit to Cliftonill nearly ended in disater. Think it was a evening cup game in the 70's.Had just received a company car,Ford Escort, and arrived in car park 5 minutes before kickoff. The three of us jumped out the car to get in the queue and I managed to lock the doors whilst leaving the car keys in the ignition with the engine still running.Of course I didn't realise what I'd done until after we returned to the car to find a cop standing by the car.He was amazed I had never heard the tannoy announcement given the crowd size .When he found out I didn't have a spare key he managed to open the door using a piece of wire he conjured up from some place.Think we won.
  10. Aiming to get promotion at the first attempt would suggest an attacking style of play but I’m not sure if Archie can/will drop his safety first approach.Personally I could accept failure if we at least tried to attack in every game but would not be happy if we failed playing last seasons boring brand of football.Any thoughts on how he will/should approach this season?
  11. S Something strange about the way was dumped by St Johnstone.Anybody know the story?

  13. The general consensus on this forum is that Moriniho and Ferguson would have struggled with this group of players.OK,so Archie picked the players but if memory serves all of them had good performances initially then faded. Don't know how you cope with that.
  14. If you thought BBC was bad you should have heard BT. We were slaughtered by Sutton and co,not without justification.I am never going to watch a Thistle televised game again. The only one I've ever enjoyed was our first game back in the Premier League against Dundee United that finished 0-0.So I won't be watching on Sunday but I'll record it and only watch it if we win overall. My blood pressure can't take it.No wonder I've just been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.I'm sure there must be a nervous condition called Thistleitis.
  15. If you could pick one Thistle player from the past to play in and improve this current team who would it be.I'd go for Ronnie Glavin ,a tough tackling midfielder who could score goals
  16. Just watched the game on Alba and we were the better team by a mile.Don't get R & Y's comment that we were spineless? Saw a lot of fight and commitment and maybe a wee lack of composure with the final ball but "spineless"?.We didn't make any stupid tackles but but that's a good thing surely?ol As regards Doolan I think Archie feels he got to "pace" him trough the season rather than burn him out.
  17. And the good thing is it doesn’t insult anybody.
  18. Know how you feel.I haven't watched Sportcene for the last two months. However you don't choose which team you support, they choose you,so I guess we're stuck with it.
  19. Having watched a good few games on tv over the last week ,I’ve yet to see a penalty where players did not encroach the penalty area before the kick was taken.Maybe time to have a “box” outwith the box?
  20. Anyone who thinks the fixtures and injury list has not affected our performance is being unrealistic.Whilst I think is squad is one of the strongest we have had individually ,sadly that has not translated into team performances. No doubt some of that is the responsibility of the manager but in the last few games we have missed chances that we should have taken.Do we expect Archie to come running on to score? And looks like a perfectly good goal disallowed on Saturday. All we can do is grit our teeth and get on with it.
  21. Well there you have it.Our own Nostradamus.Obviously Yellow and Redneck knows it all so problem sorted. How could our manager and the rest of the board be so wrong and so stupid,no,willfully ignorant. Why didn’t we buy a player better than Lindsay. In fact why didn’t Barnsley buy a player better than Lindsay.Sorry can’t answer that one but maybe Y&R can.
  22. To play a high pressing game we need 10 Ryan Edwards in the team and we ain’t got.
  23. You “love” the excuse of injured players? Says it all!,
  24. Would have liked to have seen a wee bit more credit given to Thistle for developing him.Ah well!
