  1. Curious about a 1968-69 programme I recently came across. Inside the normal PT programme there is a 20-page "Football League Review" (Vol 3 No 35). Properly stapled in - presumably by the printers. Brief research on the internet suggests this weekly magazine was produced by the FA (not the SFA) and as well as being sold (1 /-), supplies were distributed to clubs to coincide with their next home match for insertion into their programmes. Printers must have loved this (not)! Quite why the FA would want to flog their magazine in Scotland escapes me. There is no Scottish content in the magazine. Can any collectors with programmes of this vintage tell me if this was common practice for Thistle/other clubs? Could it have been a one-off experiment?
  2. Three shillings? That's outrageous. Ah'm no goin' back! I think the state of the floodlights should be added to the log list of "things to do". IMO they used to be excellent but games on TV are exposing the fact that much of the centre of the park is increasingly darker than the two 18 yard boxes. I wonder how many bulbs are actually working. Are they all working but poorly positioned? Our away televised matches have shown some clubs have lights that are far brighter - and evenly so. Related to wider issues about energy costs, why is it not possible to start games in all but the deepest midwinter at 2.00 pm? Most of them could finish without the need for the lights to be used at all (or at least only for the second half). This would need to be with the agreement of the visiting club of course. Anyone remember the season we used to dim the lights at half time? This just emphasises the size of the task facing whoever is running the club. All about priorities I suppose.
  3. Yes, if only we had a multi-millionaire Thistle supporting friend willing to put money into the club. Oh, haud oan a minute.....
  4. Football. Sensible. Two words you don't normally see sitting happily together.
  5. In contrast, I asked a steward the very same question and was told it was a "sit any where" job. Good to see they have their act together. I wonder if any clubs have a strict allocated seat numbers policy and if so, how they enforce it.
  6. That'll be the world-renowned Scottish Premiership where the third team has just finished 42 points (the equivalent of 14 wins) behind the champions and where season after season the only real competition relates to deciding who is the worst of the worst .
  7. Andy Dunlop and Dougie Somner in St Mirren colours and with perm at Love St. Could be either 5/12/1981 (1-2) or 17/4/1982 (0-2). Looks like the latter. Short sleeves and no-one in the crowd dressed like a polar explorer.
  8. Thanks for keeping me right. Clearly I didn't pay enough attention in Gibberish class.
  9. If anyone speaks fluent gibberish, have a read. I hope this is the relevant extract from the SPL Rules & Regulations. After having paid and/or allowed for any and all amounts to be paid/allowed for in terms of these Rules in the calculation of, out of or in connection with Net Commercial Pyramid Play-Off Revenues the remaining sum in respect of each Pyramid Play-Off Competition shall be paid by SPFLL as fees in the amounts determined from the specified percentage to the parties set out in the Table below in consideration of the rights, facilities and properties relating to and concerning, Radio Transmission and Transmission during and in respect of the relevant Pyramid Play-Off Competition and the other commercial, copyright and database rights and properties and any and all other intellectual property rights in and relating to each Pyramid Play-Off Competition contributed by each such party. If there has been no Pyramid Play-Off Tie then no payment shall be made to whichever of the SHFL or SLFL did not have a Champion club involved in the Pyramid Play-Off Competition. the Scottish FA 10% the SPFL 15% the SHFL 15% the SLFL 15% The clubs/Club participating in the relevant season’s Pyramid Play-Off Competition, divided equally between each of them 45% divided equally between each of them.
  10. Niven, Provan, Brian Gallagher and Donnie's twin brother Ronnie? If so, Rangers 6-1 Thistle 10/9/1966.
  11. I contacted HAFC and got an answer. There will be a cash only gate on Saturday.
  12. How about "The Harry Lillis Crosby Wildlife Park"? (See what I did there?) Much as I hate the sight of the bing, others are right. Development would be a vanity project with a financial suicidal outcome. The harsh reality is that we will probably never again need a stadium with it's current capacity let alone more seating. We don't even fill it now when the Old Firm come calling. The main priority must surely be to make sure the ground remains safe, water-tight etc and at the very least LOOKS better.
  13. If you can believe the BBC stats... Possession 59% (ICT 41%) Shots 11 (ICT 9) On Target 6 (ICT 5) Corners 12 (ICT 2) Fouls 6 (ICT 15) I agree the corners (and indeed all crosses into the box) were poor but we had lots of opportunities to get them right!
  14. Ah the fibreglass 3 wheelers! Billy Ritchie, John Greig, Billy Cunningham and not sure. Russell Brown?
  15. If there is anything the SPFL can do to alienate supporters, they'll do it.
  16. Hello EKJ. The "pundits" on Sportsound yesterday claimed that QP only have one small stand built at Lesser Hampden and that it would not be deemed suitable for the Premiership. The confident prediction was that they would be back playing at the "big" Hampden if they get promoted. That would include 2 x home matches v The Old Firm - say 30,000+? - and generally decent crowds v Hearts/Hibs/Aberdeen etc.
  17. For anyone thinking about going, this is from their website... Tickets for our home match against Partick Thistle on Saturday are are on sale. Just like last season we shall be operating a ticket only entry process meaning your matchday ticket must be purchased online and either printed out or shown on your phone to be scanned before entry to the ground. There will be no cash gates on a matchday. Matchday tickets can be purchased here; Arbroath – https://www.arbroathfc.co.uk/ticketing/home-tickets/ Partick Thistle – https://www.arbroathfc.co.uk/ticketing/away-tickets/
  18. Couldn't agree more! "Passive ownership vehicle", "democratic vehicles", special membership class" "John Lambie Stand Fans" !!!! How will season ticket holders who are not members of the TJF or TJT (and perhaps withheld their permission for their details to be passed on the the Trust) become beneficiaries of the PTFC Trust? Does the penultimate paragraph imply that anyone renewing or buying a season ticket for the first time will have their details shared by the club and the Trust and the Foundation by default?
  19. Couldn't help notice McGregor had a kick at him as he was about to score. A keeper (IMO) who has "previous" and has got away with a lot in his time at Rangers). I wonder what would have happened if Tiff had missed because of the kick or gone down. Penalty awarded during an uncontested attempt at goal? Tiff booked for diving?
  20. "the lure of Motherwell" There's a phrase you don't hear every day!
