  1. Just to play Devil's Advocate, I just wonder if this is just rather too bold a statement. It could, of course, be true that every Thistle fan favours fan ownership but could it equally be true that it only refers to fans that use this site? I'm not aware of many, if any, contributions expressing as differing view but there may well be a sizeable number (perhaps a majority?) of fans who don't want fan ownership or don't have a view at all. Looking at the 3BC statement this caught my eye. 'By way of an update, since 9th April we have had one note of interest...' Could this just be ambiguous enough to mean a bid to buy the shares from a 'rich individual'? If I were a rich businessman looking to buy a football club (which I'm not!) I might take the view that PTFC was an easy target at the moment.
  2. D'you ever wish you hadn't started a new thread?
  3. Both of them, actually!
  4. Correct. The FA agreed Arsenal could fly to Newcastle and back for a cup-tie but only on the condition the club took out their own insurance policy. The FA policy only covered actual matches.
  5. Fed up reading about players we might or might not sign? Fed up reading about legal documents that might or might not have been delivered/actioned? Any takers for a close-season trivia thread? I'll start things off... In 1932 the FA refused Plymouth Argyle permission to do something. In February 1936 they gave Arsenal permission to do it. What was it?
  6. Out of curiosity, how do you know this for a fact?
  7. For the benefit of those of us who have completely or partially lost the plot, could someone explain what it is we're waiting for? A week into the close season and we're already blessed with several groups/splinter groups/boards/committees/trusts - call them what you will - and votes. Even the occasional mention of lawyers. Just like old times!
  8. As I walked past the away turnstiles at the Dunfermline game I say their fans being frisked. Clearly not foolproof. Wasn't there a flare set off by them early doors? Clearly doesn't work at Ibrox either.
  9. As I mentioned several weeks ago, QP's win today means at least another week before Thistle can start work on the pitch.
  10. Tiffoney is undoubtedly a talented and exciting player but Carson had him in his pocket for most of the 180 minutes. It remains to be seen if he could cut it at a higher level but if he goes, good luck to the lad. Unless Bannigan has been playing with an injury, he has been virtually anonymous in these two games. Sad to say but his future may not be what it used to be! 18 goals in 22 matches in 2022 tells it's own story. It's not possible to continually rely on a defence to defend a 1-0 win or 0-0 draw.
  11. "...history is on our side" Error! Error! Does not compute Does not compute Error! Error!
  12. Thistle have never won a home play-off match. 1897-98 DUNDEE H 0 2 1995-96 DUNDEE UNITED H 1 1 2005-06 STRANRAER H 1 2 2005-06 PETERHEAD H 1 2 2017-18 LIVINGSTON H 0 1 2021-22 INVERNESS CALEDONIAN THISTLE H 1 2
  13. Whatever qualities Billy Dodds has a manager, I don't think putting two men on Tiffoney required much thought. Most teams have done this all season.
  14. I'll take a punt on (a young) Jim Fleming. [Pitch is looking in good nick.]
  15. A disappointing January window coupled with an already small squad suffering injuries. Looks to me that some of the players are running on empty. 17 goals in 20 matches since the turn of the year tells it's own story.
  16. Highlights up on AUFC official site if you have the stomach for them. Better quality than the live stream. Performance no better however!
  17. According to their website there appears to be a live stream available for £18.
  18. Holt has missed 2 matches this season AJ:- Ayr 1/2/22 and Raith Rovers 26/2/22. I agree he has been consistently good all season and a worthy candidate for the short-list.
  19. My my. I've been a member (beneficiary?) of the PTFC Trust since it was established. I'm looking forward to receiving my first communication from them! Ref a point made above on ST holders. Take the average crowd announced at Firhill since we were allowed back in. Deduct the figure for away fans. That leaves, broadly speaking, a core home support. That calculated figure seems to me to be worryingly close to the number of STs sold this season. Either most ST holders are attending and we are attracting very few PATG supporters or (worse still) were are doing so but it's the ST holders who aren't attending. The latter doesn't bode well for 2022/23. PS. Agree no distinction should be made between ST and PATG supporters. We all have (increasing) financial constraints.
  20. From Wikipedia " In 1980 she was found guilty of shoplifting and fined £75 for stealing a can of tuna and a carton of cream worth 87 pence from her village grocer". Late in life she admitted to being a compulsive shoplifter. She was found dead in her bath a few days after he court appearance.
  21. I assume the "rules" currently applying in England will apply up here? Since it was introduced I've often wondered... a) Are referees contractually obliged to go over and see an incident on the TV? Is it permissible for them to stick to their original decision and decline? b) If they do consult the TV, again, do they have the scope to say "thanks but no thanks"? I don't think I've ever seen either of these scenarios. If they have no scope, why all the faffing about? All that needs to happen is they get a message in their ear to say an incident has been reviewed and the decision is whatever and told to implement it.
  22. His only appearance was v Clyde on 9/2/85. His throwing the ball out to around half-way was a novelty in the days of booting the ball from hand. However it finally backfired when he threw the ball out to a Clyde player and he fumbled the resultant shot from 18 yards for a 0-1 win.
  23. 160 starts with No 11 shirt, 2 @ No 7, 3 @ No 9 and 1 sub appearance = 166. But like you Jaggernaut I seem to recall him at LB on occasion. I suspect this was tactical rather than by design, playing deep when needed.
