  1. The other side of a running track but not as big a distance as Meadowbank or Cowdenbeath
  2. It's not a complaint simply an observation that the marketing of it could have been more inclusive, something that we pride ourselves on being. Like others I could never pay a wedge of cash for this but I'd happily have bought a ticket every few home games last season so they'd have had a tenner from me and loads of others. Turning one of the prizes over to a raffle would still have left 4 for the auction and you'd likely make 1k plus in raffle sales.
  3. Making it a bid opens it up to an exclusive group of people that can afford to spend large sums of money to try and obtain the prize. I would like to see the club being inclusive to all and offering a raffle ticket prize, perhaps sold every week of the previous season, that would mean anyone could achieve this opportunity.
  4. That night at Tynecastle we stood in the Gorgie end and hand on heart we never knew that we had conceded goals until the cheers from the Hearts fans made it to our end. The snow blew down the park into our faces for 90mins non stop and only the fact that we could see an outline of a keeper in front of us meant that we knew the match hadn't been abandoned.
  5. And the season before we had 800+ every game that Killie had. The difference is the Celtic factor, nothing more, and this season we'll likely be higher than them again.
  6. The 2 players to have moved to other SPFL clubs have both made contradictory statements and it raises concerns with me about why they've chosen to go at this time. I hope it's simply that they're chasing the money. But it reminds me of the last time we lost players to the teams around us in the league when guys like Hardie & Burns got out to avoid an impending disaster.
  7. He clearly isn't the brightest lightbulb in the display.
  8. "Against Hearts things started well enough with Alex O’Hara giving Thistle the lead after 11 minutes after Smith had saved an Ian Jardine shot. Thistle created, and missed, several chances to extend that early lead but their attacking thrusts were blunted by the early withdrawal, due to injury, of Donald Park. With just three minutes of the 90 remaining a young man by the name of John Robertson popped up to net an equaliser for Hearts leaving the Thistle fans frustrated in the extreme." Oh and I got huckled by the police and thrown out for over-celebrating our goal. I used my season ticket to sneak back into the stand (thank God we didn't have CCTV in those days)
  9. Fantastic reading Tom. This was the season that I started following the Jags home and away without my dad (was at every game that season apart from the away Celtic match) and as a 13 year-old the threat of oblivion was offset in a whirl of away trips to Methil, Kirkcaldy and repeated journeys at short notice to Kilmarnock (the reason for which will no doubt be mentioned in a later instalment). It was also made easier watching the most talented Jags youth player for a generation. I think the financial issues that season shaped my attitude to the many later problems that the club faced so I've never really been one to panic when things seem bleak as invariably they improve and then get crap again.
  10. Aw man I'm in Olhao in 4 weeks, it'd have been brilliant to see a Jags team play when in Portugal.
  11. 19 home games is the norm, not 18 (but not guaranteed)
  12. Is that Alan McConville? Was his nickname 'bunker'?
  13. https://uk.proxfree.com/permalink.php?url=s54aaHA%2FaGsaD5vHs0QZLcUclS%2FcUxrnNZwEMCiA0I8M4sqq%2Fa3fN8AH7xa287f3tGD%2Fraa1zETuQdBtfOFKfgt4fPiX6Vr20BMacQx2Y%2B4dotkOg0Ja0q7QpjzBM2yNg12abyHsWIydu5n5VS9we%2FWxA9bpj4fVlvtFMHx2p9w%3D&bit=1
  14. Just back home after the long drive up and back. Fantastic performance not reflected in the narrow scoreline. We were so dominant it was unreal, all County had to offer was random dives in the penalty area in hope of a soft penalty award. .
  15. Funnily enough just 2 weeks ago a work colleague was telling me of a lawyer he knows that is working on a restructuring that would see £100k invested in Thistle. I assumed that it is connected to the south terracing, but maybe not.
  16. And still making a loss even when the debt is written off...crazy!
  17. My favourite memory of Morton away around that time is the midweek match that we won with 9 men. As was common in the 80s we had the bus window smashed in on the way home.
  18. The same Rangers support that cheered Craig Whyte into the club..... However at that time they didn't know he was a criminal, King however it's all out there in the public domain
  19. If you're counting grounds, rather than teams, then East Stirling & Stenny is just one ground. Oh and I've seen us win at both Ochilview and Firs Park.
  20. Brilliant! Amending the thread to hide that you were accusing Archie of 'losing the plot' before a ball had been kicked.
  21. When I see the team on a Saturday my natural reaction is that there are things I don't know that has dictated the managers choice (injuries/knocks, training performance, attitudes, illness, match tactics etc). To offer an opinion is one thing but to slate the manager even before his chosen team has set a foot on the pitch is just shameful.
  22. And some Jags fans that deliberately sing FTP & FTP or FTQ & FTQ (showing their own religious intolerance)
  23. Couldn't agree more. That's why yesterday hurt so much cos we were simply outfought by an average Ross County team.
