  1. Smallest man on the pitch scores a headed goal from a corner.
  2. Completely embarrassed by that.
  3. I’m presuming we will win the league - slightly ambitious I know. But after the way the SPFL encouraged their members to relegate us, including the dark arts they used to persuade Dundee to amend their original voting intention, should we accept their trophy. I think we should not and if we do return it immediately back to sender.
  4. Got to laugh at the SPFL response - ‘damaging impact on the very fabric of our sport’, ‘a cynical and very worrying attempt to thwart the core principle of sporting merit’ , we all need to ‘work together to do what is right and protect the very essence of the game’. Hold on is that the same mob that engineered our unfair relegation ?
  5. Constantly depending on Graham to score from a cross. But it needs to be right on Graham’s forehead for him to score. He hasn’t the power or strength to barge onto a ball and score. We need to mix it up a bit.
  6. How do you know ‘game would of been over’ ?
  7. I don’t see it that way . Wright’s brilliant save provided us with a point as opposed to Senna’s miss losing 2 points.
  8. Draw fair result. Senna should of scored but equally we were saved by Wright when Cove were right through on the thistle goal. On the contrary to some posters I thought Senna was superb today despite his miss. The second half performance does offer a measure of optimism.
  9. So are you saying we should play football indoors in the winter .
  10. Summer football will need to compete with other summer pursuits - golf, bowls, hill walking, climbing sailing, gardening, holidays etc. For me it will mean markedly lower crowds at games. I for one won’t attend Firhill as much if the weather is good at weekends.
  11. Archie must be laughing up his cuff - you replaced me with him.
  12. I would love to see all the jags support celebrating Edwards scoring doing the Edwards kangaroo jive. It would be a marvellous site for everyone.
  13. theestle, on 29 August 2016 - 09:16 Hello Metz - I regular pay £52 to get me and my 2 kids entry to Firhill.on Surely that allows me to criticise the grey seats. I thought this thread developed about the general condition of the stadium I could critisice a lot more if you want.
  14. What I'm irritated about is the grey seats in the JH stand. Probably originally there was a lack of cash and there happened to be a cheap grey seat merchant available. But we must be the only team in Europe where the main used stand seats do not represent the colours worn by the team. It would make a big difference if we had blocks of red, yellow and black.
  15. For me it seemed that hearts were the home team and we were the away team. Hearts had most of the ball and we threatened on the break. The last 15 minutes had hearts with the ball the majority of the time and for me they looked the more likely to score. Their winner was a result of 3 defendable instants - Thomas should of had a better punch, Abdul should of headed more strongly & Thomas should of got something on watts angled shot. Hearts were the better team overall but we could of won the match if we were a tad more thoughtful in front of goal. Agreed it is about time we got points from the great unwashed, the sheep and Edinburgh rangers cause I think we are good enough.
  16. Some posts in here appear to be terrified about playing Hearts tomorrow more so than playing Aberdeen at pittodre or Celtic at the unused washroom. Its only Hearts we are playing, there is nothing to fear - Dundee & Kilmarnock have both drawn there and they drew at tynecastle against a Championship team on Saturday (not even the one at the top). There is nothing to fear. 1-0 Thistle.
  17. No-one looking forward to the game is happy with the postponement - but please get over it. Because of the vagaries of Scottish weather it comes down to bad luck. If the game was scheduled for today it would of been on. If the St Johnstone game was scheduled for the day after boxing day it would of been on. Apart from this season I can only think of 1 game which was postponed over the last few seasons. The only solution is a plastic pitch (does anyone really want that) or a roof which is impossible. You just need to accept the geographical positioning of Scotland or move country and support another team.
  18. I’m not sure what the solution is to reduce postponements or to ensure standards of football are not affected by the adverse pitch conditions. Certainly this latest postponement will not help Thistle as the rescheduling resulting in the ‘cramming’ of fixtures into a shorter period can only adversely affect results to a team with such a threadbare squad. Injuries may ensure key players will miss twice as many matches. A winter shut down in theory will work in a country where the weather is predictable – it really isn’t in Scotland and I’m sure we will have many occasions when shutdowns are in force when the weather is practicable for football and closes just when the rotten weather is upon us. Summer football, again, in theory sounds good but will inevitably lead to lower crowds as football will be in competition with other summer pursuits – holidays, golf, cycling, hill walking, gardening etc etc. For me football is a winter sport. The other alternative is artificial pitches – the Kilmarnock one appeared ok to me but I’d rather see the next generation of surfaces before I’d want them installed at Firhill.
  19. I agree Kingsley has been a positive force for the club. However the contribution by the Weirs has far surpassed Kingsley's contribution. Through the Weirs academy which will hopefully ensure a stead supply of home grown talent to embellish the senior team or bring in hefty transfer revenue, and the removal of the jags debt allowing for a bigger playing budget (ok I recognise the Weirs won £161m - but they didn't have to provide any money, unlike Kingsley financed through commercialism). This is enormous for Thistle. Is there any suggestions which the Jags fans can use to show our heartfelt gratitude to the Weirs ?
  20. In my experience both sets of fans (if that is the correct description) hate each other more than they like their own team. I play 5 side with 9 celtic supporters and they're psychopathic about rangers. I have never known a set of people to dislike another organisation like how they do. If I behaved in the same fashion about Clyde they'd get me sectioned. 10% of their 'football' chat is about Celtic the remaining 90% is about rangers. Thats no basis for being a football supporter. Whats more despite me wearing a jags top every week the claim I'm a closet rangers fan and I'm subjected to being called a H*n very regularly. Both sets are not football supporters.
  21. For me Abdul Osman was the mom yesterday. On numerous occasions he broke up the county play when it matter - he battles tirelessly and anyone can see that if there is a 50/50 ball big Abdul will come out with the ball. Going forward he is clueless but that's not his job. He has a very unglamorous job of breaking up attacking play and then despatching a short ball to a colleague so his pursuits are sometimes unnoticed I do worry without Abdul how Thistle will cope in that vital role.
  22. I do like the idea of experimenting with trying Dumbya in a more forward role - if he can ghost past 3 players from a defensive position what would he be like up front, he'd be through on goal on several occasions each match. Also, we should remember it was Amoo's penetrating run that led to Doolan's goal. I do agree we need more out of Amoo but he does bring a wing dynamic to the team.
