  1. Has it been definitely confirmed that Chris Erskine is suspended for Tuesday? My (admittedly limited) understanding is that the suspension is served in the same competition unless the dismissal was for "violent conduct". So I presume for example handball, diving, timewasting or non-violent swearing at the referee would not be deemed to be violent conduct. Is every "physical foul" violent conduct? If so, Chris will be suspended. If not, I would have thought that the level of violence has to be assessed by someone (presumably the referee). While definitely a red card offence, this was more of an accidental lunge endeavouring to recover a loss of control of the ball rather than an intentional two feet flying through the air in a deliberate attempt to injure the other player type of challenge. So, if relevant, has the referee definitely reported this as violent conduct thus putting Chris out of the game on Tuesday? Could someone with the relevant knowledge of the rules correct any misconceptions!
  2. I might have thought that myself a couple of years back, but I do believe that Scully has come on hugely since then. Typed this a long time ago but forgot to send! Anyway just back from Firhill. Ryan no chance with either goal and stood up calmly and confidently to the late pressure.
  3. Agreed Barney. Scully definitely unless Cerny 100% fit to go for whole game.
  4. We must insist on immediate payment by wire transfer to our current account. We can then buy Meterovic from Newcastle. Atmosphere on Friday should be electric and I am expecting the ohm team to show more resistance. Coat already on to save on heating bills.
  5. Vale are flying to the game. Leithen on a jet plane.
  6. BB, if she works for Energy Check, you might want to meet her. Sorry, I will get my coat.
  7. From being at the game, I would want to add my ditto to that. Apart from the frustration of losing a third tactical substitution I am no longer concerned when Ryan replaces Tomas. In the areas where Tomas is excellent Ryan is not far behind, and in some respects, for example kicking from hand Ryan could claim to be superior.
  8. Shaggy is much too pleasant and intelligent to even pretend to be a bad cop
  9. There was poetic justice in Ross County being undone from a throw in. We are all used to players stealing 5 or 10 yards and taking a throw in well forward from where the ball went out. Just prior to Dools' intervention, County were not shy about coming forward and stole about 30 yards at a throw in from around the same general area, while referee and assistant slept. If TJR kept stats for yards stolen at throw ins at Thistle games, this would have been top of the list for at least the last century, although I appreciate that measurement data from nineteenth century games may be a trifle uncertain.
  10. Analysis of the list on his 50 goal thread indicates that Chis Erskine has scored more goals at Dingwall than at any other ground apart from Firhill. All 4 were I believe scored at the traditional Thistle end. To add to that he netted at the other end in a Challenge Cup penalty shoot out. I am expecting that record to be improved today. Go Squiddy!
  11. Chris must really hate Falkirk! Has a habit of scoring in Dingwall as well, so let us hope for more of the same on Saturday.
  12. If I can be permitted a lighthearted comment at this sad time, if we are going to have a round of applause in a minute to reflect Harry's age, we will need a lot of added time!
  13. Yes indeed very sad news and thoughts are with his family and friends. I do not know what turns his health took over the past short while, but it does seem that he was able to enjoy attending Firhill regularly at least up until the end of last season.
  14. I thought it was a Shakesperean drama school as in Much Edu About Nothing.
  15. Amazingly, Thistle almost won 3 times in the league at Pittodrie that season, although it may surprise some to realise that Aberdeen were then a bottom 6 outfit. First time round David Lilley arrived at the far post as above to notch the only goal of the game. Second time round, same result, as the King of Spain split the defence to send Toastie through. The fixtures committee conspired to give us a 3rd chance and incredibly we took the lead once more. I cannot recall the score with certainty but think it might have been Toastie Burns again. Sadly Kenny Arthur went walkabout as mentioned in the recent Scott Fox thread to gift an equaliser and we ended up losing 2-1. The only consolation was that results elsewhere that day meant that we had definitely survived in the Premier League for one more season.
  16. LIB, how did this orthodox non-attacking full back find himself arriving at the far post to slot in Ricky Waddell's cross to score a rare winner at Pittodrie?
  17. Barney, given the amount of time you must spend in his company, I am surprised that you never mention the views on Thistle of your pal Fred Flintstone. I think he must be a happy clapper!
  18. Apologies to Chris for mentioning Denis McQuade who then hijacked the thread! Somehow, I don't think Chris would mind. I think I was the last person to stop calling Chris "Big Bird". Can TJR or another statto help with comparative stats re Denis and Chris-games played, goals scored etc? I suspect that they might be quite similar in many respects, but Chris must dominate the sub or be subbed category.
  19. Question to contestant on Mastermind. "What's the biggest benefit of being a Glasgow Warriors rugby supporter?" Several seconds of awkward silence and head scratching. "Pass" "Correct!"
  20. Maybe he tripped over one of his names.
  21. Was it not John Robertson for accidentally treading on Steven Craig?
  22. Rather than chase him down are we not better to find hiding places from which to pop out?
  23. So many quality goals. Recent one at McDiarmid Park was pretty good. How about the League clincher against Falkirk or the strike against Hibs during his loan spell with us? And as Auld Jag has said, a quality individual, modest, seff-effacing and willing to have a laugh at himself. Always appreciative of and has time for the fans. A worthy successor to Denis McQuade, delightfully unpredictable on the pitch, and predictably delightful off it.
  24. My recollection is that we recorded a 2-1 viictory at Easter Road towards the end of the next season and indeed it was our only away win of a disappointing campaign that ended in relegation. I am guessing that the scorers were Jamie Mitchell and Billy Gibson.
