I guess you get exactly what you pay for in life
-
...this just in... Entire Jags support in surprise transfer deal to relocate to Dunfermline so that propco can sell stadium to a branch of the Dunfermline Building Society. Says Algarvejag, "Dunfermline... they are only team I ever wanted to play for support".

Hmmmmm, can I put in a request to be buried there at a 45 degree angle?
-
Were any of them any better than the current squad?
-
I also think that it's helpful when the youth setup allows for younger players to 'grow' playing together. Manchester United's 1992 FA Youth Cup-winning squad included David Beckham, Nicky Butt, Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs with Scholes and Phil Neville part of the team that reached the final again in '93. You need a full youth set-up to be able groom a young team and not just for identifying individuals or you might as well just scout for individuals in other teams youth teams.

Interesting stuff about what age you have to be to have the experience to play at this level. Link this with the recent threads about our current goalie choice dilemma and I'd point out that Alan Rough was 19 years old in 1971. Bring on the yoof

So long as all these new boys have their contracts double dated before we play Coulter I'll be happy.
-
"Nowadays you might be middle aged and a bit thick." Excuse ME! I resemble that remark! ...what do you mean "nowadays"?
-
"RANGERS star Kyle Hutton was hit with a £400 speeding fine yesterday - and asked for three months to pay it." ...he must be hoping for a big win bonus in the the next 93 days!

Elliot and Doolan get one apiece in the second half after going a goal down in the 5th minute. I just read in my tea leaves. They don't say which one scores first or whether I should buy a lottery ticket or not

Scotland under 19 & 21 caps, 3 Champions League games (Man Utd et al) and a Cup Final appearance should suggest an old head on young shoulders. I hope he's not bringing a load of excess baggage with him though. Good luck to the lad and I hope he decides to set himself firmly in the shop window for his return to Ibrox in 3 months time.

will we be expected to supply all of Bournmouth's replacement for a replacement striker in future?
-
Just a pun'o'mince and some links for Angelina, no wonder we didn't get anything at all for Martin Grehan!
-
so many missed journalistic opporchancities... "Tomb Raider to Exhume Dreary Jags From SFL Graveyard" "Pitt's are the Jags" any more for any more? (sits back and awaits the torrent)

The club has already stated that they will be using the same shorts and socks for both kits and on Greaves site the shorts and socks are listed as Home/Away. The shorts do look as though they are designed for the SFL website Away Kit image so there you have it... You heard it/saw it from the SFL first.

The Lady Isobel and Merryhell speaketh the truth as it should be spoke. I'd love to get behind Scottish teams in Europe and beyond but it's hard to get behind teams where their supporters profess some form of allegiance outside of Scotland - it smells worse than the English superior attitude alluded to earlier with regard to the 'home nations'. I have no allegiance to Aberdeen, Dundee United or St Mirren and I have good reason to feel animosity toward any one of them but my Scottish Pride would rise to the surface if they were playing Bayern Munich in any round of any competition (I draw that particular line at Dundee and Airdrie by the way). Partick Thistle - the first, the last my everything and this is a ridiculous post because I'm more inclined to be a Buddy or an Arab than to find any connection with the diddy teams that play in blue or green. (annoyed with myself now for replying to such an inane and unworthy post)

Official site confirmation says "for another season" when Maxwell had indicated that Paton had been offered a 2 year deal. Good news all the same.

I'll play MerryHell as well but it's time for a goalfest... 6 points for us Thistle 0-2 Falkirk Falkirk 0-4 Thistle Falkirk 0-6 Thistle Is anyone else enjoying the half price Japanese Sushi at the moment by the way?

Just 3 more goals to equal the career total for Dunfermline Centre Forward Buchanan!!!
-
What's the contractual position here? Would they have to pay a fee and would we be in line for a slice?

QUOTE The SPL chief executive conceded that most football fans, and many players and managers, would prefer a larger top flight. "I think there is no doubt that, if you ask most supporters what they prefer, a bigger league playing once home and away is what they would want," he said. END QUOTE How many businesses survive that so blatantly ignore the wishes of their customers? Are these people listening to the verbal diarrhea that they they espouse? It is no wonder that attendances continue to fall; never mind Catch 22, the lunatics are running the asylum. Idiots!

Dunfermline were very unlucky against their SPL opponents yesterday clearly having benefited from a footballing Master Class lesson at Firhill. St Johnstone lost to Aberdeen 1-0 in August and then beat them by a Zander Diamond own goal in the 83rd minute the last time they met so there is nothing in it there. Ipsofacto we stand to beat them by a couple of goals on recent form subject to retaining the proverbial bottle and the law of billy bunter averages. Then again, if my auntie had a c@ck she'd be my uncle. 'mon the Jags!!!

Once again M'Lady is spot on. Football is a game of rules and these arbitrary arrangements fly in the face of common sense. There is nothing new in all of this with clubs like Dundee, Motherwell and Gretna having given us plenty to discuss and for the SFL to agree a way forward in the past. Deciding on an arbitrary number of points leaves too much of the decision to emotion rather than playing by the rules (Ref; "I know this is your second yellow card but your team's trailling by three goals so can stay on the pitch"). This is like being sent to jail but told that you have five months to escape the cuffs by wriggling free and we won't chase you if you shout 'in den(s park) one, two three'. The SFL need to set out their policy for the future then

Gordon Chisholm on George Knight... “He’s a nice guy and down to earth but they all got blinded by Calum Melville’s money.” Whoever the Jags Trust nominate to sit with the BOD will need many of the qualities described throughout this thread but most of all they will need the support of the trust, it's members and jags fans. Without that they will not have the mandate nor the confidence to stand up and say what they think and what they think the average fan would be saying if they were in the room at that time. They also have to have the freedom to report to the trust, as their representative, exactly what is being discussed and agreed about the future of the club that we all fund. It is a thankless task and one where the bearer is likely to feel as welcome as the very unwelcome thing in a spacesuit and again that is why this role can only be tasked to someone of immense character and fortitude - forget business acumen and an entrepreneurial spirit this role needs someone with a tough skin and an understanding that you can't please all of the people all of the time but you must represent their views as truthfully and honestly and without personal bias as is humanly possible. It's not a popularity contest for Mr/s Nice Guy.
