  1. Of course it’s early days. But yesterday’s game exposed an inherent weakness on the right side of defence. All the goals came through that channel. I would hope management will review because all 4 were easy, gifts. There appeared no cover for Foster. I’ve no idea where O’Ware was and Turner and Docherty(who had a shocker) disappeared. Already I’m thinking that midfield 3 isn’t going to work. Not sure why some are blaming Sneddon. Blameless for all 4 goals. Has McKenna done something wrong? Couldn’t believe he wasn’t on at ht. We should have been 3 up. We were playing some great stuff. The non strikers need to be told that they are expected to score. Docherty misses far to many chances because he doesn’t consider himself a goal scorer.
  2. This was a good performance. The CB’s were excellent. Steven Bell must have been a great player when he was young! Big Tam looked like a different player from the slumbering giant who appeared from Morton. Graham had an unbelievable shift and looked fit and strong. I’m warming to him. Tiff was sharp but needs to work on his delivery. We lack creativity if he’s not firing. The 2 central mids may well be the best partnership in the league. Bring it on with 2 or 3 loan signings.
  3. There are 4 players in the team who are not at that level which obviously provides a problem when we play the better teams. All 4 are hard working and 100% men but simply not good enough. They’ve done their job but should be replaced as long as there’s someone better to come in. I hope Gilmour, Turnbull and Patterson can fill the gaps but we desperately need a striker with pace, control, attitude, physicality and finishing skills. Can Nisbet continue his improvement?
  4. Paterson should have played against the poorest team in our group. He’d have been a huge improvement on SOD’s early attempts at attack. In Tierney’s absence we could have played a Liverpool back 4 system with 2 ultra attacking full backs and McTominay providing cover. Not sure about chucking Paterson in against a skilful England team. Perhaps we should sit in with our strongest defence and hope for a point, then throw everything at Croatia.
  5. Oh Gawd. Rugby Park! There is nothing attractive about that place. We’ve missed some cracking days out this season!
  6. Not McDaid! He’s no Kevin Nisbet. No pace. Unable to beat a man. Poor delivery. Tiffoney is way, way better. McCowan yes. But is he under contract?
  7. Good old days. To return hopefully. SOD and ATS left us with great memories. But they won’t play for us again.
  8. Do not preach to me! You may disagree over who we dislike more but we are all entitled to an opinion. And I have been a PTFC fan for 60 years. Who the Hell are you?
  9. Kilmarnock is the worst option for us. The ground and the fans are rancid. The pitch is not a football pitch. A pint or lunch pre game would be met with abuse from Sevco- like supporters. And we always get beat. I detest Kilmarnock. Always have. Ive always found Dundee fans to be ok. There’s a great pub on the road into Dundee with food, real ale and football on telly. And it’s a grass pitch ffs! Yes, I’m supporting Kilmarnock in the play off!
  10. Foster was terrific in the 2nd half of the season. He was an excellent influence and obviously enjoyed his football again. He deserves his contract. However I’m concerned about an ageing squad as he, Bell, Graham, Cardle are all well into their 30’s , all vital members of our title winning squad. Can we afford to re-sign them all?
  11. Hansen’s performance that day was the best I’ve ever seen from a Jags player (sorry Roughie, but you were just consistently brilliant and therefore it was accepted).
  12. McCall will now be busy putting together a squad to challenge. Who should we re-sign? Who should we sign? Who should we get rid of?
  13. Can McCall persuade his targets to join us? Tiff and Bell would be my main ones. They were both superb and played with skill and passion. A progressive Thistle would be much preferable to a declining Livi and a non league team. McCall’s contacts and knowledge of our came will hopefully allow us to receive be very competitive.
  14. Tonight’s game was fairly inconsequential. But it showed that our reserve strength is weak, especially at the back. There was little protection for the back 4 and we lost too many 50:50’s. Murray’s miss was shocking, Penrice had a ‘mare and Senna was surprisingly outmuscled. Lyons has done nothing all season. But wee Joe was terrific and Lyon looks a real prospect, running at pace, side stepping and passing well. This game will be forgotten when we kick off next season.
  15. I thought he was rubbish till Zac came on board. Now he’s brilliant! But I would like to see him cheer up.
  16. The last 2 games have shown how much we’ve missed Banzo. Previously we have dominated through him and Doc. Gordon gives the ball away too much so surely Penrice who is strangely not getting a start will step in. Weve shown that we are better than other teams now so let’s get back to providing Tiff and Rudd with good possession and get at them straight away.
  17. It’s worse than the old red pitches at Temple. How the hell can they play professional football on that?
  18. We now appear to have the defence sorted. Bell has made a big difference as has McKenna. These are proper defenders that we need in this league. Although we miss Williamson in attack, we now have Tiffoney who causes problems with his pace and is better at delivering a final ball. Rudden, Murray, Foster and Graham have all improved since he arrived. And The central mids appear to have found a way of working together. We should do it although I thought Cove are the only team to have outplayed us. But that was before we became brilliant again!!
  19. It’s always nice to condemn the low life. But we need to improve our delivery against better teams.
  20. Oh dear McCall needs to kick his attackers bums at ht. Passing and crossing abysmal but complete dominance.
  21. We played some great stuff against a stuffy team that previously gave us problems. Tiffoney makes a massive difference, giving us skill and pace and an out ball. Graham appears to have lost his attitude problem and the defence is tighter with the additions of 2 experienced defenders. We still have problems of course as Rudden and MacIver appear not good enough. But let’s give them some credit tonight and hope we can smash Clyde on Tuesday.
  22. Come back to Firhill. Scream, shout, encourage, sing. Despair when we lose. But please don’t bring your abuse and foul language to our sacred spot.
