  1. He’s getting better but still needs guidance from McCall. Another season with us, especially if it’s in the PL would be great for him.
  2. Very few passmarks. Sneddon, Tiff and Mayo only. Strikers were unable to hold it up, win headers or pass properly. Shocking! Smith and Maciver looked better.
  3. All the goals were well constructed. Although Accies’ defence could probably have done better on occasion, there wasn’t one blatant error which led to any of our goals. So we had to create 6 (and more) opportunities for goals and some missed chances. Well done the team! It’s about time we benefited from an opposition howler. We’ve coughed up a few ourselves.
  4. Don’t be so precious. He was having a laugh as I suspect the players were during the interview. The team spirit is there for all to see and McCall is part of that.
  5. Went to the game and just watched it back. Tiffoney was magnificent! Front 4 were all good. Zak just needs to get a bit stronger and stay on his feet and he’ll be very very good. Interviews, commentary, punditry and coverage were excellent.
  6. Perhaps he has a move lined up (to us?) and he’s asked to be released. Hes good around the edge of the box. We’re rubbish round the edge of the box.
  7. Haha Not sure about that. Let’s find out. They’ve looked pretty good coming on as subs recently and Gordon’s had some serious injuries. Im fed up with right backs who offer nothing in attack.
  8. He needs to shake the team up. Murray and Gordon should start.
  9. An excellent post but I’m not sure if I agree with the last sentence. This is where a good manager rises above the dross, and we have had plenty dross over the years. Give McCall some credit and time to sort the problem areas you mention. I believe he can take us to the playoffs which would be progress. Remember we also have a window during which we could possibly sign a midfield ‘gaffer’.
  10. It was an excellent performance with Akinola settling in brilliantly and Holt outstanding up and down the left. Don’t know if he came deeper but Tiff was fantastic 2nd half. I agree with the tenor of this post. If we are to challenge, we need to sort out- Stodgy midfield Both central mids are excellent footballers but they have no dynamism or desire to get into the box. Right side Foster is a good player but is slow and his delivery poor. There is very little positive attacking from the right. I thought Gordon should have been at right back to provide more attacks. Smith had little support. Set pieces without Turner All wasted! More consistency from Rudden. He took his goal brilliantly to show his talent but needs 100% concentration for 90 minutes to step up a level.
  11. A reshuffle is now required. The Docherty/Bannigan thing is simply ponderous. No dig, no pace, no incisive passing, no arriving in the box for a pass or cut back. If Banzo’s injured perhaps Doc is required but we don’t need both. Give Turner more responsibility. Perhaps Murray could be accommodated on the right of a mid 4. Foster and Graham are looking their age. Good pros no doubt but perhaps it’s time up. To allow that Zanatta to run riot was quite shocking. Time and again he ran across our defence left to right, then passed to the spare man. Sneddon’s save 2nd half was brilliant. It looked like a 1st half pen also. And the goal was amateurish. And he’s a detestable diver. Indeed, they were a horrid, niggly bunch. Perhaps we could learn! It’s poor losing to a team lacking much quality. We’ll find out next week how we compare to the really crap teams in the league. I like Akintola. No idea why Mayo was preferred although I thought he did ok at RB. Gordon changed the game when he came on. No way was Sneddon culpable. Akinola, Hendrie , Gordon, Rudden to start next week please.
  12. Didn’t mean that at all. My point is that expectation levels are at play off level. We have a good manager who will do well to get us there. Other teams have players os a similar standard but I don’t think any of ours would walk into any of the top teams. Except Tiff who is fab!
  13. Some of those 7 mentioned don’t even walk into the Thistle team never mind any other team. Because they’re not very good! Have you seen some of those defenders’worthy of a championship challenge’ being rag dolled by Arbroath and Caley and taken apart by Killie? Some of them are not very good! As for the strikers, they’ve rather gone off the ball! Both were stinkin against Killie. Perhaps they’re not very good. Graham looked washed up. There are better players scattered throughout the league who would walk into our team so it would be an achievement by McCall to get us to the playoffs.
  14. A few observations If Tiff is well marked we have no pace or flair. I thought Akinola looked excellent. He shouldn’t be left out. We appear to lose belief far too easily. No midfielders ever ‘risk’ getting on the end of cut backs. McKenna is not a full back. Ball winning mid possibly. The loan signings haven’t impressed. Where is Hastie?
  15. Perhaps you’re suggesting that Turner is a luxury player. Hopefully he can contribute more in general play which would considerably raise his usefulness.
  16. The defending for the Broadfoot goal was pitiful. Nobody tackled. Nobody closed down. Nobody charged down. I was also worried how easily Mayo was shrugged aside by the big striker, similar to the rag dolling the Arbroath boy gave him. He needs to man up or be dropped. Perhaps Hendrie will replace Mayo with Holt back to CB. He needs to stick with Sneddon. Hopefully he'll have learned from his howler. Stone had 2 howlers in 15 minutes!
  17. Akinola and Holt must be kept together. Excellent signings (so far). Perhaps Mayo to RB?
  18. I know McCall wants our young players to gain experience but I’m always disappointed that we won’t get to see them play. if they’re any good we only have them for a short time anyway.

    Sena

Good luck to Sena. I hope he returns with rave notices. And silences the above inane chat.
  20. He was an excellent prospect who had insufficient time to fulfill any potential. What a daft move he made although perhaps he’ll now have some money to invest. McCall will have heard through the football grapevine whether he has a bad attitude or possibly just needs some guidance. Hes still young so I’d be happy if our manager’s happy.
  21. Rud and Graham combined well for 1st 2 goals. There we’re 2 or 3 occasions when Rudden knocked the ball to the front post while Graham lurked at the back for another cross. The answer is either to play Tiffoney or an attacking mid who bursts into the box like Lampard(but we don’t have such a player).
  22. I’d be happy to win 3-2 every week or 2 out of every 3 weeks. I doubt that we’ll be promoted but I want to be entertained and see goals. That was an exciting enough game without much class(apart from the ancient Willie Gibson) so more of this please. I don’t like 3 at the back unless we have wing backs who can play as wingers. Felt for McKenna and Foster who don’t suit that system. Mayo needs to improve distribution but looks athletic. The midfield 3 are too similar. A front 3 of Tiffoney, Graham and Rudden = goals. Great to be back!
  23. That’s his level. Lets not pretend. He was awful!
  24. How enthusiastic is he? It’s brilliant to hear him speak like that about young players. There are many who fall by the wayside but it sounds like they’ll have a better chance under Scott’s tutelage. I’ve always wanted Thistle to produce young players similar to the League Cup winning team. Strange days indeed with some only playing a handful of games before moving on but I’d love to see all 5 of those mentioned breaking through.
  25. Rather concerning to see Tiffoney going off clutching his leg. All our creativity comes from him. Nobody gave Ocholi the ball. He looked useful on meagre rations.
