Lovely thought PTD. If I forgot to turn to port at Fraserburgh, missed the Orkneys & Shetlands I'd not end up in Stavanger but in all probability in the Norwegian territory of Svalbard, watching Philip Pullman's lovely shaggy creatures instead of Richard Foster at the Caledonian Stadium! Regrettably my snorkeling days are long gone! By the time I'd got there, you would have had to send me a text telling me the St Johnstone score I have been to the lovely city of Stavanger three times, walking in the hills above the city on the last one. Memorable. I suspect that we will be back there later this year. Hopefully the Jags won't have a mountain to climb after tonight.

Why don't you take Alegria's place on the bench as a warm up for the run That way you certainly get to wear the shirt. I'll be watching both matches, following my usual rituals. As for the bottom qualifier never getting promoted, there's always a first time for everything. I enjoyed meeting both AJ & yourself on my recent Firhill sojourn.

For me Sneddon got an out of jail free card there. But the psychological failure for Dunfermline to score killed any hope they had of getting a result. It for me defined the match.

The pivotal point in the match was the multiple block at the close of the first half. Not just Hendrie - other players got blocks in. The mind set of not conceding was pivotal. I don't recall any real threats after that.

Thanks to you & Auld Jag. Good to meet you too, AJ. Enjoyed the match (completely unexpected!). My previous track record wasn't good - Falkirk matches usually, & null points. Wish I could be at the play offs, but I won't make them, but I'll be in the JL stand in spirit. Pleased at today's win. A sizeable (disappointed) Dunfermline support. I'll be back!!

Can my name also be added to the ever growing list of disgruntled supporters. The contempt shown for hard working people with the Club's future at heart is breathtaking. Donnie MacIsaac.

You must have some size washing machine!!

Lovely touch by Graham for the goal.

Thanks AJ. All well. I'm coming up to Glasgow for the Firhill Dunfermline match on 23 April. I'll be in the JL Stand, & will come down to see you either before or during the match. I'm sure I'll find you in your usual spot!

Done in the Kentish countryside. All the best to you & your wife, AJ. Donnie

The form table for the most recent 6 games (below) graphically shows Morton as the form team, with ICT & Raith Rovers bottom of the table. A lot of teams in the top half of the league table proper will be glad now of their early season points. The truth is that all of the teams in this league are poor.

Will we be dancing on the streets of Raith?

If Juan signs for us, let us hope that he is more Aston Martin rather than Austin Allegro - our previous Austin didn't run too well...... -

His team didn't run out of steam, or sleepwalk anywhere last season. The teams at the foot of the table have pretty much all improved since the start of the year. Disappointing result for us. Still to beat Arbroath, but over the final quarter, the fight for play off places will be tight. -

Quite right, Paralytic Thistle! Well done! Confirmed in the photo caption, below. John Freebairn is one of the growing number of players who now have an extended biography, in the players section in The Archive . He was an excellent athlete, competing in games events well into his twilight years. -
Also known as "The Goal that Never Was" by Barry Cook.

Tommy played in the final games of the old Inter City Fairs Cup that Newcastle won in 1969, beating Oldco on their way to the final, IIRC. When he finished playing, he went back to Armadale to run a pub for a decade or so, and then was involved in the haulage business. Sadly he injured his back, and took early retirement. One of the Newcastle players in their cup winning squad was one Allan Foggon. No truth in the rumour that he was the inspiration for a Lindisfarne hit song." "Foggon the Tyne its all mine all mine......" -

27 January 1968. Tommy Gibb heading wide in the Scottish Cup 1st Round tie against Kilmarnock at Firhill. Well done Jaggernaut!! -
For those of you going to the match tonight, there will be a 1:00 pm pitch inspection in a few hours time.

H, A For me, please. Thanks, BB. Unlucky, PTD, a brave campaign!!

My hope for today is that the referee, unlike McLean last season, applies the rules of football, and not the Marquess of Queensbury Rules. To say that Dundee United players punch above their weight isn't intended as a compliment.
-
SJ, the SPFL rules re players are Rules 16 & 17. They do differ from the SFA Cup Rules, and don't, to me, demand a named sub keeper. I've attached R16 and the start of 17. They do go on for a bit!
-
Sorry for the delay in getting back on this one. I've been busy elsewhere. I suspect that we are talking on cross purposes here. Rule 14 ( below) is from the SFA Cup Rules. This sets out players eligible to play in a match, and does say a nominated substitute keeper must be on the team sheet. To answer Dick Dastardly, it could be an outfield player, but he can only be substituted for the playing goalkeeper, as a keeper. Rather than do that, bring back Kenny Arthur!! If a game is in play, and no substitute keeper can come on if all substitutes have been played or both the original and sub keeper have come off, an outfield player can indeed be nominated as goalkeeper. Oldco had to do this in a game at Parkhead when Roberts went in goal. If I've misinterpreted, happy to hold up my hand.
-
Yes, GRE, we must. Rule 14 does state that a substitute (registered) goalkeeper needs to be named on the team sheet.

Raith board announcement. They got it wrong; Badwillie won't play; the club will enter negotiations to cancel his contract. Who will he go to now? Falkirk? Dundee must be an option- they don't have any morals or scruples. The Boris of Scottish football!!
