Jaggernaut
Those corner floodlights have gone by the time of this photo, replaced by a single central one behind the goal. Also gone is the high wall (terracing looks bigger as a result). That strip came in in 1961-62, so it could be 21st Jan 1961 (1-1), 21st Oct 1961 (4-1), 1st Dec 1961 (Scottish Cup, 2-2) 13th Apr 1962 (2-2) or 2nd Nov. 1963 (2-1). A positive ID of the Thistle player might help to narrow it down.
The Sunnylaw Jag
<p>The four Jags player were Jackie Campbell, Roughie, Andy Anderson and John Marr with future Jag Gregor Stevens. a f kincaid
Another from Stu Jag's collection. Four Jags players and a future Jags player in this one. Campbell, Anderson, Rough and Marr. Gregor Stevens. Looks like these 5 only played 5 times in the same match - 2 Firhill, 3 Fir Park. Doesn't look like Firhill. Think it's Fir Park (low boundary wall) so it's... 20 Nov 1976 (0-3) 31 Dec 1977 (0-2) or 12 Aug 1978 (1-0) Looks too cold and muddy for August so can't narrow it down any further unless a fashion guru can tell by the strips! That strip would appear to be 78/79 according to http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Scottish_Football_League/Partick_Thistle/Partick_Thistle.htm which seems about right

Do I get a goldfish for that? Have a cigar! Gregor Stevens made a grand total of 3 appearances for us: 1 defeat and 2 draws. Clearly a done h un by then, he made a brief stop at Fir Park again after coming back from England, then he moved to Firhill. a f kincaid
Fair enough. Just looked later than August looking at the crowd but probably a typical Scottish summer!

Jaggernaut
Think the jags player in this might be George Smith Oops: the 21st Jan 1961 game was at Easter Rd, so that's out. Smith didn't play in the game at Firhill that season. I've got the years mixed up for a couple of the other games, but he didn't feature in the 1963 game either. Hmm, in season 61-62 we played Hibs no less that six times (W3, D1, L2).
Lindau
Obviously it's a long time ago Jagger but that does look like George Smith to me. Is that Ronnie Simpson in goals for Hibs? Edited January 7, 2015 by Lindau
a f kincaid
Might be Tommy Ewing or Dick Williamson. Certainly Simpson. If so:- It couldn't be.... 1/10/60. Simpson didn't play. It could be.... 30/8/61 (2-1). Ewing, Williamson and Simpson all played. 21/10/61 (4-1). No Ewing but Williamson and Simpson both played. 13/12/61 (2-2) No Williamson but Ewing and Simpson both played. Might just be.... 13/4/63 (2-2). No Ewing or Williamson but haven't been able to find out the Hibs team. Best guess is it's Williamson and 21 October 1961. The Glasgow Herald has a grainy photograph of another Simpson save taken from almost the same spot. But there again............................... Walter
One for the older generation. I'm guessing our No. 3 is the late, great Sandy Brown. No idea who the other is, though his hairstyle was decades ahead of its time. Sorry I'm a month late but is the Celtic player on the right Pat Carroll, scorer of their first ever goal in Europe and a Jags fan?

a f kincaid
Sorry I'm a month late but is the Celtic player on the right Pat Carroll, scorer of their first ever goal in Europe and a Jags fan? Sandy Brown and Neil Duffy. Don't know Carrol but Celtic No 8 looks like Willie Fernie. If so it's either:- 12/11/60 (1-0) or 26/8/61 (2-3) Can't narrow it down any further. Grass looks lush so perhaps August 1961.
Jaggernaut
And the second part with photos of two players who more or less disappeared from the Jags team. http:// Great read. Odd spelling of "Reid" on that photo. He was our regular right back in the 69-70 (relegation) season and then throughout the following season, when we romped through the old 2nd division. Back up in the top flight, he and Bobby Gray took turns in that position, until finally displaced for good by John Hansen.
jaggy
One of my earliest memories is the team getting read out when I started going regularly (prob 2nd division) and it often started as 'Rough, Reid and Ralston'
Jaggernaut
Another from Stu Jag's collection. Tommy Rae is easy to recognise in this match at Tynecastle. But who is the other Jag? (If it's who I think it might be, then the particular match becomes very clear.) And any visual ID's of the Hearts players? Jim Cruickshank (RIP)? Think the Hearts player chasing back next to Rae is Jim Jeffries and the other Thistle player is Stevie Chalmers. Guy next to him may be Anderson. Definitely Cruikshank. That makes it a Cup tie on 16 Feb 1974 (1-1, Gibson). Teams: Cruikshank, Sneddon, Kay,Jeffries, Anderson, Brown, Aird, Gibson, Ford, Stevenson, Prentice. Rough, Hansen, Houston, Rooney, Campbell, Clark, Gibson, Glavin, Rae, Craig, Chalmers.
JeanieD
Hearts centre-back next to Chalmers is, as you say, Alan Anderson - as I recall the match highlights were on the telly and the replay was on the following Tuesday? afternoon - 3 day week power cuts etc. - inevitably we lost 4-1 at Firhill. Jaggernaut
Well done AFK and JeannieD. I wasn't at the 1st game, but went through to Firhill from Stirling for the replay, confident........
