lady-isobel-barnett
That was the downside to Lambie, he was never building for the future. i don't think he ever had 5 years continuous service with any one club as manager. He liked to keep the players on short deals so he could punt them if need be and keep them hungry for a new deal. That strategy became redundant post bosman but Lambie never changed. He also didn't believe in any sort of youth system. The result of all this is that he never left the club in a good position whenever he decided to move on. Agree, Ian. I can tho' see value in making some players hungry for a contract. I guess we can all think of a few post Lambie players that played that much better when needing to "impress". My major point being that guys like Craigan, Rowson, Archie etc always gave their all. The concept of playing for a contract renewal must've been insulting to them. Even if they did leave there would've at least been transfer money involved. Not differentiating between true professionals and those possessing a lesser degree of professionalism was a downside under Lambie.
ian_mac
Absolutely LIB. I probably should have said, there were undoubted benefits to Lambie's way of working. He got the best out of his players, and was always quick to move on anyone that wasn't adding something to the squad.
ThickAsThieves
Andy Anderson was before my time but certainly Arthur and Britton are worthy additions. Never knew The Doc has been with us for so long - so that's another merited induction.
Fawlty Towers
I saw on twitter that there was 5 people inducted last evening - I thought it was just the 4? Can anyone who was there shed some light please?
