BowenBoys
Thanks Fearchar. Was there any inkling of when the committee might deal with it?
Fearchar
The meeting left it in the committee's hands. Presumably the committee is also in touch with the club, as it was mentioned. The advice at the meeting about bidding was to let the seller be disappointed and put in a reasonable (i.e. much lower than £2k) bid just before the closing date and time, so that Jags fans and/or the club wouldn't end up bidding against each other. BowenBoys
I would have thought that the best way to avoid bidding against yourself is communication. Grateful for the info. Jaggernaut
Here's hoping that the club and/or the Jags Trust will be able to purchase this piece of Thistle history.
chrishammett
Fingers crossed nobody bids on this later!

Lindau
Well!? Wits happend?!? Huv we got it! I just got a fingy sayin its over! Did we win!?!? ? Somebody bought it for £1950.00. Wonder if the club was involved!
BowenBoys
I believe that the club were not involved.
topcat
Only 1 bidder straight in with asking price. Seems a strange auction.
cjptfc
Possibly the vendor himself under a different username? rather than lose face by cancelling the auction so late on
BowenBoys
The bid was 20 mins before the end of the auction. Why not wait until the last minute? Perhaps, as cjptfc said, it was the vendor, trying to force some action. It is possible that the Jags Trust contacted him with a low offer or maybe the Jags Trust bought it. Three things are certain. I didn't buy it, the club didn't buy it & if the JT did buy it, they hadn't told the club anything about their intentions. It is likely that somebody valued the medal at 2k and we will never see it again.
topcat
Maybe it was the "hoff"
jaggy
Possibly the vendor himself under a different username? rather than lose face by cancelling the auction so late on Would that not incur charges?
Jaggernaut
I'm curious about it being on the market in the first place. I'd be surprised if Roughie needed the money. And why that particular medal? Presumably he also got one for the old Division 2 championship in 70-71, and of course the League Cup. Lindau
"Oldgloryhunter" seems to do a fair bit of medal memorabilia http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/old.gloryhunter/m.html?item=221973105791&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562
ian_mac
Unlikely that the seller would have bid against himself as that would have incurred a final value fee which would have been considerable in this case. He could have easily ended the auction early without incurring any fees at all. I'm afraid it looks like someone has decided to pay the asking price and bought the thing.
