JeanieD
Nothing in my post above that re the league game, Jeanie? You are correct in most of what you say - although Ferguson's rant was aimed at Jim Aikman - President of the SFA (also chairman at firhill) and there was paper talk of a rivalry, in truth St Mirren were mid table dross and Ferguson was/is just a blow hard). A. Hansen did score but that is not the unusual aspect of the game.
AlgarveJag
Did they run out of pies after 22 minutes?
partickthedog
Did they run out of pies after 22 minutes? Game held up for lengthy period due to floodlight failure
JeanieD
Nah - but the pies went cold after 32 mins. The peculiar thing about the game is that Thistle's first 2 goals were scored direct from corner kicks - not sure if this is unique but I've never seen it. - over to someone else. AlgarveJag
Can anyone name the ex-Jags player that in 1979 came on as a second-half substitute to play against us for the first time since his transfer and got himself red carded before he'd even kicked a ball (he did manage a kick at Brian Whittaker and a pop at Ian Gibson)? Jaggernaut
...back of the net ACAB. http://soccer-footba...ching-the-ball/ Ha ha, that's a good story! Wrong though in repeatedly describing Badger as an "average" player. Also like the opening sentence: "Bobby Houston was a Scottish football born in 1952, who played professionally for Partick Thistle, Kilmarnock and Greenock Morton." kni
Yep that's it, the Tennent Caledonian Cup. We lost to Rangers on the Saturday and were well beaten by Man City on the Sunday. Over to you It was worth going to enjoy the stick given to Mick Channon by everyone. IIRC he had said that the best thing about Scotland was the road to England. Channon certainly got the message! jaggy
...back of the net ACAB. http://soccer-footba...ching-the-ball/ classic, especially the Jags players ignoring him. The incident happened right in front of where I was standing that day. One point though, Badger surely won a league winners medal with us in 76? jagfox
OK me again. Where is the furthest west Thistle have played in Scotland? Think they played a Lewis select in the late 80s?
JeanieD
Yup - although they did play at Ness the following night - not entirely sure if it is west of Stornoway.
jagfox
Cheers JeanieD, up until the end of last season who was our longest serving player without moving in or out of Firhill and for a bonus point, what was their previous club?
