Jaggernaut
I heard from a reasonably knowledgeable source that Falkirk are downsizing considerably. They plan to install an artificial pitch and make it available to the community and use it for training. They also want to terminate their training facilities contract with Stirling Uni, but there would be contractual complications from doing that. kni
Can we use this thread for other clubs' signings? E.g. Barry Robson to Aberdeen and Harkins to St Midden.

The training facilities at Stirling will still be used by the Forth Valley Academy. This is a Regional set up which includes a merger of the youth set ups in the area. (Falkirk, Stenny, Stirling Albion and is open for others to join in the future) The dropping of the youth set up and probably extra funding from the SFA will allow them to lay the new pitch. Apparently more of these regional set ups and mergers are planned for the future across the country. Apologies for off topic but don't know any new signings except Honduran international Peralta to Rangers
David Stevenson
Apologies for off topic but don't know any new signings except Honduran international Peralta to Rangers Just the type of player a club absolutely needs to win SFL2. lady-isobel-barnett
I'm not that certain that Accies have definitely knocked back the idea of re-installing an artificial pitch. Falkirk, Alloa & Q o S will kick off with a synthetic surface. Wouldn't be surprised to see as many non grass surfaces as grass in Div 1 in a season or so. Clubs like Airdrie, Stenny & Forfar may well be in the mix to go up end of next season.

kni
The BBC is reporting that Steve Lomas has been given permission to speak to Millwall. kni
Dundee Utd have accepted a £750k bid from Derby for Johnny Russell. Hopefully, they will give us the compensation that we are owed. Barnsley have offered a deal to Higdon. Edit to add that Russell has now agreed terms with Derby and will have his medical on Monday. Combining youth setups as described above does make sense. Economies of scale, more players through the door, one vision of technique and skill (hopefully) and the teams involved have a natural pecking order in size and success. Would like to see Thistle and Queens Park co-operating more in a mutally beneficial way.
kni
BBC reports that Greg Wylde is a target for the Dons and 'Well. "Wylde had two years remaining on his Bolton contract but negotiated an early release after failing to make a single first team appearance." Would like to see Thistle and Queens Park co-operating more in a mutally beneficial way. It's a new directive from Wotte and the SFA and the idea is for an Elite Academy. The SFA will push for more academies and the next is supposed to be in the Fife region. A rumour was that Thistle, Queens Park and St Mirren would be another for the future. Clubs who go it alone will have to have alot of self funding as the SFA will withdraw funding to clubs who don't regionalise. Falkirk have a great youth set up but they have given this up and only time will tell if it's been a good idea or not.

Lenziejag
I think Hartley is more experienced and has had 2 promotions in a row ? Murray has had 6 months and managed to keep Dumbarton up. Hartley, also was probably likely to get our job if Archie hadn't done so well as interim manager
