WeAreFreeAgents
Evening everyone, Here's our latest article, about the last time Partick Thistle played in European competition. Hopefully we'll see them abroad some day soon! http://wearefreeagents.net/2013/06/30/allez-les-jags-metz-v-partick-thistle-intertoto-cup-8-july-1995/ Cheers, WAFA
H Wragg
Good article and, yes, I was there. Not sure about "The club came under criticism for entering a tournament originally set up simply so that the football pools could continue all year round" though. The pools had been running all year round before and after the Inter-toto using Australian games.
Lenziejag
I wasn't able to go due to work commitments but I remember teletext gave the result as 1-0 to Thistle. I was gutted next morning when I found out we had lost
jaggy
I was there, went on a bus from the Woodside. Wonder where the quoted 1200 came from, i think at the time it was thought to be around 700 Jags. Legendary weekend for all sorts of reasons
Jaggernaut
Good article; brought back some great memories (though not the actual football!).
ian_mac
Did we take a big support to the game in Austria?
German Jag
Did we take a big support to the game in Austria? I would say 130 - 150 tops. This was before Easyjet, Ryanair et al. so you were looking at a hefty sum flying British Airways etc. I got the train from where I stayed in Germany at the time down to Nuremburg and then the Danube Express across to Linz. Have found some pics of both trips, so will try and upload tomorrow!

briogadh
Good article; brought back some great memories (though not the actual football!). Maybe it was the dodgy "purvey" the very view of which caused the problems - so much for the legendary "haute cuisine"!
Gordie
I was on the Woody bus. Great trip and experience. I'm pictured in the article holding the Saltire flag.

Have found some pics of both trips, so will try and upload tomorrow! I don't think there was even as many as that in Linz. I think it was nearer about 30 or 40, including a couple of stray Killie fans. I think most people saved their cash for Metz. Linz was fun though it wasn't much fun to be 2-0 down in next to no time
SussexJag
Metz was magic. I remember arriving in Dover by train and hearing then finding small groups of Thistle fans wandering around looking for the ferry - every single one of us already blitzed. It was also good drinking with the players after the match - Steve Welsh in particular to be a great guy - Dinnie and Pittman were sound too, a bit nuts though from memory (admittedly shaky). Not big or clever but a great 3 days if daftness.
jags on tour
has anyone got a copy of the big photo thats in the Alan Rough lounge of the fans in Metz? cheers
Colonel G
That was a great trip particularly the march through the town and Nicky Walker dropping a pint got a laugh.
