Classic SFA - Old Firm stitch up! :angry3:

Scottish FA president Campbell Ogilvie praised the wealth of choice available to the governing body in selecting a host venue.

"We are fortunate in Scotland to have three world-class football stadia," said Ogilvie.

"With Hampden Park due to undergo redevelopment work ahead of the 2014 Commonwealth Games, it is natural that we would seek to utilise both Celtic Park and Ibrox Stadium as venues for Scottish football's premier cup competition.

Wikipedia - "Ogilvie joined Heart of Midlothian in November 2005 to undertake similar duties under the title "Operations Director". Ogilvie was later promoted to managing director on 14 March 2008. Oglivie held 3505 shares in Rangers FC while a senior manager at Hearts.

"On 8 June 2011 it was confirmed that Ogilvie would take up the presidency of the Scottish Football Association, succeeding George Peat.

In March 2012 Ogilvie admitted to being a member of the Employee Benefit Trust scheme run at Rangers when he was a Director of Rangers as well as the treasurer of the Scottish Football Association."

This decision is disgraceful and Ogilvie will have a conflict of interest if he is a shareholder in the "new" Rangers.

Murrayfield should have the hosted the final as it is a great opportunity to have the final in the capital. The pitch should be in great condition in mid-May. Hearts have used the stadium so it's fine for football.

The semis should be held on neutral grounds depending on the location of four teams. It all stinks! Same old SFA. Nothing changes! :wall:

Despair not J. It's a good omen no matter what way you look at it. :happy2:

Indeed it is, however, the wearing of old boggin working clothes to the final is to be heavily encouraged. Jags taps, and other Thistle paraphernalia, should be thoroughly sprayed with heavy duty disinfectant both on the way in and the way oot. The acceptable face of Elf & Safety.

It's not as simple as the SFA meeting the SRU for a pint and asking to borrow Murrayfield for the day. always murky politics between different 'codes'.

What football has Murrayfield been used for apart from a Hearts vs Barca friendly and maybe a couple of Hearts European games? I wouldn't have thought the national team or a cup final has been held there before.

Even a club who is no longer in existence has won the Scottish Cup at Celtic Park more recently than us. (Rangers in 1993).

This same club that died, looks like running out of money in April.......... so lets have the SFA rent their ground and give them a leg up to help them through till the ST money comes in. So glad Ogilvie is neutral

They have the 2 best stadiums. Can't complain. I wouldn't want Murrayfield to be used.

How can they state "Now" that the semi's will both be Ibrox, when god help us Rangers may be in one, and the final at Parkhead when Celtic could be there, say the semi is between Caley & County, would Pittodrie not be better, it should be decided later on

I imagine if both cheeks of the so-called "Old" firm are in the semi finals then the blue buttock will have an advantage (rest assured they will not be drawn together at that stage) - if the green buttock gets to the final the advantage will be total - having said that it will devalue the Cup win in the eyes of fair minded folk (obviously not the vermin that follow old and new parts of the bigot axis).

Scarcely a surprise though.

This.

Can't complain that one of those would have ultimately held the final as 2 biggest grounds in the country. However absolutely no reason for this to be decided now.

If they were anxious to announce it now then Ibrox should've got the final as on the law of averages it's extremely unlikely the 2nd Div team will get anywhere near the final.

For me, the Scottish Cup Final being held at Murrayfield, the home of Scottish Rugby would be awful.

Agree. Having the final at Celtic Park makes sense. It is the largest football stadium in Scotland and is located in Glasgow, the home city of Scottish football.

However, as others have touched on already, it is strange that the SFA already feel able to announce it as the venue for this season's final, when it is quite possible that Celtic could be there. If they do, then the final should be held at neutral venue.

Having said that, there could be a problem if Rangers also reach the final, as there is no other football stadium in the country large enough to host such an occasion, which could mean that Murrayfield might be the only other viable option after all. :frantic:

F*cking Commonwealth Games.

Aye, the sepia tinged 1921 tribute look. Topped off with a mass production run of 25,000 Jaggy Bunnets on the cheap.

I doubt if Murrayfield would hold much more than Parkhead as it may not be set up for segregation the way a football ground is. I do tho' believe that if Celtic were to reach the final another option should be explored.

If Celtic reach the final, it should be at Ibrox

If Rangers reach the final, it should be at CP.

If both reach the final, they toss a coin to see who hosts it and tickets are split as close to 50/50 as possible, taking into account segregation.

If neither reach the final then CP is fine as the biggest available football stadium.
