  1. Past hour
  2. Unfortunately the women’s game was ****** when the OF got involved signing full time players from abroad. Full time teams will dominate and once the likes of Aberdeen & DU establish themselves Glasgow City will eventually fall to a lower level
  3. I was doing the correct comparison. I was comparing a team that had Docherty, Holt, Turner and Tiffoney that scraped 4th place to one without them, a reduced budget and made the playoffs with ease and 3rd place.
  4. Premier league having a vote on plastic pitches and if the vote goes thru they will be banned from the top flight 2026.
  5. Reminder @elevenone @Very Bitter Jag @Rid Skwerr @lady-isobel-barnett @joe the driver Deadline for Finals predictions 1pm Friday
  6. Apart from Zola Budd and Mary Decker I don't recall many runners getting lumps kicked out of them whilst performing which happens too frequently in football. However in the spirit of other sporting stars being fitter than footballers I do believe given the state of Dens Park that Dundee will be announcing Duncan Goodhew, David Wilkie and Greg Louganis as their next signings (the latter is at least good for a dive in the box).
  7. Yes I recognised this situation when I made the suggestion but didn't think I needed to go into this degree of detail. The problem is essentially one of scheduling so can easily be accommodated ' where there's a will ..................'! BTW agree with suggestion about signing Chalmers and Megwa if we could get them.
  8. Yes I agree - a radical idea. I like Graham and he has been both a great signing and in phenomenal form totally deserving of player of the year. Let me acknowledge your point and change my suggestion, until Adeloye proves his fitness, my main strikers being Graham and Diack. However I fall back onto original suggestion as I see Graham as a short term option. I doubt Graham can keep going at the pace and intensity we need to play if we are to make a serious challenge for the title. I think, unless Grahan defies the odds, at some point next season we are going to have to go with A & D if we play two up front. If Doolan sticks with one then it's all academic.
  9. Today
  10. You are spot on regarding them and SPL changing seating rule, bt iirc they did back us in the covid travesty.
  11. Well if he had - he wouldnt have got cramp as his Heart and Lungs would have delivered more Oxygen to his Calves
  12. Ok ignore Tennis The Scottish 5000m Record was broken by Nat Muir in 1982 it was the. broken by Andy Butchart at the 5000m Finals in Rio 2016 ( butchart finished 5th ) so to break the 1982 Record it took a World Class Performance by Butchart running against some of the fittest men on the Planet including Mo Farah However in 1982 - Nat Muir had Running Shoes - a stopwatch - big hills around Salsburgh and a decrepit track in Coatbridge to break a Record that stood for 30+ Years and was broken at an Olympic Final Laura Muir - Gemma Reekie - Hill Sessions = Cleveden - both World Class Athletes - there Coach was from Victoria Park Harriers Fitness is Free - its not complicated or expensive Football Players run between 8-10K a game - to do so - you be at top fitness levels and you will give yourself the best chance of succeeding You don't - your results will reflect your dedication to your sport
  13. I see the women's game now going the same way as the mens, Celtic league winners and Rangers runners up, at least the Scottish cup final isn't an old firm final. Congratulations to PTWFC for an excellent season.
  14. I can't answer that one as a) I am not a fitness expert and b) even if I was, I did/do not have first hand knowledge of the game conditions Fitzy experienced. I can though comfortably say though, it was not because he doesn't have "a pair of decent Running Shoes - a Stopwatch and Cleveden Hill".
  15. Very sad news. Condolences to Gerry's family and friends.
  16. RIP Gerry, thanks for all the memories.
  17. Inadvertently I'll take the blame. Was trying to make a point relevant to Scottish football, thus excluding Djokovic and every other sportsperson in the universe that doesn't kick a ball in this country. I should've anticipated a certain poster missing that intention.
  18. One half of one of the best and most charismatic management teams we have had at Thistle, also as others have mentioned it should not be forgotten what he did for Thistle as a player. Condolences to family and friends. RIP Gerry.
  19. And Jlo was coming off the back of Covid - so its not a true comparison ( not defending Jlo but its important to have correct comparisons)
  20. Who said it was only about stamina ? However we spend the fast majority of the Game Running - so its a Key Aspect all fitness is free - nor do you need anyone to improve your fitness to a high level just because all these people are employed -doesn't mean there required
  21. I think you are being a bit disingenuous when talking about the progress under fan ownership. The starting place was a much lower base than where JLo left, yet we finished a place higher in the league. Not only that, attendance income from league games will be about 25% higher than last.
  22. You know I wouldn't let you do that πŸ™‚
  23. McInroy for me is I'm afraid a no. f don't think as a Club we can afford to make too many signing which fall under the category of 'taking a chance on'! One such signing would for me would be Blair Alston - is there an Albert (the ghost) Craig in there. A Blair Alston playing the way he did in the play- off games and arriving late in the box to score is perhaps a role Doolan might consider. We would though need to get much more from Alston in open play and there-in lies the problem.
