  1. Was Duncan Smillie not only just appointed a month ago? Look forward to updates of this later.
  2. Not often you see a world cup winner holding a Jags top. Hope Solo today.
  3. I thought the same of Marc Lamont and Neil McLaughlin as potentials. I think Andy had a fair crack of the whip but for whatever reason it just didn’t happen. Good luck to him though.
  4. Would say so as he only signed contract extension a fortnight ago.
  5. Not sure the answer to that, but for anyone interested in going along to see our womans side then half season tickets now available. https://ptfc.co.uk/ptfc-news/partick-thistle-womens-football-club-half-season-tickets-available-to-purchase/
  6. Never truly convinced McGinty is a centre half, however a good few times last season ploughing forward with the ball at his feet he kinda reminded me of a Ted Mcminn type character in as much that he didn’t know where he was going next let alone his man he was taking on and it seemed to pretty effective. The next Jukka Santala?
  7. Great day. A lot of hazy memories thanks to few small tipples. Random memories:- Lovely weather. Little cafes using the silver knife to removed head from the beer (seemed very cultured after drinking in Station Bar pre bus) Bagpipes leading the Jags fans after the game from ground back into town and people waving at us from their windows. Getting a pic with some Metz players in town later that night, I’m sure Robert Pires was one of them (wish i could find it now). Guy I know who is the grumpiest Jags fan i know being in a mood after the game saying “I dunno why every c*** is happy we lost” Couple more years and trips to Europe are hopefully back on the cards.
  8. Good statement from Morton regards these Friday games. https://gmfc.net/2019/07/05/club-statement-live-tv-game-schedule/
  9. Away to Arbroath on a Friday night? Awful decision. Reckon all attendances for these 3 fixtures will now be much lower than the original dates.
  10. Nice gesture Peaty, hopefully it finds a new owner. What top/case are you going for with your new phone?
  11. Prices set. £12 or £6 for concessions. https://ptfc.co.uk/ptfc-news/betfred-cup-tickets-on-sale-now/ Only a fortnight on Sat til it all begins again.
  12. Can’t say I am bursting with excitement however anyone signing for the Jags starts on clean slate and I see it mentioned he will be involved in some coaching too so hopefully that will be beneficial to some of the young lads given his experience. All the best at Firhill at Kenny.
  13. Bookies have us generally as 4th favs which prob at the moment seems about right. The tightish odds probably reflecting the leagues competitiveness. Can’t say anything too tempting for me to part with my cash. Dundee 9/4 Dundee Utd 9/4 ICT 11/2 Thistle 13/2 Dunfermline 7/1 Ayr 20/1 Morton 20/1 QOS 20/1 Arbroath 66/1 Alloa 100/1
  14. Fossil Frank has his say... https://www.footballscotland.co.uk/spfl/scottish-championship/frank-mcavennie-claims-partick-thistles-16472912
  15. Now that we seemingly have billions secured lets buy Liam back for 10m thus giving us a bigger part of the sell on fee I’ll get my coat...
  16. Again from the Mail but slightly different article from Lindau’s link. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7165283/Particks-new-Moneyball-owners-seismic-implications-Glasgow-club.html
  17. Kris Boyd hanging up his boots to concentrate on media work according to todays press so that’s one off the list.
  18. I can see both sides of the argument. I have enjoyed watching the world cup as a one off football fix in the close season however would I want to watch woman’s football every week then the answer would be no. I do like the technical side of it and slower nature which in some respect reminds me of mens footie in the 1970’s. A lot of mens football now especially at our level is fast, devoid of skill and all about small percentages/mistakes. In the passage of time the woman’s game will probably become similar, a bit like woman’s tennis. Whilst the same sport I do feel they are separate games. I know our Chairwoman is a bit advocate of the woman’s game and usually her programme notes reflect this however truth be told I could tell you very little about the Jags woman’s squad and giving the choice of our womans team winning their league or our mens team winning their opening fixture it would be the latter. Anyway lets hope Scotland Ladies can stuff Argentina and make it through to the next round.
  19. Paddy Keogh once picked me up from my house in his taxi to take me to a hospitality day at Firhill. ( I did not recognise him until he said)
  20. Or to a relegation fighting Premiership team from a promotion chasing Championship team. tomayto, tomahto...
  21. Was an easy decision to leave us. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48516739
