  1. My son pointed Fraser out in the warm up. he felt the player was trying to hit fans behind the goal as he blasted the ball into the crowd on 2 occasions. I had left the game by the time Fraser came on, and I’ve read Archie say he is not a malicious type of player, but I think the club should look a little closer at the player’s behaviour. If an opposing player had tried that...
  2. We were bottom of the league at this time last year. I did not think we were the worst team in the league then.
  3. As It Stood. 30th November 2016 Team P W D L GD Pts Celtic. 12 11 1 0 27 34 Hearts. 15 7 5 3 12 26 Rangers. 15 7 5 3 3 26 Aberdeen 13 7 3 3 10 24 St Johnstone. 14 5 4 5 0 19 Motherwell. 14 4 3 7 -6 15 Dundee. 15 4 3 8 -6 15 Ross County. 15 3 6 6 -11 15 Hamilton. 14 2 8 4 -4 14 Inverness CT. 15 3 5 7 -8 14 Kilmarnock. 14 3 5 6 -12 14 Partick Thistle. 14 3 4 7 -5 13 I think we’ve been here before. Last season we had played better without getting the rewards. This season has been blighted by injuries. I’m hopeful we will move up the table once we have more players playing in their natural positions. Plus we have been picking up points apart from our visit to Govan.
  4. After the corresponding fixtures last season, we had 13 points from 13 games. Hearts were flying in 3rd, ICT were in the top 6. We would lose our next game to Motherwell away, which up until our recent game at Fir Park must have been our worst away display of recent times. I’m pretty sure we were bottom before the month was out. I never worried for the last season. My only slight concern this season is the quality of managers in the league looks really good. Neil McCann is still an unknown quantity, but Govan must be able to improve on the last few years, Kilmarnock and Ross County have managers with premiership experience, and although Hamilton and ourselves have one club managers, you can put them up against anyone else in this league. It is going to be very interesting, with maybe 4 clubs pulling away from the rest, 2 top 6 places up for grabs and 6 teams eventually fighting relegation.
  5. The happy clappers were getting it last season - then we made the top six. It was widely acknowledged when the fixtures were released that it would be hard to collect points in the first 2 months. This was before we lost players to injury. Yesterday's display is the one game I think we've regressed against similar fixtures last year. We ran Aberdeen and Celtic a lot closer, took a league point from another team we lost all four games to last year, took a point at Dingwall, and had our usual up and down with StJ, going one round further in the cup than last year then losing 1-0 in the league. And the game with Hearts when we were chasing a winner, we lost that corresponding fixture last year when both teams were chasing the winner. A little perspective on our season. We were bad yesterday, but apart from hibs, that can't be labelled too often this season. And the team sitting joint top of the league were beaten by the same score at Fir Park within the last fortnight. We were really poor yesterday but Motherwell will be strong contenders for top six this year. And we were equally poor when we lost 2-0 to them last year. At a ground we have yet to taste victory this millennium.
  6. Bannigan was missing from the subs bench yesterday. Your suggestion to switch Devine into midfield could accommodate Barton in the back 3, yet provide more stability in the middle of the park and greater creativity from the back. Barton was getting a hard time from fans yesterday for not doing things he was not signed for, win a midfield battle. The injuries to our wing backs is certainly impacting on how we play.
  7. Is it possible this was the thought behind the remarks, and again is it possible Archie was involved? Nothing like getting the team to play for the manager.
  8. They have also used their influence to have journalists, who dared criticise them, removed from their position of employment. This is very serious. Their position of power ensures they very rarely receive serious scrutiny and now they are manufacturing a grievance which will place more pressure on officials.
  9. Our first 7 games are against last season's top 5, plus Hibs and Ross County. Difficult start to the season.
  10. This made me laugh. From BBC gossip page A figure like businessman Craig Whyte, whose tenure at Rangers led Rangers into financial meltdown, will never be allowed to enter Scottish football again, Scottish Professional Football League chief executive Neil Doncaster has vowed.(Daily Record)
  11. We can never tell, but to reach top 6 relatively comfortably in the knowledge that 2 of our best players would be missing for most of the season, added to other injuries and a poor start, I think a marquee signing may be enough if we hold onto the team. The coaching staff have been able to improve the team and individual players each year. I expect this to continue, but I also expect offers for our players. And I think we may see Archie start the season, but he will be high on all lists as sackings begin next season. But the way the club is being run at the moment, this may not have as big an impact on the club as happened when Lambie left, or further back, Auld.
  12. I think Archie is at a stage where he only trusts about 13/14 players to be able to deliver, especially against the stronger teams.. This has been reduced due to injuries, but also as some players have not improved at the same rate as the team. Lawless was not able to challenge miler for the second goal I think due to tiredness, but Archie did not feel Amoo was able to replace Lawless. The only other replacement could have been Mustapha for Lawless. Hopefully the new season will see players returning from injury, all the players getting a full pre-season training, and some new additions to the squad along with a new certain starter to the team. A wee shake up may be required. But there is not a lot wrong with Thistle at this moment.
  13. I've just watched his interview on Jags Zone and was reminded that he was injured at the start of the season. I think the number of games Christy has played shows how important a squad is to the team. I would still not put him in my strongest 11, but we change our shape regularly and players will drop of the team out for various reasons. I think he is a brilliant player to have due to his versatility, and although not in my first 11, there are very few games throughout the course of a season when that 11 is available. A great improvement on last season's versatile man, Gary Miller.
  14. While we are at it, could we collect funds to make another banner for the North Stand. The one at the main stand side could be supplemented by one at the JHS side. This would make the stand appear less empty and may add to the atmosphere created by those in the NS.
  15. I've never thought for a moment we would get both Glasgow clubs at home If we make top 6. All things being equal, we should have both of them at home as well as Aberdeen. But by ensuring the OF are balanced by way of playing 4 games split evenly between home and away, it may throw the balance out for the rest of the fixtures. And we have just been shown where the priorities are within Scottish football. Once again little thought will be given in terms of sporting integrity.
  16. We have scored 30 league goals, Dundee have 31 and Motherwell and IVT have 32. St J have 37, although we have conceded less, 33, only bettered by Aberdeen and Celtic. We are not too far away from challenging the teams above us. I don't think we need to change anything too drastic. We have sorted our defence, we have scored goals from set pieces. I think once the midfield start chipping in with goals, we will see a further improvement. However, to contradict myself, I dont see too many opportunities missed from midfield players. Im still hopeful that Erskine will reach double figures for the season. But possibly the missing link between fighting for top 6 and established top 6 is another double figure scorer.
  17. Anya played RB v England and is included again as a midfielder.
  18. Partick Thistle: Cerny, Dumbuya, Booth, Lindsay, Osman, Doolan, Erskine, Lawless, Barton, Keown, Edwards. Today's team may wel be my best thistle 11. All of our best available players on at the same time. No pressure. 4-2-3-1 ??
  19. Jokes are ok. You should try it sometime. Sexist, racist xenophobic comments are not.
