  1. OK - I know the seeding system, but can somebody clarify (because the SPFL web site does not) how do they decide who is home and who is away?
  2. Despite winning our group, at this time it looks like we won't be seeded meaning the possibility of drawing Ce*%$& or Sevco or Ab$&*^&%. Who do we want? Maybe Kilmarnock?
  3. If he does sign I sincerely hope it doesn't finish up as "Jings, Scrivens, help ma boab!"
  4. John Harvey, Martin Ferguson and George Niven
  5. Please don't post this on "Who are the Jags players ……….."
  6. Totally agree. In the past the phrase that mattered was "interfering with play". If someone in an offside position attempts to reach the ball then he/she is offside. I think Bill Shankly might have been quoted as saying something along the lines of "If he's no' interfering with play then he'll no' play for this club".
  7. Thank goodness some of us still have a sense of humour.
  8. Wish you hadn't said that (after last season)!
  9. Believe me - Meadowbank is not a place you want to go to if you want to watch football. Unless they have been given permission to use the "multi ball" system. If not you'll be lucky if the ball is in play for 45 minutes (especially if the wind blows).
  10. Do you think Kris should contact Just Employment Law?
  11. Some points regarding the PTFC website announcement about this event. Firstly it is an evening with Mr.Caldwell - no mention of the Chairperson or the CEO being there. Secondly it offers "a chance for the supporters to CHAT with the manager". That doesn't sound like a press conference type of discussion where answers to questions are heard by all those present. Oh, and just for clarification for those who think that anyone with an opinion should be there, I will be unable to attend - 6500 miles there and 6500 miles back is too much!
  12. "Genuine football insight into his plans for the summer" - "how the team has developed since October" - "training & tactics" - "in depth match & video analysis"??? This sounds like an updated version of how he sold himself to the board prior to his appointment!
  13. Our current "manager" describes our number 9 as "a consummate professional" - "can't fault him" - "scored some vital goals this season". These are the sort of comments a manager might make of an important member of the team - but he discards him and tells him that he (the "manager") wants to take the club in a "new direction". Well this decision will immediately reduce season ticket income, which in previous seasons the club begged the supporters to buy . So what "new direction" are we going to see? Part-timers? That would let the "manager" spend more time with his family.
  14. Am I the only one who was dreading the thought of coming up against him in the (now happily avoided) play-offs?
  15. Taking nothing for granted - but last game being at Dumfries reminds me of "the huddle in the middle". Does anyone else remember that and if so can he tell me when that was and where we finished in the league?
  16. Sorry CC - Correction. Just spoke to the driver - it was a Triumph Dolomite!
  17. Re 12 disciples - I went with 3 friends(by car and 3 boats). Only 1 driver all the way there and back. Please increase to 16.
  18. A man after my own heart. I have often hated myself for looking for the result only to find the game's no done. What happens - a late goal (or goals) ruins my Saturday. Talking of which - some said we lost late goals because of a lack of fitness. Has that changed?
  19. Big Willie McVie ,Clyde centre half ,and generally a dirty big B, complaining to the referee about the treatment he was getting from our centre forward, Eddie Prudham.
  20. My recollection of that game was Brian Whittaker reaching the bye-line, cutting the ball back to Mojo who stuck it away. Good goal? No! The linesman flagged for offside against BW - not in the build up. But because he was still on the bye-line when the ball entered the net. I have actually tried to get info from Robert Reid about the match officials in that game because I think the diddy linesman actually became a first class (?) referee.

Not sure of my first game, but one of my earlier memories still haunts me. I was about 8 years old and I lived very close to Firhill and on this particular Saturday a pal and I went up the road with me carrying my newly purchased autograph book. In those days the players tended to start arriving about 90 mins before kick-off and often stood around outside. On this day I saw 2 guys standing in a closemouth in Springbank Street, one fair haired and the other darker with a thin face. Johnny McKenzie and Jimmy Davidson! Rushed over to get their signatures. Looked at my book and it turned out to be Jackie Oakes and Jimmy Binning of Queen of the South.

But would he be the sort of manager to "park the bus"?
