  1. BB, I'm with Jaggernaut on this one. A small logo over the left breast on the grey t-shirt would look stylish, imo. As oft quoted on Juke Box Jury, I'd give it five, and I'd buy it!!
  2. Took a lot of stick from other club's supporters during the Hard Times, Just had to grim and bear it....
  3. Todays match is streamed live for free. I 've just got my 50 -50 tickets for today, and if I was going to the game (i.e. pre-covid), I'd pay to get in. I know not everybody is in the position to contribute to the club, but those that can, it would be good to "pay" for today's complimentary match (those who watch it) by 50-50, GoFundMe, BBs wonderful teeshirts etc or some other of the myriad ways to fund the club. Enjoy the game! Will be good to see how the team play, hopefully against a packed defence. We better get used to that this year!
  4. Which I think nicely answers BB's question on the expendebility of the lower leagues. Clubs did receive around £35,000 from Anderson, initially for such costs, but subsequently widened. So for the occasions they need to test, they should be in a position to cover the costs. Bet there are a few whines, though......
  5. Item on the club website regarding friendlies and streaming. Sat 19 Sept Jags v BSC Glasgow at 3:00 pm. Live stream of the game free of charge. Sat 26 Sept Hearts v Jags 15:00. Audio link via JagsZone, replay after the game. Discussions ongoing for PPV. Wed 30 Sept 2:00 pm Jags v Ayr Utd (but being confirmed closer to the date). Hopefully live streaming for season ticket holders, live JagsZone commentary. Good to be back - if not in person!
  6. Good to hear, BB. Tell em summer is coming in Oz. They need to get some teeshirts!
  7. New 50 -50 draw, for this Saturday now up on the club website. There is info about card rejections there, as there have been recent problems. Bon chance to all!
  8. I read about the game in the Edinburgh Evening News today. They said the game was "next Saturday", so I've misunderstood the date! I know that streaming arrangements are being announced this month, but may come too late for these two games.
  9. I see that we are playing Hearts at Tynecastle in a friendly this Saturday at 3:00PM. Hearts are streaming the game to their fans Any word on us streaming these games?
  10. Like the dinosaur (Stegosaurus - thick plates for skin) I am, I've been using the Official History 1976 - 2002 , plus photocopies of the subsequent seasons results as my main source of info. All except last season. That doesn't merit the paper to print it out. Great site. Mrs EKJ won't see me for weeks! (No sarky comments on that, please.)
  11. The barrier to any reconstruction is the structure of the SPFL management Committee, and the voting quorum. The Committee has three member club chairpersons from the Premier, two from the Championship and one from leagues 1 & 2. Any resolution needs 11 Premier, 8 Championship and 15? from 1 & 2. As such any resolution needs the backing of management Committee member clubs to get through. I understand the fear of OF hegemony that drove this structure, but its a barrier to change. Having club chairs on the Committee is a conflict of interest, and reactionary. The League Management Committee must become independent, and exclude club chairs. But any new structure must be thought out properly, to allow the removal of dictators like MacLennan & Doncaster more easily.
  12. I agree. Thistle were one of the few clubs willing to play behind closed doors several months ago. The lower leagues seemed destined for at least one season mothballed. Our court action seemed to me to spur the SPFL into threatening relegation if clubs didn't take part in the league this season. I don't think that it will take much for lower league clubs to seek abandonment of the campaign, and as the SPFL are only interested in getting the Premier league to a successful conclusion, they will be more than willing to agree to this. All clubs have brought in new players, and I wonder if a "covid closure" clause has been introduced into the new contracts.
  13. On 7 September the club announced that those with season tickets would get live coverage of League games at Firhill that were covid restricted. They also said that streaming arrangements would be set out later this month, after staff training. Looking good!
  14. Airdrie or East Fife could be worth a punt to a betting man or woman, but I could never forgive myself if I backed another team over the Jags - and they won
  15. Jim Goodwin claimed that he thought that the SPFL should have shown some compassion to St Mirren's goalkeeper plight. Don't recall either St Mirren or the SPFL showing much compassion to the Jags several months ago!!
  16. Or it could be that targets they wanted signed elsewhere. They signed Ayo Obilaye on Wednesday, so despite the recent covid setback in the UK (no doubt to be discussed on another thread), it seems they are still putting a squad together!
  17. Back now as wearethistle.net
  18. My mistake, it's transfermarket.com Left back Kevin Holt at £300,000; Dobbie at £250,000 then Fitzpatrick Pybus &Shields all at £200,000. So you're right that Dobbie & Fitzpatrick are in there.
  19. Reading back on my posts, my writing style may come across wrong. I come in peace - I'll leave the sparring to the Covid debate!! Squad value divided by the squad number will give a more realistic value. But in our squad, the site has Sena as zero value! Now there's a bargain for somebody
  20. I did say squad values are not perfect. However I was trying to look at the preparedness of teams with the limited info available. No friendlies yet, with competitive football just over 4 weeks away. The complete unpreparedness of QOS is what struck my eye. They haven't even got a full team, and (perhaps deliberately) are leaving it rather late. Maybe they are looking for bargains, but also they may be skint. I wouldn't read any more into it than that.
  21. Looking at transfer market.co.uk the squad values are listed. (By no means a perfect comparison, but still useful.) Thistle 20 players £2.45 million squad value. Falkirk 18 players £1.58 million squad value. Queens Park 15 players £1.76 million squad value. QOS 10 players £1.37 million squad value. This for a team that recently received a significant sell on sum for Lyndon Dykes transfer, a team a league aboveThistle and Falkirk, and two above QP. This to me is a club in desperate straits. Signing amateur players ,to me, smacks of desperation. I think I'm right in that senior amateur players can sign professional at any stage, despite transfer windows. I do stand to be corrected on that. Our Betfred Cup game against QOS could be an indication (for both teams) of the season to come.
  22. "Be a battery hen and ride it out......" Pun intended?
  23. Willie Haughey has a net worth of £252 million. Let's hope he gets bored fairly quickly. When he's done, business as usual!"
  24. I doubt very much that they will finish bottom of our Betfred Cup group...... Our cup group games will be very testing.
  25. I think that the lack of income (as well as a need fora future structural way forward) partly caused Dunfermline to dilute their fan based ownership. Small fan owned clubs like Dunfermline and Clyde only have around 500 "owners. Pars United were put together to get the club solvent after Leishman. Clyde have 500 paying £40 per year (£20,000) + 200"50/50 paying £5 per week.(£26,000.) They will need income from games, and you're right - we may not need to go there if there any covid setbacks! Hearts have numbers, and Motherwell are getting TV income, but without capital backing, they may well (no pun intended) struggle too.
