The Jukebox Rebel
^ Wot, nae guesses? Worst quiz ever. MUSTAPHA DUMBUYA – PARTICK THISTLE’S 33rd INTERNATIONALIST http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wvBAW3ouuQ ▪ Even a change of continent can’t improve Mustapha’s luck with the refs this season. In the Chadian capital of N'Djamena yesterday afternoon, Mustapha lined up at right back as Sierra Leone kicked-off their qualifying campaign for Russia 2018. Unfortunately, they were sunk by a 47th minute goal from Leger Djimrangar, and the 2-legged tie is now on a knife edge for Tuesday’s return leg which will be played in neutral Nigeria as Sierra Leone has been out of bounds since August 2014 due to scares over the Ebola disaster which struck the country, claiming thousands of lives. The country recently entered into a 42-day countdown to be declared free of the virus by the World Health Organisation (WHO), and if no new Ebola cases are registered in this period the ban will be lifted in November. Clearly, “Salone” don’t have their troubles to seek right now – just a few weeks ago they were left reeling as star striker, American-based Kei Kamara, announced his retirement from international football; very much upsetting the plans of new Ghanain coach, Sellas Tetteh. To be eliminated by Chad – over 50 places below them in the world rankings – would be a major disappointment for all concerned. Let’s hope they can turn it around on Tuesday and avoid the nightmare of having their World Cup aspirations extinguished after only 4 days of action. Mustapha, who played the full 90 minutes, becomes the 33rd footballer to gain an officially recognised full international cap whilst registered as a Partick Thistle player, and his appearance raises the club’s tally to 145 bona-fide caps. Before, during and after their tenures at Firhill, Thistle's 33 internationalists have now amassed a grand total of 356 officially recognised International Caps between them. Thistle's international cap tallies Caps won as a Partick Thistle player - Player (total caps won) 51 - Alan Rough (53) 9 - Johnny MacKenzie (9) 8 - Jimmy McMullan (16) 8 - Jimmy Davidson (8) 6 - Kenny Campbell (8) 5 - Jonny Tuffey (8) 4 - Jimmy Gibson (8) 4 - Johnny Jackson (8) 4 - Alex Forsyth (10) 4 - Adrian Madaschi (5) 3 - Willie Paul (3) 3 - Harry Chatton (6) 3 - George Cummings (9) 3 - Hugh Brown (3) 3 - Stephen Craigan (54) 2 - Joe Harris (2) 2 - Alex McSpadyen (2) 2 - Jackie Husband (2) 2 - Andy Kerr (2) 2 - Tommy Ewing (2) 2 - John Hansen (2) 2 - Quinton Jacobs (28) 2 - Jákup Mikkelsen (73) 2 - Lyle Taylor (2) 1 - John McCorkindale (1) 1 - Sam Kennedy (1) 1 - Neilly Gibson (14) 1 - Willie Howden (1) 1 - Jimmy Kinloch (1) 1 - Jimmy McGowan (1) 1 - Davie Mathers (1) 1 - Nicky Walker (2) 1 - Mustapha Dumbuya (11) notes: Despite my natural urge to side with FIFA’s cap rulings, their intransigent and illogical decision-making (they even refuse to count Euro Qualifiers against Gibraltar) dictates (in my opinion) that the caps awarded by the national associations themselves should represent the greatest authority on the matter. My position concurs with Scotland’s foremost football historians in relation to the national team. For the record, FIFA’s list would remove two caps from my quoted figures – one each for Jimmy McGowan and Jackie Husband. Dick Dastardly
Not a great record for our latest international. W1-D3-L8 F8 A18. Lets hope they can pump Chad in the second leg (then again, that would make him unavailable for more Jags matches)
a f kincaid
Second World War is bang on the money folks. Although, being a stickler for accuracy, the wartime caps won by each of the two players are discounted. The official records show that one was capped pre-war and the other was capped post-war. One of them is presumably J R Smith who guested from Millwall in 1942-43.

The Jukebox Rebel
Well, it's turned out to be a no' bad wee quiz after all One of them is presumably J R Smith who guested from Millwall in 1942-43. He shoots, he scores! Very well done afk. See latest Zatafact entry for full details (Stats Watch 2015-16 is getting a bit off-topic!) .....and the other his brother, C R, who we were able to sign during the season as there was no windows back then. Sorry, that's left me double-glazed. Are you sure ? I was thinking it might be J R Ewing Whowuzzit? The identity will be revealed on the Zatafact channel tomorrow ensuring maximum viewing figures. or maybe J R Hartley He shoots... ooh, off the bar and bounces down on to the line and spins out for a corner. J R H represents the right initials!
The Jukebox Rebel
SIERRA LEONE - A COMPLETE SHAMBLES Mustapha put in another 90 minute shift down the right flank in Port Hartcourt yesterday afternoon; all to no avail. Winning his 12th cap will be of little consolation to him as they've exited the World Cup to lowly Chad, albeit on the away goals rule. Trailing 1-0 from the first leg, the task became 3 times as difficult when they lost a crucial away goal right on the stroke of half-time - it was that man Leger Djimrangar again. Goals from Al-Hadji Kamara (70 mins) and Abdul Sesay (79 mins) set them up for a potential dramatic finale and Chad's Constant Madtoingue was sent off as the game threatened to boil over towards the end, but, despite a great deal of late pressure, Sierra Leone couldn't find a decisive winner. Chad, who are currently ranked 175th, advance to the next stage for the very first time in their history and will now play seven-time African champions Egypt in the next round. This exit marks an all-time low point in Sierra Leonne's footballing history. They now haven't qualified for a major tournament since the 1996 African Nations Cup. Quite apart from the natural ebola disaster which has forced them into nomadic expeditions, there seem to be many problems behind the scenes. In between the two-legged affair, there have been rumblings of discontent from players past and present. The star striker, Kei Kamara, who pulled out a few weeks back, decided to rip in to the SLFA for everything from coaching, to selfishness of officials to organisation. He piped up with this just before the 2nd leg: “There’s never been any trip that was any easier on us. It’s never less than 24 hours when it could be a 6-hour trip. Everything is just chaotic, everything in general. As players, we just have to really sacrifice and mentally be strong enough to overcome these obstacles. But it has not been anywhere close to good enough.” Whilst he might be ill-advised with his timing it seems he has a point. This weekend, the SLFA went cheapo to get the players from N'Djamena to Port Harcourt (746 miles) and, as a result, the exhausting journey took 15 hours. Chad were better prepared and had more training sessions on the pitch at Port Harcourt. On top of that, Sierra Leone players are reporting that pre-agreed expenses fees have been cut from $1500 to $1000. My guess is that Mustapha can't wait to get back to Glasgow... The Jukebox Rebel
HOODOO BUSTERS ▪ Wonder strikes from Gaz and Stevie brought to an end St Johnstone's 8 month unbeaten home run. 17.10.2015 St Johnstone 1 Partick Thistle 2 (SPFL Premiership - game 11) Gary Miller registers his first goal for the club in the same week that Mustapha Dumbuya wins player of the month. Archie has a selection problem for next week's game. Steven Lawless registers on the Thistle scoring charts for the fourth consecutive season. Can he finish top League scorer for the second time? For the second consecutive top-flight game Thistle retired with a lead at both HT and FT. You have to rewind back to the 5-2 win at Tynecastle in March 1996 to find the last time that happened. Thistle continue to be taking a hammering in terms of refereeing decisions. Even by recent standards, John Beaton's 3-game stats thus far in 2015-16 are almost laughable. The Motherwell whistler has awarded 8 yellows, 1 red and a penalty against Thistle this season. In the other column he has dished out one solitary yellow to the opposition. Under my usual arbitrary system of 1 point for a yellow card, 4 points for a red and 5 points for a penalty award he's 94% against Thistle this season! I surmise that pure shame prevented him from pointing to the spot in the 85th minute. Thistle end a run of 16 competitive games without a win at McDiarmid Park. It's only Thistle's second League win away to the Saints since reconstruction in 1975. On away days, taking over on our Premiership hoodoo hitlist is Fir Park, where Jags are 10 competitive games without a win. Thistle record back to back wins against St Johnstone for the first time since 1993 and have now set up an opportunity to equal the club-record 3-in-a-row at Firhill on boxing day. After the first round of top-flight fixtures Thistle are 4 pts behind the same stage 2013 tally; 3 pts behind the 2014 tally. ongoing sequences: 17 competitive games without defeat when we score the opening goal, 23rd Sep 2014 to date. 18 competitive games without a win in the away strip, 29th Dec 2012 to date. 22 consecutive competitive appearances for Callum Booth, 14th Mar 2015 to date. (Longest run since: Stuart Bannigan - 23 games; 24th Jan 2015 to 22nd Aug 2015. Club record: Johnny Jackson - 313 games; 28th Aug 1926 to 25th Mar 1933.) 49 competitive games without a penalty award, 19th Sep 2014 to date. 67 competitive games without a goal from a penalty, 22nd Feb 2014 to date. Jaggernaut
Great stats, as usual. That Beaton statistic against us is more than laughable; it's downright dodgy. It's been great to see several hodoos getting squashed over the last few seasons. For me for longer than I care to remember it was East End Park, Dens, Tannadice, and McDairmid. Now all conquered. If only Porkheid would also fall.... Only 3 points worse off than at the same stage last season..... not as bad as it might look to many. Dick Dastardly
As a manager, has Archie now recorded wins at every current Premier League ground except Motherwell and Celtic. Would be good to sort both of them this season. Beaton only lasted 24 hours as my most hated referee. A certain South African took that honour with flying colours yesterday

Thought you might be interested in these Jagger; our record away hoodos per club which have been worse than the St Johnstone: 40 - Celtic (1890 to 1922) 36 - Rangers [1872] (1917 to 1937 & 1957-1981) 26 - Dunfermline Athletic (1935 to 1974) 24 - Airdrieonians (1984 to 2002) or 25 if you include an Airdrie United in 2004! 21 - Dundee United (1976 to 1994) 18 - Aberdeen (1977 to 1996) 18 - Hibernian (1894 to 1912) In typical Thistle fashion, after some 40 years without a win at East End Park we won the next five in a row! 28.12.1974 Dunfermline Athletic [a] W2-1 (SFL First Division - game 18) 21.02.1976 Dunfermline Athletic [a] W3-0 (SFL First Division - game 25) 07.08.1979 Dunfermline Athletic [a] W1-0 (Anglo-Scottish Cup Preliminary Round, 2nd leg) 13.11.1982 Dunfermline Athletic [a] W4-0 (SFL First Division - game 14) 05.03.1983 Dunfermline Athletic [a] W3-0 (SFL First Division - game 27) As a manager, has Archie now recorded wins at every current Premier League ground except Motherwell and Celtic. Would be good to sort both of them this season. Beaton only lasted 24 hours as my most hated referee. A certain South African took that honour with flying colours yesterday That Twickenham heartbreak was surely beyond anything that the fitba' boys have experienced. Biased Southern Hemisphere bassa IMO. Archie still has a bit of work to do if he wants a clean sweep of away wins against current Premiership rivals. On away days where Archie is winless as a manager, these are the club's current competitive game winless streaks: 10 - Motherwell (2002 to date) 9 - Celtic (1995 to date) 6 - Aberdeen (2003 to date) 2 - Dundee (2014 to date) Of course, if doing it strictly by grounds then Celtic Park would take over the top spot, 12 games from 1993 to date. Would this be his first Thistle game in charge? He's from Dumbarton, been around for quite a long time although his profile has only risen in the last few years. It'll be his first time as a referee, although he ran the line as a rookie category 3 24 year-old: 21.07.2007 Ayr United [h] L1-2 (Friendly) I note he was promoted to Category 1 in May 2011 and we seem to have avoided him as he've moved up the ranks behind our club's move up the ranks. Let's hope he's not just another clown in the circus...

The Jukebox Rebel
MATHIAS OFF THE MARK ▪ The big man opens his scoring account on his 8th appearance. 24.10.2015 Partick Thistle 1 Hamilton Academical 1 (SPFL Premiership - game 12) Ryan Scully makes his first competitive appearance since Red n Yellow day (5-1 v Dunfermline, 10th November 2012) when he came on as a substitute for the injured Scott Fox. Ryan's current unbeaten run now sits at 3 competitive first team games spanning 3 years and 2 months. Mathias Pogba scores his first goal for the club and ensures Guinea's place as the 19th nation known to be represented on the Thistle goalscoring charts. The continental breakdown now reads: Europe (11), Africa (5), Asia (1), North America (1) and Australia (1). We still await our first scorers from South America and Antarctica... Thistle's last 6 goals have been scored by 6 different players. David Amoo is joint-top scorer and joint-top assistant with 2 in each chart. Callum Booth is last-man standing in terms of maximum competetive game time for the season, 1,170 minutes not out. Thistle have now played 50 consecutive competitive matches without a penalty. Happy feckin' anniversary... Thistle are now 6 games unbeaten vs Hamilton. Avoiding defeat at home to Hearts next week would see Archie's Jags equal their Premiership-best run of 4 games unbeaten, achieved once in each of the previous two seasons. ongoing sequences: 18 competitive games without defeat when we score the opening goal, 23rd Sep 2014 to date. 18 competitive games without a win in the away strip, 29th Dec 2012 to date. 23 consecutive competitive appearances for Callum Booth, 14th Mar 2015 to date.
