Diack

Recommended Posts

Diack has my sympathy.

Last season he was certainly an impact sub coming on for Graham, scoring goals and generally showing good attacking form and creating problems for defences.

He might have expected a bigger role this season. However when he has come on he has looked slow and not really fit or we'll motivated.  It must be sole destroying for players to train hard week in and week out and  knowing they are not going to be playing at the weekend.

I suspect Diack will feel his career is now going backwards and he, like Dowds, will leave at the first oppoutunity.

Diack was excellent coming off the bench against Raith in the second game of the season. Even though we were playing a man down he was putting himself about with energy and skill and looked the person most likely to score. It was exactly what you would hope and expect from an impact sub.

The next week at Falkirk Graham was injured, so Diack had his opportunity to start. It looked like the ideal chance to build on the previous performance.

However, this time, having to play a large part of the game with 10 men, he was unable to settle into the lone striker role. He could not hold the ball up and became isolated (which may not have been all his fault). Ablade came on and was superb, posing a real threat himself and also linking up with team mates. I cannot recall Diack having a strong performance since then.

Not sure that I can offer any solution. Hopefully the player himself, Graham as captain and striker role model, and the management team can help to turn this round. Maybe it is all part of the natural inconsistency of a young player. I would certainly not want to mock him or write him off. Perhaps a loan spell would do him good.

When Ablade is back or if we make the much trailed signing of Adeloye, Rico would really benefit from a loan and consistent first team football. There is a Kevin Nisbet risk otherwise

Agree. I'd go further and say Diack desperately needs game time and a loan spell is thus essential. The difference with Ricco and Nisbet is that the latter had played (and scored freely) in countless U20s/Reserves or whatever prior to his loan spells. Even if there was less competition for a place upfront I'd still send him out on loan. In the interim we could easily replace him bringing in another loanee or journeyman type forward.
