lady-isobel-barnett
Is it more advisable for a manager to snap up a signing target or is he better to swoop for him? Once he's signed the guy is it preferable to unveil the player or to parade him?
erzamacaroonbars
I think if you swoop you would then have to unveil and if you snap up you then have to parade! What would the Thistle version be? desperately scrapped the barrel for? dug up? found in a shelter?
crazy davie
Is it more advisable for a manager to snap up a signing target or is he better to swoop for him? Once he's signed the guy is it preferable to unveil the player or to parade him? You would snap up a player who plied his trade in a higher league and swoop for a player who plied his trade in a lower league. It would just be a signing if he plied his trade in the same league. You would unveil the player if he was wearing a veil, otherwise you would just parade him. Edited May 27, 2010 by crazy davie
Norman
I can remember us swooping for Frank McAvennie and then parading him. There was something we forgot to do...
The Countess of Wemyss
plied his trade What a wonderfully quaint turn of phrase; my gardener used to ply his trade on a neighbouring estate.

jags on tour
I hope the manager is wheeling and dealing in the transfer market in order to unveil some players
partickthedog
I can remember the excitement a few seasons ago when we "captured" Big Jim Smith from Stranraer
McKennan
What we dont need is a pint sized hitman. I think we're in need of a tough-as-teak stopper (Bert) but we'll always need loyal servants to the club who know how to run the channels and pop up to put one in the old onion bag. chunky jag
What we really don't need is a experienced journeyman stopper.
lady-isobel-barnett
What we really don't need is a experienced journeyman stopper. I'd rather have a box to box midfielder that could also do a shift in the boiler room. One supplementary transfer & signing question...... It's obvious that any new signing who's moved from a club further down the pecking order will describe the move as massive but is there a set points difference between the clubs, or is even a move to a better league involved, before the move becomes massive massive? sandy
I'd rather have a box to box midfielder that could also do a shift in the boiler room. A decent shift in the boiler room would presumably require someone who could also screw the nut ?
