Seoras
Something has to be done about this eye sore. The Celtic mafia on the city council tossed out planning permission for flats incorporated in a stand. What's to stop the club submitting a new plan for a stand there? The alternative could be the landscaping idea with a Partick Thistle theme. The 'bing' could be sectioned off into plots for sponsoring to allay costs. Balmedie-Jag
Remember Dortmunds last home champs league game when they raised that netting with the big motif on it- perhaps something similair and more permanent with thistle logos and perhaps more sponsor logos etc? Would help enclose the ground?
pink panther
Pass a bucket round at the Dunfermline game and we will raise a few hundred pounds towards a hoarding. Then seek sponsors. Easy

gianlucatoni
Nothing wrong with the grass bing - why not tidy up the grass and use it like they do at the WACA cricket ground in Perth (Oz) - they've got as grassy bing at either end and you can happily sit/lie and get blootered
Eff Tee Ohh Eff
It could be used as a cemetery for Jags fans, the club would make money by selling the plot for your coffin, we get to follow Thistle forever and ever (copyright: Joe the Jag). In the short term, just cut the grass back and dye or paint it red and yellow stripes every month with advertising dyed/painted on in the same way that you see on the pitch of the Six Nations.

Just get the bing slope flattened out and some grass seed thrown down. Wouldnt look half as bad as it does now. Also the option to have big flags or sponsors flags pinned down on it and it might look ok!!
peagreenboy
Yeah. A big pyramid made of earth. We could perform sacrifices at half-time if we're a goal down.
David Stevenson
Timorous Beasties did a design for the club which to date has (as far as I can tell) only featured on a limited number of t-shirts which don't seem to be on general availability (though why, I do not know....): http://www.timorousbeasties.com/blog/news Some elements of it look a bit like the TAG logo, but my eyesight isn't that great re the details. Could the TB design be used on boards or netting behind the goal to perk it up? We all know know that something has to be done with it! banderas
just looked at highlights of the Morton game , 9 minutes and :46 seconds , the 3 areas that are prime for adversting based on the camera postion , assuming the current TV gantry will be the spot going forward , are bottom right of the bing next to floodlights/office/ field entry ( currently occupied by a large blue bin and half way up approx 3 minutes on camera) , the right side of the of the main stand between it and the north stand ( 1 min approx ) and the north stand inner wall lower right handside ( approx 1 min ) . All have disportionate time on camera compared to other locations that are not already populated by advertising . The left side of the bing could be tailored for community exercise ( low camera exsposure )partially funded from some of the adversting revenue gained from the other points. just a thought . yoda-jag
Here's a wild idea: Why not build a temporary stand? Portaloos either side, a la Livi. Morton have a second hand stand lying in storage that they have no use for now. Chuck it up, and the north stand singers can change ends at halftime to ensure team is always shooting towards a vocal Jags support.

McKennan
Sounds like a job for Onethistle. Prettying the bing is a nice idea, but the land has been industrial for a long time. The idea of an allotment would be quirky and Thistle, but I'm not sure I'd like my spuds with added metals. Flooers would also be nice, just make sure they're hardier than the scubland shrubs that already grow their. Perhaps the simplest solution is to paint the big with a sponsor's logo. The Cup
Just grass would be fine for me but the bing would need to be reasonably flat and cut often.
ian_mac
There's some good ideas in this thread, definitely. But we need to remember that the club don't own this land, which could be a barrier towards doing anything. The summer would definitely be a good time to get things moving on the bing. Jaggernaut
Even flattening the bing would be a start. The freed up space could be used for training, storage.... At present it's useless (and ugly) except for being a talking point.

Even though the propco own the land, the least they could do is make it presentable or allow it to be used in the short term until a long term solution is agreed upon. mrD
Maybe the club/propco could do a funding app to scottish arts council (or whatever its called now) to get money for a resident artist to do something with the bing. Plus having an artist in residency would definatey add to our 'cultured' image. http://www.creativescotland.com/funding/funding-programmes Edited April 24, 2013 by mrD
