phoenix1876
Why has he been dropped, does anyone know? Sorry if this has been brought up before.
Lindau
Simple really. Mair has been brought in and done very well and Conrad appears to be Archies preferred option for the other berth, which tbh on form, surprises me greatly
Norgethistle
I'd like to see Picollo with Mair at the back, think he offers us more than Conrad
Lenziejag
I guess that Piccolo favours the right side as does Mair. Balatoni is more comfortable on the left. I know, they are professional footballers and it shouldn't make a difference.
allyo
I though Conrad was pretty good yesterday. I don't think there's too much between him, Picollo and Muirhead, and if he gets his swagger back he's a good option.
lady-isobel-barnett
I fully understand why we don't need a centreback on the bench so I don't read anything into Gabriel not being in the squad. As to whether Gabby should be preferred to Conrad I guess it's down to the left sided thingy rather than immediate past form. So far it seems to be working. We've only lost one goal in the last couple of games and that came from the right hand side of the defence. I wonder if it was a closer call as to who'd be preferred in midfield between Muirhead & Gabriel?

I know, they are professional footballers and it shouldn't make a difference. Most central defenders, even those at the top level, favour one side. Our central defenders, including Balatoni, seem to favour the right side. Archie, having been a left-back, was naturally suited to the left side of central defence. So who are the left-footed/sided central defenders that are available and experienced at our level?
The Cup
Balatoni has been a lot better playing alongside Mair. We look a lot better at the back than when Gabby was there. Maybe he could do with some loan time in the lower leagues, or maybe he could play in Muirhead's DM role.

potty trained
I asked my brother in law about Mair, would seem he spent the majority of his time at St Mirren playing on the left of the middle 2. Even played left back a few times. Edited January 26, 2014 by potty trained
