  1. Past hour
  2. Playing the most games doesn't get you any awards apart from more appearance money. Ben got more votes than Denis. That's how votes work. Could be a grson of truth to the loan theory right enough. Maybe more does to his growing pains in the centre of defence before settl8ng into being a defensive midfielder. I feel Neilson will go onto bigger and better things in the future.
  3. Neilson was the reaL young player of the year, played most games. I guess he never got enough votes as he’s on loan
  4. Another well deserved award for Brian Graham. Also well done to Ben. I think he has done very well this season and will be an important player in the coming years.
  5. Today
  6. Almost 3,500 Red and Yellow Army have bought their ticket with more than 24 hours until kick-off. Let's get as many Jags fans at the game getting right behind the team: https://tickets.ptfc.co.uk/packages/LZEmOKzmpW/e/re1nr5kadv
  7. If you can't make the game on Friday night then you can purchase tickets online: https://tickets.ptfc.co.uk/packages/LZEmOKzmpW/e/r4VnWo7nLz Good Luck!
  8. Hoping that the picture of preparation on the Thistle Facebook page isn’t significant. McBeth, Graham, Milne and Stewart pictured.
  9. I think one of the problems we have had this season is that McMillan hasn’t been nearly as effective going forward this season even when Lawless was playing. Probably due to him not having had a pre season. Maybe the answer is playing Ngwenya but it would probably be at the expense of Stanway as when Mcinroy is playing well he is more creative I think.
  10. Though nowhere near as important, and ultimately in vain, special mention has to be given to Doolan's equalizer in the diidy cup final against QotS for pandemonium
  11. Geree's at Dens Park in the Cup was pretty good!
  12. I’d be tempted to try Milne & Ngwenya on the left for width / overlaps. Adds a bit of pace which we badly lacked on Tuesday. McInroy doesn’t really work out there, not fast enough.
  13. Surely you weren’t celebrating that ?
  14. I think it was Firhill goals being mentioned. For away goals I'd raise you Geordie Shaw's winner at Parkhead. Absolute bedlam with 4000 Jags falling all over the place.
  15. For pandemonium and drama, none can possibly beat Billy Gibson at Peterhead. What a moment.
  16. Denis against East Fife Denis against Clyde
  17. The Forbes goal from that game is the one that stands out for me. If I recall correctly, we'd just had to sub the keeper and at 3-1 there was a chance we'd wobble. Got an utterly perfect view of it arcing into the top corner from the Lambie. But Fitzy's late winner against DU is probably the Firhill goal that's produced the most pandemonium. I've still got a scar on my leg from the scenes!
  18. Agreed. Still my all time favourite goal!
  19. Almost every denis mcquade goal was the climax to an adventure of some sort or another. But Dan mclindon's stunner against Dundee United in 1966 remains fixed in the memory...
  20. The importance of the game surely comes into play when deciding on how good a goal is. So, Erskines at Falkirk would definitely be up there as it clinched the league and got the conga started. I think McBeths goal betters Storer’s anyway. And we scored a few crackers during the playoffs last season - Tiffoney’s at QP was pretty special.
  21. Yesterday
  22. Had a look at the highlights posted by diamonds tv. Despite a few Airdrie players having a go at their goalkeeper for our 2nd goal it looked to me like Megwa could have closed Robinson. On the other hand their 2nd goal started when Graham seemed to just let Megwa stroll past him to pass the ball into Telfer ? In midfield.
  23. It depends what you want in a best goal assessment. Agreed that SOD's goal was an excellent team move with a deft finish. If you want a one-off great shot then Jack Storer v Morton and Chris Erskine v Airdrie (the 1-0 victory early in 2013), or indeed Ross Forbes as already mentioned, would be candidates. For individual brilliance Chris Erskine again with the run ending with the lob v Falkirk has to be up there. No doubt there could be other suggestions.
  24. Thought we were lucky to get a draw. We had about 20 minutes in the middle of the game were we looked decent the rest of the time Airdrie had our number. We looked in trouble every time we allowed Frizzell to pick up the ball, turn and run at us. Neilson was decent when he got close to Frizzell and when we were in Airdrie's half but he didn't have a clue what to do when Frizzell came short. Going to 3 at the back was in my mind an effort to put more bodies in midfield and strangle the space. Instead McMillan and to a lesser extent Milne played so deep that we were playing 5 at the back and had very little going forward. On the plus side any team that doesn't take their chances usually lives to regret it and Airdrie might well be in that space. Also as others have said the Firhill surface should help us more than Airdrie. Also special mention to McBeth who looks a real find at centrehalf. That being said we need to have a look at how we provide a more balanced front 3. I wonder if it would be worth playing Robinson wide and moving McInroy into the middle alondisde Neilson? Also not sure Stanway is ready for these games and I think we should be considering Alston as the attacking midfield. We might get through against Airdrie but I'm struggling to see us getting through against Raith.
  25. I don’t think I have ever seen a better goal at Firhill than the one from SOD. If Messi had scored it, it would have been on permanent repeats. Actually, Messi wouldn’t have made the tackle that started the move.
  26. Yon 5-1 game was an absolute joy! One of the rare occasions when a big bunch of us from the family (siblings, in-laws, nephews, nieces) were all there, loving it. It will stay in the memory.
