  1. Would the wage we pay Erskine be more than the combined wage of Ally Roy and Joe Cardle? I would rather have Erskine same age as Cardle as well.
  2. If Thistle had managed to sort out releasing Bell, Lennox, Mutumbo, Ntambwe, Keown then I could understand letting Erskine move on but the priority should have been in freeing the money from those guys who don't care and have contributed nothing. Better be some player coming in.
  3. Two gone already in Storer and Melbourne. Shea Gordon, Scobbie and Jefferies complete their loans and with Mutombo and Ntambwe both missing from the saturday squad. Caldwell would only need to find one more. With Sneddon playing well in goals either Bell or Lennox should be free to move on. At a guess I would imagine that Keown and Storey are still available for transfer. Not sure if any of the top few in the championship or bottom three in the Premier would take a punt on Erskine or Spittal 8 going and 5 in would be my guess.
  4. If Thistle lose both games then he should resign that would leave the club with no financial burden.
  5. We really have wasted our parachute payment, panic signings as the season came closer have been disastrous. Melbourne, Jefferies, and Scobbie must have played less than three league games in total Lennox, Mutombo, Ntambwe and Coulibaly are either injured or half fit. Must be something other clubs look at when loaning out players. Pretty unlucky with O'Ware and Gordon who both looked good in patches of the early games. Two or three poor transfer windows in a row has accelerated our fall from grace and wasted a lot of money usually don't have.
  6. There seems to be three really important parts to a (football) managers job tactics, motivation and recruitment. Caldwell so far is struggling with the first one not sure about the second, but if he is good at recruitment then it makes up for the tactical stuff. If his recruitment is as poor as his first few games then we are in deep trouble.
  7. Having watched the first two goals I can see why he was left in the changing room, to not get infront of your man for the clearance on a reasonable cross was poor, but the second goal is terrible as a centre half he should win that ball against Bob McHugh. I can imagine that he didn't want to give away a penalty like Somerset Park first game of the season, but on second viewing he is pretty culpable, when I was at the game I was more annoyed about the cross being played in.
  8. Given that Scott Gemmill has two games with the under 21's in the next week and if they win both they will qualify from the group. It seems unlikely that this is the right week for an interview.
  9. More I think about it the more this signing worries me, we are in dire need of a striker, a defensive midfielder and cover at the back so we sign a 10 which is where Erskine, Spittal, Storer and Slater all want to play, mental stuff. Panic to get somebody in the door.
  10. Depressing signing, remember him being dross for ICT, but I was happy when we got Keown so what do I know.
  11. As with the last few seasons Tade has been in since the first day of pre season training, no guarantee he will sign last year he went to play in Israel?
  12. Training top from last season I think?
  13. Wouldn't have been to happy to see him sign on at Firhill, but it is all relative, depends who we sign?
  14. He also has a working knowledge of the club, a strong background in law, a range of contacts within the football world and if his memory is decent how difficult it is to get Thistle back into the top league at the first time of asking. Good Luck Gerry
  15. I echo the thoughts of other posters a sad day for all Thistle people, his family and friends. Great times following his Thistle teams, never a dull moment. The upcoming Thistle v Hamilton game would surely be a good choice so both clubs could pay there respects.
  16. As this is a Kris Doolan thread, a small mention for the outstanding piece of control and nutmeg in the middle of the second half. If anybody has footage of it, delicious
  17. Is he any relation to Ian Spittal the 1980's full back?
  18. On topic I noticed that Stefan Scougall and Marc McNulty were released by Sheffield United wouldn't be surprised to see them end up somewhere in the Scotland as well.
  19. Everything that is wrong with Scottish football in one program. No acceptance of blame from the same media hacks. Fans still treated badly, standards falling year on year. Luckily we support a club swimming against the tide. I look forward to Roger Mitchells admission that he crucified clubs like ours to ride on the likes of Murray's coat tails. Or Chic Young admitted his culpability in the promotion of the Gretna farce.
  20. Passed his twin Floretin on the way to the ground wearing a Pogbance hat, decent player for Saint Ettiene.
  21. Given that we have such poor coverage within the press, it's always good to have somewhere Thistle to go.
  22. Desperate stuff from Killie, new manger will have to get a team from Locke's player's, a cost a few quid.
  23. Best Thistle player on the park today never lost a header or a tackle all day. Put his body between the player and the goal constantly. Played like a man and didn't shirk his responsibility.
  24. I like the highlights, previews and interviews also given the rubbish coverage of Thistle in the media it's nice to have a dedicated biased view.
  25. Brilliant text to read, looking forward to a chance to send a message out to clubs like Motherwell who kept us down for years years.
