  1. 43 points will almost certainly get us in, 42 might. We did win 3 games in a row vs Killie, United, and County earlier in the season. I don't think we'll manage it, if you offered me 2 wins including one vs Killie from the next 4 I'd be happy with that as we'd be almost safe by the split.
  2. quick google of the 3 "saved" penalties reveals all 3 missed the target rather than saved.
  3. not a Thistle stat, but we did at least contribute to it yesterday. We used to have a go Scott Fox about this, but I believe Craig Gordon has yet to save a penalty is his professional career.
  4. I think it was actually McGregor of Dundee in the 2nd game that season where Cairney got a hat trick. Those old days, where we used to get penalties... As for the law itself, I think it does need changed, I think there's a difference between denying a goalscoring opportunity, and denying a goal. Example being handball on the line when the ball is going in like Suarez in the world cup a few years ago. Also think too much is made of "he was going away from goal" when there's an empty net from 10 yards to side foot the ball into.
  5. Not 100% but Rab Douglas at Dens in 2011 is my guess. Certainly no one since promotion.
  6. Being on the park for 40 seconds didn't do Doolan any harm vs St Johnstone, just a really poor miss. Pogba's header looked a bad miss too but up the other end of the pitch so don't know how far out it was. Shouldn't have lost that, hopefully we get some good fortune on Saturday.
  7. If we won both our remaining games vs Killie and took 4 vs United and lost every other one, that would be enough to stay safe most likely. I'd rather not do it that way though. Killie have 9 games left including Aberdeen and Celtic as their next two, can't see them getting more than 14 points so 42/43 is still my target.
  8. Erskine came on for the last 3 minutes today.
  9. So in terms of league goals, only George Smith is ahead of him and still with us (I believe he is, apologies if not)?
  10. Can we have a Doolan total goals update as well please?
  11. The QoS player in the top one is Derek Townsley, Jimmy Boyle for Thistle? The one and only (thankfully) Darren Brady vs Raith Dundee
  12. Some good tweets on the subject from Motherwell GM Alan Burrows this morning. Morton's pitch is so good as they don't have ush and can drain deeper without bursting the pipes , and Motherwell and Dundee United can't put astro in as their pitches slope too much.
  13. He has previous http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/aberdeen-boss-mark-mcghee-blames-1068658
  14. If anyone was at fault for the goal it was McManus with his 50p head clearance away, even then it was a deflection, it's not exactly Jordan McGhee for Hearts vs Aberdeen level of culpability. I'd be disappointed in Archie if he flung someone under the bus like McGhee has done with Ainsworth by blaming him individually then sending him out to meet the press, seems very old school, sort of thing Lambie would have done 20 years ago. As Archie says himself, the game has changed so I'd like to think had something similar happened up the other end on Tuesday then we'd have dealt with it in the media differently.
  15. Even if they somehow released Erskine now, I don't think we can sign him except maybe on amateur terms unless it was a full Dunfermline style administration where we were able to pick up McMillan and Dowie. I can't see how they can play him for the rest of the season although Shinnie did well enough with ICT last year.
  16. When Dumbuya signed he said he could play both wings so I guess he'd be first choice LB and Miller would slot in at RB if Booth gets injured / suspended.
  17. Probably better remembered for his performances in shoot outs, particularly when we beat Brechin, ICT, and Peterhead all in the same season.
  18. If you assume Celtic, Hearts, and Aberdeen plus Sevco & Hibs in the league below are in a different ballpark financially, I'm not really seeing any other deals this window that make me think "we missed out on one there". Gomis to Motherwell is good but he'd be too similar to Osman. If you want to put a positive spin on it, German scored 6 goals in 9 games for his last club and Nesbitt has been tearing the development league up for arse paper but isn't going to get a game ahead of the likes of Commons and Armstrong just yet.
  19. His opposite number yesterday hasn't saved a penalty in his professional career. 35 attempts, which I found even more surprising for a guy who's played in the EPL and has plenty of international caps. 3 missed target, but no saves.
  20. Not sure if you keep stats for this, but what's the numbers like for postponements over the years at Firhill?
  21. Also the cheating Argie handball goal in the cup a few years ago.
  22. Without being there it looks like a good point, I'd say our defence has been pretty decent with the exception of Hearts x2 and last week, so 20 games out of 23. We've still got the 4th best defensive record in the league. With United scoring 5 today we're back to bottom of the goals for chart though, it would be good if we could get Erskine in now plus one more attacking option. If we do, it'll be interesting to see if Welsh drops out and we go more attacking or stick with 3 central mids none of whom are a great goal threat but offer more defensively.
