Who Are The Jags Players In This Photo?

That's a toughie. Have a guess at John Harvey or maybe Harold Davis and maybe Gray as the goalie?

I think you might well be right, Lindau.

The pic is on the cover of the programme is for a 1st division league match at Somerset Park, 31st Dec, 1966 (2-1 to Thistle). I'm guessing the photo is from their most recent encounter at Somerset, which was in the Scottish Cup, 6th Feb 1965 (1-1). The 'keeper was indeed Jim Gray, and it looks like Harold Davis. No idea about the far-off player.... Muir or Fleming, maybe?

Oh, replay at Firhill 4 days later: 7-1 to the Jags!

McQuade only played once at home to QP so looks like it can only be Queen's Park at Firhill on April 19 1970. 2-1.

Dennis McQuade and John Hansen in the background.

Rough, Hansen Gray, Smith, McKinnon, Strachan, McQUADE, Coulston, Bone, Rae, LAWRIE. (Forsyth.)

Interesting that QP were the only club "permitted" to have their shirts not tucked in their shorts (their tradition). Indeed, didn't refs make players tuck them in? Nowadays the shirts are so tight and short they've given up.

Spot on as ever, afk. Here's the programme with the photo; it states that the 1970 match against QP also clinched us promotion back to the top division.

Interesting snippet about QP being permitted to do a George Best with their shirts outside of their shorts.

One point of disagreement: I would bet a lot on the player in the background being Charlie Smith instead of Hansen.

PS: I guess the spiders weren't aiming to attract any floating arachnophobic supporters back then.
