That's a great stat on the fewest no of goals conceded in 1st 100 games. Considering some of the stick Archibald and Patterson took about defenders not being able to coach the team to defend. Here's hoping they can continue to break records in charge of Thistle

1st 50 since coming back up - 81 conceded (1.62 per game)

2nd 50 - 56 conceded (1.12 per game)

That's a major improvement which underlines your point.

When was the last time two Thistle players came off the bench to score?

It may not be the last time it happened, but didn't Ian Cameron and Roddy Grant both come off the bench to score v Albion Rovers in THAT game?

Cammy started that night Barney, so that wasn't an occurrence. Funnily enough, I think the very first occurrence was just a few weeks earlier in an 8-3 friendly victory over the wonderfully named Ballyclare Comrades, with Alex Taylor and Isaac English each netting as subs. That said, I've got my eye on that 10-1 victory down at Tarff Rovers in August 1990 for which I don't have line ups / subs info, so an air of doubt remains as to the first time.

Last happened when we last scored a penalty, yep, THAT long!

27.07.2014 Glentoran [a] W3-1 (Friendly)

Kris Doolan (1-0, 34 mins); Gary Fraser (2-1, 81 mins); Kallum Higginbotham (3-1, pen 86 mins)

Last occurrence in competitive action:

27.08.2013 Cowdenbeath [h] W3-1 (League Cup 2nd Round)

Christie Elliott (1-0, 92 mins); Steven Lawless (2-1, 103 mins); Aaron Muirhead (3-1, pen 114 mins)

^ Subs in bold.

Dools fastest goal from a sub ever?

Timed at 43 seconds, wow! Who knows if it's fastest? These things are always a tricky business. First candidate I can see is Stephane Bonnes who came on in the 83rd minute and scored in the 84th in a match 12 years ago:

07.02.2004 Hamilton Academical [h] W5-1 (Scottish Cup 4th Round)

Jamie Mitchell (1-0, 40 mins); Gerry Britton (2-0, 54 mins); Gerry Britton (3-0, 62 mins); John Paul McBride (4-0, 81 mins); Stephane Bonnes (5-0, 84 mins)

Anyone got the footage and a stopwatch? :P

Oh, and as a footnote to Sivad's question...

Jaggy factoid # 7965

On 23rd February 2016, Kris Doolan and David Amoo became the first goal scoring substitutes duo for Partick Thistle in the top-flight, when both players netted in a 2-0 victory at home to St Johnstone. Even more remarkable was the timing of the first, scored in the 71st minute, just 43 seconds after Doolan had entered the field. Amoo was no slouch either, scoring in the 87th minute, just 7 minutes after coming on!

Very interesting stats there.

When Sebo, Freddie and Thomas came over to the fans at the end of the St J. match I was thinking about my own personal favourite defensive trio of Rough. Campbell and Anderson under Bertie. Didn't think I'd ever see anything as good as them again but these current guys could be up there.

That's very esteemed company your are considering putting the current players alongside. It would be terrific if they do make it to that kind of status.

Can we have a Doolan total goals update as well please?

Your believability guide for these charts

In their defence I can say that each and every goal is justified and accounted for with a decent source. Going against them is the fact that several hundred goals remain unaccredited and could yet affect totals. Also, there have been many dilemmas served up over the years due to contradictory reports. All I can say is, each and every goal is considered as carefully as possible with a common sense approach based on balance of probability, with 50-50s siding with the Official History Book. I have looked at thousands of match reports in their compilation but, even now, I know that much more can, and will, be done. The charts are compiled to the very best of my current knowledge and I retain at all times an open-minded policy of applying improved information. Since I last posted these on 5 January 2015 there have been several single goal adjustments (as detailed in the first posted chart).

League Goals Total – Player

note: in the interests of fairness to players of every era, I include all of the primary League campaigns, 1891-92 to date, extraordinarily including the two pre-SFL Alliance seasons and the seven Regional League seasons from WWII time which are usually ignored by statiscal databases. In line with the general historian consensus, I deem the 5 SFL games from the abandoned competition of 1939/40 to be voided and do not include them.

170 – Willie Sharp

91 – John Torbet

84 – John Wallace

82 – Willie Paul

82 – Neil Harris

82 – Peter McKennan

82 – Willie Newall

^ That’s great to hear! George was “the scourge of the Celts” and scored 17 League and Cup goals for Thistle against them, more than any other Jag in history. I wonder if he kens? If no’ tell him the next time you see him!

But aye, Dools is on his tail for the League accolade, now just 3 behind with his tally. Cheers Ancipital, we can keep our eye on that one. :thumbsup2:

We all know that Archie and Shaggy have the undisputed points-per-game greatest tally ever seen in the Second Tier, and set a club-record points total (78) in 2012-13, but how are they doing after 100 games in the no-mercy Top Flight arena?

The following table could perhaps be viewed as skewed since the “old guard” are favoured by virtue of having played in bigger, and therefore easier, Leagues. Despite this, it’s astonishing to note that Archie and Shaggy’s Jags emerge with the best record on three counts, as well as having set 3 further top-flight table records in their 2 completed campaigns…

TJR. I hope that you have a stat for the highest number of goals scored in a season by players with a double O in their surname.

Is there any other letter combination that facilitates vowel multiplication in proportion to successful performance?

eg DOOOOOOOOOOLAN, AMOOOOOOOOOO etc.

Only one that springs to mind is GERREEEEEEEEEE Britton.

Not sure if I can expect you to have a stat for this one, as it involves players for the team opposing Thistle.

I can remember our away game v Motherwell in the autumn of 2003. 2-2 draw which, correct me if I am wrong, was Gerry Collins' second and last point as Thistle manager.

James McFadden scored for Motherwell (and promptly signed for Everton the next day) while Stephen Pearson was sent off for assaulting Grant Murray. The likelihood is that both these players might face Thistle again in the equivalent fixture 13 years later. Is there any comparable example of appearances v Thistle by more than one player in the same fixture covering such a long period?

Indeed the stat might be even more remarkable as no doubt both McFadden and Pearson played against Thistle in earlier games thus extending the period covered. Also it might be that either or both of Keith Lasley or Stevie Hammill were playing against us too away back then. No current Thistle player gets anywhere near matching such longevity. Bring back Jean Yves Anis, I say!
