joe the driver
I noticed during "The Euros" that there has been a few changes to the laws of the beautiful game. The first, obvious one was that, at Kick-Off, the ball can be kicked in any direction. Did anyone notice this one. Leaving the field after treatment “If a player is injured from a challenge which is punished by a red or yellow card, he can have quick treatment on the field of play and does not have to leave. It always seemed unfair that the victim team was down to 10 men and the guilty team has 11 against 10" Common sense at last.

A penalty, a red card and a subsequent suspension was way OTT.
Lenziejag
I am not sure of the benefit of the kickoff one. More often than not it will result in the ball going out for a throw-in after one touch instead of

And (almost always) having to make a substitution.

Players will continue to feign injury solely in order to get the opponent red or yellow carded. I think this could encourage even more cheating of that kind. jaggy
Doing away with the triple jeopardy for the goalie is also sound. A penalty, a red card and a subsequent suspension was way OTT. I thought it applied to outfield players as well, apart from serious foul play or violent conduct? Yeh, I think you're right. Something also about deliberate handball in the box still being a red???
Exiled AusJag
The IFAB has released a 48 page book outlining the details of the changes. The change to the DOGSO law applies to all players, not just goalkeepers Where a player denies the opposing team a goal or an obvious goal-scoring opportunity by a deliberate handball offence the player is sent off wherever the offence occurs. Where a player commits an offence against an opponent within their own penalty area which denies an opponent an obvious goal-scoring opportunity and the referee awards a penalty kick, the offending player is cautioned unless: •• The offence is holding, pulling or pushing or •• The offending player does not attempt to play the ball or there is no possibility for the player making the challenge to play the ball or •• The offence is one which is punishable by a red card wherever it occurs on the field of play (e.g. serious foul play, violent conduct etc.) In all the above circumstances the player is sent off. Dick Dastardly
red card and penalty for holding, pushing or pulling. Corners are going to be interesting and games could end up as 7 aside. Actually, I wouldn't mind clamping down on that. It is getting quite ridiculous the shenanigans currently as corners.
Exiled AusJag
only a red card if it denies an obvious goal scoring opportunity
Blackpool Jags
Just wondering if they've rescinded the John Terry law yet - the one where JT alone may harangue the life out of refs following a decision with which he's not 100% satisfied; oh, and where he may be ably assisted by up to a further six Chelsea players. Maybe with Mr Terry enjoying a further 12 month extension to his contract, the authorities will defer scrapping that law for another year. Makes sense.
