Jagman1876
States on the BBC Gossip page that Ceptic are moving closer to a £75,000 January deal for Sinclair. £75K - Thoughts ?? mhs
For about 6 months on his contract and any training compensation we are due (if any) - seems fair enough. Montrose will likely have a sell on clause, so that will lower our final figure.
Heelan'jag
If we can get 75k for ATS then that is fantastic business. We know that he is likely to go at some point, but to receive a hefty payment such as this is great for Archie. This money alone could help us buy a couple of half decent players that we most definitely need. Shame to see ATS go, but ach well.... The Cup
Sell him. He's probably the best left back in the league but we are short a few players in other positions. Especially if he is going to walk away for free. McMillan will come good after getting his fitness back and can play there.
Paulo
I still don't see why they'd want to pay to take him in January, but if so, I'd say we should be taking the money. Getting any sort of cash for him would be a bonus, and might help bring in a player during the window.
peagreenboy
When was the last time one of the Old Firm came in to steal one of our players?
stuthejag
Brian Whittaker I think another full back or Davie Mackinnon the season before.

Maybe Lennon wants him but knows he would need to compete with Championship clubs if he waits until summer. If he can get him in January he can offer him a lot less in wages. So even with the 75k, over a period of 2 or 3 years it will still be less.
Dez90
Express reporting a deal has been done. If this article is true thought we would have got more than £75,000! http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/447038/Celtic-do-deal-for-Partick-Thistle-defender-Aaron-Taylor-Sinclair

mhs
I believe Montrose get 5% As little as that?! If that is the case then it is good news. I assumed it would be about 10-20%. Edited to add... The Express claims "Montrose will also net a five-figure sum from the deal.", which would mean about 15% or more but how would they even know that detail. jaggy
When was the last time one of the Old Firm came in to steal one of our players? I think Celtic tried to 'steal' Mo Johnston for about £100K a few months before he went to Watford for double that amount
jags on tour
I think it was ATS' agent on twitter this morning saying he has spoke to both clubs and the player and despite reports there is no deal done yet.
jaggy
I believe Montrose get 5% It must be more than that as Archie says in Express & Record that they will get a 5 figure sum
Garscube Road End
It must be more than that as Archie says in Express & Record that they will get a 5 figure sum Yeah! It looks likely to be more than 5%. Im sure Archie has a replacement lined up. Any of the youngsters ready?
marco77
Decent sum of money for someone who can leave for free in the Summer. ATS has developed into a good player but does need to work on quite a few things to make the step up i.e Crossing, right foot and positioning. uberteeb
Shame for him to go to Celtic and become a bench warmer then a nobody trapped on a contract for a few years and then back to the lower leagues. He could of course buck the trend but the OF kill young Scots with potential the vast majority of the time. Also, you often hear about these kind of deals being done but the player being allowed to stay with the selling club until the end of the season. Don't see any mention of that though. It's not the end of the world, punt Banzo back to left back and let him regain some of the form he has lost, we've got plenty of cover in the midfield. peagreenboy
From the tone of that article it sounds like he's doing us a favour. He could wait until the end of the season to get himself a better deal in terms of wages, but then Thistle would get nothing. No deal has been done or announced yet so we'll have to wait and see. Third Lanark
Yeah! It looks likely to be more than 5%. Im sure Archie has a replacement lined up. Any of the youngsters ready? Im sure it was reported at the time that Montrose would receive 9% of any future transfer fee
proudjag
If this Is true then great piece of business. Great servant but we can't turn this kind of money down. And considering we hadn't budgeted for it the entire sum should go to Archie for the signings we need in January.

I wouldn't call getting £75K for ATS great business, unless we get a whopping sell-on clause of our own inserted into the print of the deal. A fair and reasonable transaction though, all things considered.
Jagsman
main question now is who is going to fill his boots and if deal is concluded should he play
Third Lanark
Im sure it was reported at the time that Montrose would receive 9% of any future transfer fee Dear oh dear Third Lanark wrong again - we paid £9k to Montrose at the time and they get 15% of sell on fee
angry gaz
main question now is who is going to fill his boots and if deal is concluded should he play I'd say dont play him . Nothing against him, and I wish him all the best, but we need to find a settled defensive pattern asap for the rest of the season. Banzo to full back, he's a much better tackler anyway. In a strange way I think the team may have a stronger look about it when he goes. jlsarmy
Dont think his agent is doing him any favours with regards to his development ( just going for the money) cant see him displacing Izaguirre, agree with last post Banzo is a more complete player
