  2. Not unlike another centreback's goal? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHGfSNl5q34
  3. I think I go along with the opinion that the play-offs are not the time to be changing the defence - Luke McBeth dropping back and David Mitchell coming in to goal has been a significant turning point. However, I would like to see McBeth back in midfield alongside Stanway from our current squad - I have yet to see Neilson look anything other than completely out of place in midfield. Maybe we'll get to see McBeth and Stanway or another player together anchoring the midfield next season.
  4. Not sure I would be making any major changes either. We’ve only lost 1 in the last 9.
  5. I'm not an advocate of all artificial surfaces are bad and you can't get a good game on one. However, while the Airdrie surface was fine I think they know how it plays overall and it will be good to get back to Firhill's grassy plains haha Hopefully this can spark the likes of Fitzpatrick into a big performance. I don't think there will be many, if any changes from Tuesday night so our best XI for me. Will Airdrie have any other strategies up their sleeve? I hope not and we can send McCabe and the Vile Diamond packing. Though they have had a great season I want it to end tonight.
  6. I suppose the one question is whether O'Reilly can play as a defensive mid in place of Neilson. I honestly have no idea.
  7. I wouldn’t change the back 4 which has been superb since they were put together. Agree that Nelson is a weak link, but not sure there is a better option for the holding midfielder role. I’d go with the same starting 11.
  8. Today
  9. McBeth as a CB has had a remarkably transformative effect in turning our defence (in terms of goals conceded per goal) from one of the worse to one of the best (if not the best considering only games with McBeth ar CB). Meanwhile, for whatever reason, the games where McBeth was played as defensive centre mid coinciced with a terrible run where we conceding something like 3+ a game over a period. I know much of the latter may have been due to 1) Neilson not being a particularly good CB/effective alongside Muirhead (O'reilly not being available) and 2) McBeth having to adapt to a huge jump in standard. However, it seems to big a risk to move him out of defence and in to midfield for me.
  10. I would play stanway rather than neilson far more aggresive type of player breaking up play etc
  11. "Well done!" to BBG for this too: https://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/24310446.brian-graham-slams-joey-barton-calls-action-online-abuse/ Sorry, not the full article, as I long ago gave up subscribing to the travesty that remains of what was once a high-quality newspaper.
  12. Thats a very decent idea Might allow for a starting 11 of the following Mitchell McMillan-Muirhead-O'Reilly-Milne McBeth-Neilson Robinson-Mcinroy-Fitzpatrick Graham However I suspect we won't change that much tonight
  13. I would find a place in the team for o'reilly we need more ooomph in the midfield maybe push mcbeth central mid and rest neilson back 4 of mcmillan muirhed o'reilly milne
  14. What a lovely day! Going to be a LONG day at work. Absolutely buzzing, hopefully the players are too! Should be a big crowd, on the telly too - kind of night that you’d hope they play for. Mon the Jags!
  15. I haven’t been impressed by Neilson. He’s slow and positionally not great for either CB or midfield.
  16. Hang it in The Louvre or The Maryhill Burgh halls at least 😂 By club photographer Donald Wilson

  18. Yesterday
  19. Neilson has been one of our better loan signings in recent memory. However, I think that there were good reasons for voting for Stanway. Lewis had already played a good number of games for Hearts in the Premier League, whereas for Ben this has been a true breakthrough season, raising his game to a level never reached before.
  20. Bigger and better things than Thistle, is that possible?
  21. Lewis Neilson looked like a good footballer who couldn't defend and then moved into midfield and looked like a good footballer who lacked mobility
  22. Playing the most games doesn't get you any awards apart from more appearance money. Ben got more votes than Denis. That's how votes work. Could be a grson of truth to the loan theory right enough. Maybe more does to his growing pains in the centre of defence before settl8ng into being a defensive midfielder. I feel Neilson will go onto bigger and better things in the future.
  23. Neilson was the reaL young player of the year, played most games. I guess he never got enough votes as he’s on loan
  24. Another well deserved award for Brian Graham. Also well done to Ben. I think he has done very well this season and will be an important player in the coming years.
  25. Almost 3,500 Red and Yellow Army have bought their ticket with more than 24 hours until kick-off. Let's get as many Jags fans at the game getting right behind the team: https://tickets.ptfc.co.uk/packages/LZEmOKzmpW/e/re1nr5kadv
  26. If you can't make the game on Friday night then you can purchase tickets online: https://tickets.ptfc.co.uk/packages/LZEmOKzmpW/e/r4VnWo7nLz Good Luck!
