JeanieD
It was a 1-0 defeat as i recall - Harvey wouldn't kick the ball out and one of his "long" throw outs led to the Clyde goal.

Tob Jag
A real Jags man and then a real groundsman (before machinery was purchased) Jimmy Davidson would don his trench coat and black wellies and push his lawnmower or wheelbarrow around Firhill. Â Alongside him another great Jags man Jackie Husband = A gentleman.who had magic sponge and dextrose tablets wrapped inside bandages for sock tie-ups that us Ball boys used to run up & down touchline to distribute to tiring players. Irons .10 ... Cameron saluting the shed? ... Must be first season up 92-93 (strips and irons-10)... we beat them away which gave rise to the infamous " who put the ball in the celtic net " song ... but I dont think this is Geordie scoring here... defo the promised land... 2-3 game maybe and remember Farningham scored against both sides of the franchise that year. ... Great season.... early season tim tankin at the graveyards 2-1 & 3-0 against the 'orrible 'un to stay up! ... don't get much better than that. Â " ... Â Well worth posting again.

gerrybritton9
One from the Mid 1980's more dark days. Â Â Â Can anyone tell me the story behind this strip? Its clearly an away shirt but very unusually has "Partick Thistle" on it. Â It's obviously before I started following the jags - the 1987 Colonel Gee's days !!!!!! JeanieD
Looks like we were playing East Fife at Methil - perhaps Methil had a ban on carpet adverts so we had to use an alternative - very European! :-) Â Is the player facing Willie Cairns? - Johnstone is there - Watson and Carson too - the number 2 might be Jamie Doyle? Â East Fife had a centre-half - Burgess? or something - he might be the player out-jumping Carson. Â Given the era I suspect it was a defeat but will have to dig out the History Book to confirm. jaggy
I can't remember if we already had a sponsor or put the club name on the strip to advertise the 'your name here' was available on the away strip. Pretty sure Ashoka was the first sponsor we had and it was during Johnstone's tenure, so maybe it came along soon after that game
JeanieD
Have cheated and looked up record book - this would appear to have been in a 1-1 draw at Methil - and the Thistle right-back is Dave Walker.
