Pretty sure its Joe Carson and Paul Donnelly however the keeper is a bit of a curve ball as our regular keeper for that period was John Brough. However he was prone to an injury and we never really had a reserve keeper and we used to get a lot of loans.

So might be John Wilson which makes the game a 4-1 defeat to Airdrie on 17th November 1984?

The goalie is Archie McLean I think.

Definitely not Archie McLean. He joined in 1987 after Carson left.

Also the strip Carson and I think Donnelly are in was used in seasons 1984/85 and 1985/86

It looks like Cruikshank. The ref might be JPR Gordon

Think that's Jim Cruikshank.

JPR Gordon often escaped press criticism. He worked (owned?) for a confectionery factory and was known to regularly hand out sweeties post match to the the sports hacks and journos in attendance.

Jim Cruickshank was a bit of a character. The last thing he'd do before leaving the dressing room and sauntering down the tunnel was to grind out his last ciggie for 45 minutes on the floor. In later years he all but gave up training. Jim preferred a workout on the massage table - fags to hand - whilst his Hearts team mates went about the hard work . A lovely fella'...
