stillresigned
I think it is looking grim for Utd which only puts our performance at Tannadice a couple of weeks back in stark perspective. I doubt we're anywhere near been able to crow about them, yet!
Third Lanark
I don't actually think the team that Dundee United have is not that bad. They are in serious trouble because their chairman has sold anything that moves, they have had a manager that has caused damage and has a manager at present on a 3 year contract who is proving to be inept. They are also involved off the field with being taken to court by their former head of youth development which could see him gain £500,000. Many of their players are young and these things will be unsettling them and won't be helped by a clueless manager. There are a number of young players eg spittal, telfer who are tipped for good things, even the older players Paton who may at times be a right idiot does give his all and Mackay can get goals. I would love it if we could secure our status in the premier league as soon as possible and cherry pick a couple of their better players eg Mackay or spittal just as we have already done with Erskine as they as a club have routinely done against us and Queens Park. cyprusjag
I also think that whilst DU are a bad team they have some good players. IF they get their act together they are capable of wining games. My concern is the number of games in hand if injuries and suspensions kick in.We could end up playing 3 games in 8 days with a limited squad. Members Willjag
eta Stephen Thompson is taking things very well http://dufc.co/news/...m-the-chairman/ Third highest player wage bill Wow. Can't believe the Chairman has come out and said that! Wish we were playing them next. That'll demotivate everyone at the Club.

ian_mac
Might not be a bad thing if they win a few games (obviously not against us) as it would probably relieve some of the tension further up. The main reason why it's so tight between 4th and 11th is because you have one team rooted to the bottom, completely detached, who everyone is taking points off. That said, even if they win a few games they are still not going to escape the drop at this stage.

But if they simply go out looking for 3 points against Hearts, County (away) and Aberdeen they're more than likely to suffer. If they kinda adopt a damage limitation posture they might just be able to squeeze something to hang on to for a few weeks at least. They've a game against 'Well and two derbies to play before they come to Firhill. Wouldn't mind see them get a few points from those three games
lady-isobel-barnett
Anyway John Rankin talking to the BBC clears up any doubts whether his team-mates are giving their all for the club with this fine piece of arithmetical gobbledegook "We need every player giving 100%. Letting your head drop is unacceptable. I'm not saying they don't give 100% because in our mindset we are giving 100%. It's affecting us all. This will affect livelihoods. The supporters are turning out on a Tuesday night after they've been at work all day. They're giving us a 100%. Did we give them 100% back? No we didn't." So now we know.

Jaggernaut
Paul Paton's winning goal against Hearts was a belter. One of those that could have gone anywhere, but ended up in the back of the net.
