Here we go, thrill-seekers.

The draw for the Men's First Round takes place on Sunday evening at 5:30. After that, it's over to you. So, get your HAHA pencils sharpened.

It only feels like four months since the last one. I know a lot of people regretted not joining in last season so it's good to get going again. Seriously, it would be good to have more players this year. If you've never played before, don't worry about making a fool of yourself. You'll be in good company. Who knows, you might even VBJ it.

Same rules as last season.

Here is a timetable of fixtures over the next nine months.

How to play

Select the winning team in each Scottish Cup tie. Simples.

Seeding

For scoring purposes, teams are seeded as shown below

            MEN
                Premiership
                Championship
                League One
                League Two
                Highland League / Lowland League
                EoSFL / WoSFL / SoSFL / Others
                Unlicensed Clubs

            WOMEN
                SPFL 1
                SPFL 2
                Championship
                League One
SWFL / Highlands & Islands League

Scoring

One point awarded for each correct prediction in the First Rounds. This increases by one point in each subsequent round. Therefore, predicting the winner in the Men's Final is worth 8 points; in the Women's Final, 7 points.

If your chosen team beats a team with a higher seeding, additional points will be awarded commensurate with the difference in seeding level. Should the victory be away from home, one further point will be awarded.
As an aid, the seeding points available in each tie will be shown in the published fixtures.

Logistics

The fixtures for each round will be published here shortly after each draw takes place.

Post your entries on this thread. "H" for home win, "A" for away win.

Post your entries before the deadline stated alongside each set of fixtures. Late entries are usually tolerated but it's very rude!. Should your entry arrive after any matches have kicked off, entries for those games will be void.

League table will be published after the completion of each round.

The chart below shows, round by round, where points will be won or lost. Percentages are rounded to nearest 1%.

Almost two-thirds of the total points available are in the Men's competition.

Across both competitions, half of the points will be decided in the first three rounds. Almost three-quarters in the first four rounds.

The third round is the most profitable, accounting for nearly a quarter of the Men's points and a third of the Women's.

While later in the competition the points per game are greater, the smaller number of games and the (often) more predictable outcome means it is harder to make gains on the opposition. If you are in a good position by the quarter finals, you will be hard to dislodge.

The seeding points are determined solely by the draw, so impossible to predict.

In last season's competition 40% of games where seeding points were available were won by the underdog.

The big question is whether it is profitable to target the underdog to gain points. In response, I offer this observation. Last season, one competitor selected the underdog wherever possible. They finished with 153 points. Reversing each of their predictions would have resulted in a total of 301 points.

The Women's Second Preliminary Round matches are played tomorrow. Well, thirteen ties are played tomorrow. There are fourteen places free in the First Round draw. Can't find any information on the missing tie. Also can't find out when the draw takes place.

Was hoping that the SFA might be a bit better organised this season but I guess it will be another season of relying on various clubs socials for information.

Only thing worse than incomplete information would be if the SFA published incorrect fixture info. Surely even they wouldn't be that disorganised...

In the Women's Second Preliminary Round today, 10 ties were completed. There were 2 walkovers and 2 matches were abandoned due to serious player injuries.

The draw for the First Round takes place tomorrow at 6pm.

Hope the players with serious injuries make a good recovery and they didn't need to wait for hours for treatment like the PTWFC player a few weeks ago who waited hours for an ambulance after a serious head knock.
