Absolutely - was also great to get him signed up for another 2 years as I think he would have been on the radar of a few clubs able to pay far higher wages than we could.

Feared a right dooing at 3-1 and down to ten with almost 15 mins to go. glad we fought back and got it to 3-2. Other results went against us today but we can hope Raith go through the motions next week and qots v dundee ends a draw. 4th spot still on.

dools has done great this season. 17 goals in all competitions.

And after so many folk wrote him off at the start of the season as well. Well done Dools.

It's a low-scoring season (Doolan's only on 14 in the league) but I always rated him. Didn't really understand why we sent him to Clyde (at the time could understand Boyle and Kinniburgh). Always thought Doolan's more of an all-round player than Buchanan and I feel he's proved that.

My thoughts on today...

Dundee got 7700 odds because it was £5 to get in. At £19 a ticket if they got 2100 in they'd get more cash in and the only reason it was £5 is because a sponsor covered it. The 1st Dundee goal was offside, as was a chance just before it which the same linesman failed to spot. There was also clear foul on Cairney in the build up to their penalty even then it wasn't a penalty and even if it was then it wasn't a sending off because Forsyth had knocked the ball so far in front of him that Fox was getting to it and therefore it wasn't a clear goalscoring opportunity.

Onto the off field antics....At the 2nd goal someone jumped out of the announcers box to goad Thistle fans, a couple of Thistle fans ran towards him and 1 got punched by said Dundee fan/employee before he ran back into his room and shut the door over. It seems he got lifted for it in the end and he's lucky the police and stewards stopped him getting a kicking.

The Dundee fans outside were a lovely bunch too, challenging anyone and everyone to fights in front of the police. A bit of an overreaction from the police to give all the buses a police escort out right enough.

Some goal from Stewart, McNamara was right he can certainly strike the ball.

From what I was told, that same announcer came running out of his booth to goad the Jags fans after the first goal too. I was at the other end of the ground, but through the lens I could see a policeman giving the announcer an "arrest" armgrab, and some other officers writing down statements from Jags fans. Pity too, because during the first half, the banter was good between both sets of fans, with the Dundee mob loving the song "You're only here cause it's a fiver".

That was a good laugh actually! They're a strange bunch them Dundee fans. One tried it on after game, so I said come on then at which point he turned and shuffled away! Big Feartie. The announcer incident was funny, one of our lads responded to the goading by dodging past the cops and tried to give him what for, but got a straight donk on the hooter from said announcer who promptly slammed the door in his face! 10 mins later announcer got lifted, but I hope was just taken out and let go as I would have done exactly the same in the circumstances. As I said, all a good laugh, bit like the old days.

Geography thing here and I think I'm no doubt being a bit thick. Can't figure out where in the park the said announcer came in contact with Jags fans.

btw realise there's certain specifics that can't be mentioned. Were Jags fan's in the funny shaped stand instead of behind the goal?

Cracking day out. A fiver to get in, sun was shining, ground nearly full, brilliant atmosphere, punch up in the ground, missiles thrown at the police, seats smashed, both sets of fans trading insults thoughout, five goals, Dundee scheme rats trying to have a pop directly outside the ground and being able to have a laugh about it and share a pint with the locals afterwards.

Many will disagree, but to me, that's what football is all about :)

I miss the Seventies

:D Agree there, gaz. Doesn't sound that today's game came anything close to that tho'. Think then I'd disagree with Tom S all the same, tho' I didn't go today. I probably prefer the insipid non confrontational games that we normally get today than some pale imitation of the past. That's just an age thingy of course :)

great to see a full ground, wish we went to one of them every week.

If ever there was a game in which you might suspect that a referee and "assistants" had an agenda even before kick-off, Saturday at Dens Park was that game.

A sunny day and a fiver to get into a game is really what it should be all about. The match officials were honkin'.

Well done to the lads for their performance. I'm used to seeing Thistle collapse after going two goals down, so I like the spirit. Had the linesman been doing his job we may have come home with a point.

On the downside, Archie was left for dead by Dundee's forwards a couple of times. Hmm ...

Exactly my feeling too when it unfolded.

Another ray of light was that Cairney for much of the game was pretty much running the midfield show for us and doing it well. But he can't jump for toffee.

He probably could for a Mars bar though, going by his physique. ;)

Seriously though, it is encouraging to see Cairney gradually getting back to his best form. The last couple of times I have seen him play he has quite impressed me.
