Attendance at the game is restricted to their academy players/parents and local schools, so hopefully(|) there will be little, if any, damage.

Well, your response was both intellectually lazy and intellectually inadequate (you clearly did not bother to read simple english and recognise common punctuation marks properly). I was not attacking the poster, I was posing a question - to which I don't know the answer - which the poster is welcome to reply to.

In my opinion, you have hijacked the intention of Saturday's display to highlight a different argument. The flags being displayed on Saturday were not "trans rights" flags. They were Progress Pride flags which are a variation on the original rainbow flags with added colours to include people of colour and transgender people. The clear intention of the display was to make it clear that all are welcome at Firhill. Perhaps you don't agree that trans people are welcome at Firhill? (I happen to agree with you that trans women should not be allowed in competitive women's sport)

Tranche 2 & the Preservation of Power
Jagged Edge replied to Jordanhill Jag's topic in Main Jags forum
Are you JJ in disguise?🙂 Perhaps JJ's posts are now receiving the attention they deserved........ -
This happened in the first half. There was a long ball launched towards Graham, and he basically made no attempt to head the ball, or shield the ball from the defender, and just meekly allowed the defender to get to the ball instead. Cue the guy sitting next to me who shouted - quite correctly - "Make an effort, Graham!". Graham then launched into a foul-mouthed outburst aimed at the area of the stand where we were sitting. Clearly stemming from frustration at his own poor form this season, but completely unjustified. Not befitting the captain of the club.

Jags fan Alex Melrose submitted a Freedom of Information request to find out who made, and when, the decision to take the penalties at the Ross County end. This is the response he received. The grammar, typos etc are embarrassing in the Police response, but a precedent has clearly been established. The home team get to choose which end the penalties get taken - it just needs the home team safety officer to say so. With Neil Doncaster in attendance, can we ever expect anything else?
-
Not so sure about that - it was known for the odd dribble every now and then........

Hence the inspiration for Lindisfarnes's song "Fog on the Tine"!

Any decent child psychologist will tell you not to reward bad behaviour. Allowing Neil Doncaster to present the League 1 trophy would have been to reward his bad behaviour.

Kit Atkinson, 63. Born in Newcastle, family moved from Liverpool to Bishopbriggs when I was 4 years old. My friends and I did not have anyone to take us to the football and their dads came from Maryhill, so Firhill was the only choice. We had to wait until we were 14 years old to be able to go on our own (that means 1972, missed the cup final dammit!). Still remember getting lifted over occasionally at 14 years old! Frank Coulston was one of my PE teachers at Bishopbriggs High School for three years before he left to go to Denny High School (for others who went to Bishopbriggs High School, "Jumping Jimmy" was the other PE teacher!). Spoke to Frank at the 40th Cup Final Anniversary celebrations at Hampden, and he still remembered me - I was heavily involved in sports at high school. Fate brought my wife and I together, as it turned out she was also a Thistle fan. We have both been volunteering at the club for 21 years now, initially selling programmes and 50/50s then looking after the ballboys and ballgirls. My wife Fiona is also the club's Child Wellbeing and Protection Officer.

I hope that the next time Neil Doncaster* visits Firhill, the stewards accompany him to his reserved seat - in the middle of the John Lambie Stand! * not that the cowardly snake would be brave enough to come anywhere near Firhill

I pinched this picture from the Hearts Kickback forum because it made me laugh, and we can always do with a laugh. It was posted in response to the Dundee United statement (which is proof of parallel universes, as clearly "sporting integrity" has a completely different meaning in their's) looking to round up cash from other clubs and supporters:
-
I'm assuming the SFA Compliance Officer will now be investigating Dundee United, Raith Rovers and Cove Rangers for taking to the courts without going through the SPFL first?

If the season had been completed, the bottom clubs would have been relegated, and play offs determined any others. The fact that the season was not completed, does this perhaps mean that Hearts, Thistle and Stranraer have an argument that the clubs that voted to relegate them, have effectively acted as a cartel to vote to financially disadvantage a competitor company? Is this not anti-competitive? Could this form a persuasive legal argument? In this case it does not matter what the SPFL rules say.
-
If it went to court and Thistle won, then the other SPFL clubs will owe us money. And this surely would constitute a football debt? Ergo, Celtic won't be allowed to play in the Champions League with an outstanding football debt, would they?

I thought BB's first design was a cracker, but wondered what it would look like with the colours wrapped around the family crest. Then got thinking about other options as well..... Happy to go with BB's original, or any others!

Definitely my favourite team in 48 years of watching Thistle. The ease in which the key members of that team rolled back the years playing in Dools' Testimonial still brings a lump to my throat. For those of you quick at arithmetic, yes, I admit it, I am a gloryhunter. I started going to Thistle matches in 1972!

It may have appeared strange but it was our only option on the evening as we could only get 3 ballboys for the game! With one for each of the Bing, JHS and John Lambie Stand, it was left to yours truly to cover one half of the Colin Weir Stand (the First Aiders covered the other half, as they are situated behind the barrier for any balls that went over). As I am fast approaching my 62nd birthday, does this make me Thistle's oldest ever ballboy? Should I be looking forward to my Hall of Fame entry? And yes, I also thought it worked very well that evening.

Sorry, but that is crazy talk. Budget A - live within means projecting a break-even position at year end. Budget B - splash the cash on additional/higher quality players hoping to get promotion. How do you balance this at year end - only by a big influx of cash.
-
I think people are being grossly unfair on Gerry Britton. His job as CEO is to fulfil the policies and strategy of the board of directors. If their strategy was to overspend the budget then Gerry will operate on that basis. Only if the strategy was to break even, but a serious overspend occurred should he be getting his jotters. It is clear from yesterday that the strategy of the old board for this season was to overspend. It is clear that the playing budget for this year is the same as last year. Only the transfer money from Liam and Fitzy has prevented the deficit at the end of the season from being embarrassingly huge. The only conclusion I can come to regarding the mysterious £200k for four players was based on a "promise of additional funding" from the old board. The £200k is not sitting in PTFC's bank account, is not in the playing budget, and would have to have been an additional £200k input from someone (or more than one person), otherwise it would have been yet another £200k to add to the season's deficit. The new board are committed to a break even budget - we all know what overspent budgets leads to. I actually thought Norman Springford and Ronnie Gilfillan spoke well yesterday - genuine Thistle men who pumped money into Thistle with no expectation of ever getting it back. Ronnie stated that any money he would get back from any sale would be less (in real terms) that what he put in, and Norman stated that his return from any sale would be going to charities, so no direct benefit to him at all. Posters who claim that the new board are only out for money from the sale are insulting these fine gentlemen! Their reasons for wanting to look into the consortium taking over Thistle were based on believing that Thistle would benefit from the consortium's infrastructure, additional revenue stream possibilities, and beliefs in the development of young players. They have not committed to taking any deal that is offered by the consortium, but believe that it should be considered.

The smoke bomb that was thrown by the Hearts supporters missed one of our ballboys' head by inches. It is only a matter of time before someone innocent gets badly injured/maimed. The lack of action by stewards/police to these incidents is alarming and they are just as much to blame as those supporters who fail to call out the culprits. I hope the idiots in our own support get the message.

I'm going along with a few others. I hope there is a good turnout - you can't criticise the club for putting on a free event with free food for season ticket holders!

Who Are The Jags Players In This Photo?
Jagged Edge replied to Jaggernaut's topic in Main Jags forum
I have no idea who looked after the mascots in 1956 But if you are asking who currently looks after them, it is John Smith (and what a great job he does too!) https://ptfc.co.uk/ptfc-staff/john-smith/
