I see he was on trial with Leeds and played in 2 bounce games there also. Was told he'd be signed if he impressed the Manager (Hockaday), only for Hockaday to be sacked before a decision was made!

Frans has been unlucky to go on trial at two clubs in turmoil. Jose Riga was very unhappy with his Chairman during the transfer window but, contrary to expectations, has stayed on at Blackpool.

Hockaday was only the head coach at Leeds so it's doubtful that he had the final say in recruitment. The chairman, Cellino, recruits and gets rid of players. Paddy Kenny was dumped because the Chairman thought that his birthday was unlucky.

ETA - Frans, even if he leaves in January, could be a valuable signing. He will certainly want to impress scouts from other clubs.

That Paddy Kenny story isn't true...

The length of contract shows either.

1 The board has very little faith in Archie's signings after Stephenson, Gabby and Baird.

2 Archie is unsure of the player and has really just taken him on on an extended trial for probably no wages.

It's more likely that the player or his agent, who got him trials at English Championship clubs, did not want to commit to a longer contract.

Btw, it's Stevenson who would give you a Rocket for spelling his name wrong.

We had a tall forward before, 6ft 8 Roger Eli, played once (I use the word played loosely) and was never seen again, Mcglashin, McCoy, and various other great forwards were tiny

I have never taken umbridge before and don't know how to spell it but to describe McCoy as great forward is stretching it. If McCoy was great then we have had a lot great forwards including Eddie Gallacher, Alan Logan, Issac English and Pogo who , to name but several, are the equal or better of McCoy.

You really can't think of even a third, fourth, fifth reason why the contract is only till January?

The Gerry McCoy Callum Campbell partnership for us was excellent for us till Lambie sold McCoy then pissed off to Hamilton 2 days later
