lady-isobel-barnett
This was from our Great European Adventure in 1963 against the "crack Czechoslovakian outfit", as all Eastern European teams were termed then, Spartak(?) Brno. I was just a nipper then but this is etched into my memory as one of a painful series of newspaper photographs of the goals from that match as Thistle raced to a 3-0 lead but then conceded twice. We lost the second leg 4-0. I'm guessing it might be Ernie Yard scoring with maybe Billy Hainey and definitely Neil Duffy. A bit like my knowledge of Hit Singles, I'm pretty good on the 60's & 70's but don't even recognise the names of Thistle Players for much of the rest of the Century. I thought it was Billy Hainey scoring but I'm utterly hopeless at this game.
Winter of '63
I thought it was Billy Hainey scoring but I'm utterly hopeless at this game. You may well be right...I didn't immediately recognise the Thistle Player and went for Yard because I didn't think it was Hainey. I have no idea what Ernie Yard looked like! Walter
I beleive the Celtic player is Pat Carrol who was the scorer of Celtic's first ever goal in European competition and a Partick Thistle fan. I seem to remember an old inerview in the East Kilbride News where he said just that.
potty trained
I think Paralytic Thistle already said it was Pat Carrol, mate.

Mackie, Campbell, Whittaker, Love, John Craig
Weebaw1
We did have some great players then. Bet Harry Johnston is appalled by his perm though. And I think he was a teacher! But current team could be just as good. Just need to get them fit and attack.
