Who Are The Jags Players In This Photo?

I love this picture of old Firhill, with the north terracing and its quirky roof (before the infamous hurricane blew portions of it into Ruchill Park), a decent crowd, the blue invalid cars, the old floodlights, yon wee red shed near the exit (anyone remember what it was used for?), the curved stanchions in the goals, Thistle playing (and winning) in their navy blue shirts....

The players are a bit too small to recognize with certainty, but I'd quite confidently guess four or five of them, especially the one running into the penalty box, who scored the only goal that day.

A stab at answering my own question about "the wee red shed" at the north terracing: Were the ambulance men/first aiders/red cross (I'm not sure what they'd have been called) not stationed there (at least for a while)? I kind of think that later it got used for storing things like soil, or whatever got used for the lines on the pitch etc. But maybe its original function was something to do with the greyhounds? I guess if anybody knows, then Bob Reid would know!

What year is this from? I though the blue invalid cars were a 60's / 70's thing? We weren't playing in navy then.

I’m sure as a young lad during my first season of going to some home games (69/70) that we wore Navy at least in one of those games, perhaps against Dundee United?

One of my favourite games as a lad was the first XI versus the second XI pre season match. It was a beautiful sight - red and yellow hoops ranged against that gorgeous navy blue shirt with the huge White thistle. Sticks in the memory....

The picture is from 1968, when the wee blue cars were still in use. Thistle would occasionally play in navy blue if the other team's strips might clash with the red and yellow hoops.

Thank you.

The photo looks older to me. I didn't know the terracing roof was still there as late as that either.

Struggling with a couple of these.

David Craig, ? ?, Isaac English, Craig Nelson, ? ?, Declan Roche, Paul McGovern, Grant Tierney, Alan Grainger, Alan Kennedy.

I think the ?? between Craig Nelson and Declan Roche is Alan McConville

I reckon that's Alan McConville, playing his last game for the club in a 2-0 defeat to Airdrieonians!

I only know this as I had to search him on The Thistle Archive after Camallain's previous post. I have a complete mind blank and can't remember him at all!!

He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 4th May, 1991, in a 2-0 defeat at home to Airdrieonians in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 5 occasions.
