^ Cheers lads. Hope you're managing to remember at least 2 for the pub Rid ;)

We're on the verge of a biggie...

Jimmy Walker (1925-2000). Thanks to Stuart Sharp / PT History Archive.

:detective:

For 63 years, Jimmy Walker has held a unique record for a Thistle player, having registered a double-figures competitive goals tally in SEVEN consecutive seasons, from 1947-48 onwards.

Just ONE more goal from Kris Doolan in season 2016-17 will see him equal this fantastic record.

I'm quite sure Jimmy would have been rooting for Kris, just as Bobby Charlton was for Wayne Rooney.

Go on Dools!

:detective: 01.03.2017 Dundee 0 Partick Thistle 1 (SPFL Premiership - game 27)

CAN WE PLAY YOU EVERY WEDNESDAY?

  • Dundee and Thistle meet in the League for the 200th time.
  • Ryan Edwards makes his 50th competitive appearance for Thistle.
  • Thistle beat Dundee to nil for the third consecutive game. It's actually the third time such a remarkable streak has occurred against them, following similar runs in 1912 and 1993.
  • Thistle's 2-in-a-row victory run at Dens Park, matches the H2H record in both League and competitive game categories. We seem to be setting lots of H2H records this season.
  • All three of Thistle's wins over Dundee this season have been on a Wednesday.
  • Thistle win to nil for the fourth consecutive competitive game. It's been 58 years since we last did that as a top-flight club, way back in 1959. Archie's Jags are now one such victory away from equalling the all-time club-record of 5-in-a-row which they themselves set in March 2013.
  • Sensationally, Thistle register their fourth consecutive competitive clean-sheet for the second time in the last 3 months. Repeating the statement which was made at the end of January, there have only been two greater runs in our history; Archie's Jags registered 5-in-a-row in March 2013 and George Easton's Jags went 7-in-a-row in February 1921.
  • Tomáš Černý's registers his 10th clean-sheet in 20 games this season, a phenomenal 50% ratio. For a regular Jags 'keeper in a top-flight season, this is second only to James Ferguson's 54.5% (12 out of 22), set during the 1917-18 campaign.
  • If Tomáš Černý's 50% record is impressive, how about Niall Keown's 80%? The on-loan centre half has only conceded once in 450 minutes, namely the 0-1 League defeat at home to St Johnstone.
  • Amazingly, Archie's Jags could be on course to set a table club-record for the FIFTH consecutive season. Favourable away goals differences seem to be a bit of a specialty. -3 was a new top-flight record in 2013-14, and it superceded by a -1 just last season. The current tally (-2) gives every chance for yet another raising of the bar.

ongoing sequences:

  • 34 consecutive competitive appearances for Ade Azeez, 15th July 2016 to date. (Longest run since: Ryan Edwards - 39 games; 2nd Mar 2016 to 31st Dec 2016. Club-record: Johnny Jackson - 313 games; 28th Aug 1926 to 25th Mar 1933.)
  • 57 away League games without a penalty award, 1st Mar 2014 to date. (Longest run since the club-record: 62 games; 1st Apr 1911 to 7th Nov 1914.*)

* To the very best of our knowledge.

Thanks TJR.

It's amazing that Archie's Jags are challenging all-time club records currently held by Archie's Jags. Pure class. Unfortunately, and as has been said, it's hard to keep that sort of success under the radar. Let's all enjoy this to the max.. Big crowd for the Inverness game and big smiles all round.

Equally magnificent to the 7-in-a-row is the drawing level with Willie Sharp at the very summit of our all-time League scorers chart.

Let's hope he goes on to smash the record. 100 League goals? It's certainly doolanable!

I always like to acknowledge the players who played in the "second class" pre-SFL Leagues of the early 1890s and the "unofficial" regional Leagues of second world wartime, hence the sub-category which I've labelled "League Max", and includes all of the standard national-level SFL / SPL / SPFL seasons as well as our two Scottish Alliance seasons (1891-1892 and 1892-93), the SFL's Regional League Western Division (1939-40) and the six Southern League seasons (from 1940-41 through to 1945-46). #JusticeForThe3Willies

League Max All-Time Top 10 Scorers

#1 Willie Sharp (1940-1956) 171 goals

#2 Kris Doolan (2009-2017) 90 goals

#3 John Torbet (1924-1933) 89 goals

#4 John Wallace (1936-1945) 84 goals

#5 Willie Newall (1936-1945) 83 goals

#6 Peter McKennan (1935-1947) 82 goals

#7 Neil Harris (1913-1920) 81 goals

#7 Willie Paul (1891-1900) 81 goals

#9 Sandy Hair (1923-1928) 78 goals

#10 George Smith (1954-1963) 77 goals

Wonderful stuff as always TJR.

If we could bottle Kris Doolan..............

What an example he is.

In the modern era where players do not hang around for more than a couple of years, it's so encouraging in the 21st century to have a lad committed to our club that is the embodiment of the game we grew up with.

  • 1 month later...

Some interesting bits n bobs for you to read during the break...

... since last time...

05.03.2017 Aberdeen [a] L0-1 (Scottish Cup Quarter Final)

10 WITHOUT A WIN vs. ABERDEEN

  • Aberdeen and Thistle meet in competitive action for the 200th time.
  • Thistle play in the Scottish Cup Quarter Finals for the first time in the 2010s, representing the THIRTEENTH different decade in which they have done so. Only Hibernian (14), Celtic (14) and Rangers (15) have bettered this remarkable feat of consistency.
  • Thistle's poor Scottish Cup record vs. Aberdeen continues - now just 1 win in 10 matches.
  • Thistle are now 10 competitive games without a win versus Aberdee, August 2014 to date. The run is second only to the H2H record of 18 games, set between 1979-1993.
  • Should Aberdeen overcome Hibernian in the semi final, the winner of this Scottish Cup tie will have made the final six times out of nine.

11.03.2017 Inverness Caledonian Thistle [h] D1-1 (SPFL Premiership - game 28)

DOUBLE FIGURES JOINT-RECORD FOR DOOLAN

  • 19-year-old Mark Lamont becomes the 32nd player to be listed on a competitive Thistle teamsheet in 2016-17.
  • Adam Barton sets a new personal-best run of 12 consecutive competitive appearances in the Thistle team.
  • For the first-time during Archie's reign, Thistle make two first-half substitutions, both enforced. You have to rewind back to Tuesday, 10th April, 2012, at Cappielow to find the last such occurrence. That night, we were barely a quarter of the way into the game when injuries forced Scott Robertson and Aaron Taylor Sinclair to be replaced by Conrad Balatoni and Mark McGuigan.
  • Ryan Edwards celebrates his international call-up with just his second-ever assist for the club.
  • Kris Doolan gets his 10th competitive goal of the season, and thereby registers the magic double-figures tally for the SEVENTH consecutive season. He now stands shoulder to shoulder with Jimmy Walker, the only other player to have achieved such a feat in Thistle colours.
  • With his 90th SFL/SPFL goal, Kris draws level with Willie Sharp as Thistle's all-time joint-top League goalscorer.
  • With his 5th goal versus the Invernessians, Kris Doolan matches Martin Hardie's 15-year-old record as top competitive scorer against them, both men now with 5 strikes apiece.
  • This 1-1 result ends a H2H record run of 6 competitive home games without a draw. Technically, it's the first-ever 1-1 draw between these sides, given that knockout cup-ties can never finish all-square. Furthermore, we never drew 1-1 with either Caledonian or Thistle in their original incarnations either.

18.03.2017 Kilmarnock [a] D1-1 (SPFL Premiership - game 29)

TOP SIX IN APRIL GUARANTEED

  • Chris Erskine gets his 9th competitive goal of the season and now sits just 1 behind Doolan, as he eyes the top scorer accolade for the second time, having previously done so with 16 goals back in 2012-13.
  • Now with 46 competitive goals to his credit, Chris sits joint 45th in the all-time scorers chart, alongside Mark Roberts.
  • Liam Lindsay (2990 mins) overtakes Callum Booth (2925 mins) with most competitive game time in 2016-17.
  • Thistle are 7 competitive games unbeaten vs. Killie, the best run in the H2H since 1983.
  • For the first time since 1963, Thistle will sit in a top six position in Scottish Football in all 31 days of March.

01.04.2017 Ross County [h] W2-1 (SPFL Premiership - game 30)

TON-UP DOOLAN HITS #1

  • Tomáš Cerný sets a new personal best of 19 consecutive competitive appearances.
  • Liam Lindsay registers a candidate for the assist-of-the-season with his first of the campaign.
  • With his 64th minute equaliser, Kris Doolan becomes the 9th man to score 100 competitive goals for Partick Thistle - the first new addition to the club since Davie McParland more than 50 years ago!
  • By amazing co-incidence, Kris's 100th competitive goal is the one which sees him take over from Willie Sharp as Thistle's all-time top League goalscorer with 91 goals. After adding a 79th minute winner for good measure, the number nine now sits on 92, 2 ahead of Sharp who had occupied the top position for almost 70 years.
  • Adam Barton gets his second assist of the season, both times for Doolan.
  • With his second goal of the game, Kris registered his seventh competitive goal against County, a tally which now sees him sit comfortably as our all-time leading marksman against the Dingwall side.
  • With this second successive win over County, an unprecedented H2H run of 7 competitive games without a repeated outcome comes to a halt.

05.04.2017 Celtic [a] D1-1 (SPFL Premiership - game 31)

YOUNG GUNS GO FOR IT

  • Thistle field their youngest starting line-up (24y, 5m, 15d) in competitive action this season.
  • Ade Azeez ends his personal run of 23 competitive games without a goal in fine style, with a hoodoo-breaking, point-clinching goal at Celtic Park.
  • Ade's strike is Thistle's first at Celtic Park in over 10 hours of competitive football.
  • On match day 31, Thistle concede their first Premiership penalty of the season. It's thought to be the longest we've held out in the top-flight since season 1965-66 when there no known concessions.
  • This point ends the H2H runs of 26 competitive games without a draw (02.05.1995 to 20.12.2016) and 21 consecutive League defeats (07.10.1995 to 20.12.2016), both of which stand as our longest such streaks against any team in history.
  • 7 top-flight games unbeaten sets a new best purely under Archie's reign, although he was involved in a similar run of 7 which spanned 2004-2013.

08.04.2017 Motherwell [h] W1-0 (SPFL Premiership - game 32)

BEST TOP-FLIGHT RUN IN 40 YEARS

  • 18-year-old Neil McLaughlin becomes the 33rd player to be listed on a competitive Thistle teamsheet in 2016-17.
  • Thistle register their 9th consecutive first-half clean-sheet in the Premiership.
  • Mustapha Dumbuya (4/8, 50%), Niall Keown (5/11, 45.5%) and Tomáš Cerný (11/26, 42.3%) all see their wonderful competitive clean-sheet ratios for 2016-17 improve.
  • Thistle go 8 unbeaten in the top-flight for the first time since November 1977. You have to rewind back 54 years to find a longer run, namely the club-record run of 15 games from Sep '62 to Mar '63.
  • For the first time in a Thistle League game this season, there are no yellow cards.
  • This fixture has now delivered 10 competitive games without a repeated outcome, 4th October 2014 to date.
  • Thistle are now 5 competitive games unbeaten against Motherwell at Firhill, 4th October 2014 to date.
  • Thistle make the "Top 6" League split for the first time, at the sixth time of asking.
  • Alan Archibald draws level with John Lambie on 42 top-flight wins.

15.04.2017 Rangers [a] L0-2 (SPFL Premiership - game 33)

25 WITHOUT A WIN : - (

  • Tomáš Cerný becomes our third 'keeper to have faced Rangers this term, following on from Ryan Scully (October) and Thorsten Stuckmann (November).
  • For the first-time ever, Partick Thistle have 9 non-Scots in the starting line-up for a match.
  • Thistle are now 21 League games without a win versus Rangers (11.09.1993 to date), second only to the H2H club-record run in the category (22).
  • Thistle are now 25 competitive games without a win versus Rangers (11.09.1993 to date), easily our worst ongoing streak in any club H2Hs.
  • Ade Azeez, 41-not-out, remains on course to be an ever-present in competitive action this term.
  • Jags are now 60 away League games without a penalty award, 2 off what's thought to be the all-time club-record of 62 set between 1911-14.
