You just assume it's been a car crash or something. So sad anyway, but that Telegraph piece is tragic.

taffthejag
I am bereft - he was turning my football team around and getting the best out of mainly middling footballers. Thanks for doing that.

Munkey
Tragic news, so many of today's "professionals" could lace his boots. May he rest in peace and his family find peace and the answers to the thousands of questions they must be asking.

Big Col
Suicide is the most selfish act anyone can commit. I feel heart sorry for his family, especially his young sons who will struggle to get over the fact that their father killed himself. How anyone can do that to their family is beyond me. Agreed BC - my missus's da did this 32 years ago - she and her bruv found his body and neither of them are over it all these years later - extremely selfish thing to do but to do it at hame is bang out of order - a sign he was in a dark place indeed. Sympathies to his family.

kni
Someone clearly doesn't understand mental health issues. Agreed. Gary Speed must have been in a very desperate state of mind to hang himself at home. He certainly hid his anguish from his friends, colleagues and fellow professionals. His poor family must be going through hell. They will need a lot of support for a long, long time and may never come to terms with their devastating loss. Barney Rubble
Suicide is the most selfish act anyone can commit. Says who? You? Statements like that only go to show that empathy ain't your strong point, Big Col. RIP Gary Speed. Hope you are now at peace with your demons.
